School Newsletter - Term 2 Week 6 - 29th May 2017

Burdens Can Be Blessings

Our Father knows what is best for us - so why

should we complain.

We always want the sunshine - but He knows

there must be rain.

We love the sound of laughter and

the merriment of cheer,

but our hearts would lose their tenderness

if we never shed a tear.

So whenever we are troubled and life

has lost its song,

it is God testing us with burdens just

to make our spirit strong!

Amen

RE NEWS

Primary Year 4 Grade Mass has been cancelled for this Tuesday 30th May 2017. Shoe Box Collection Please don‛t forget the “Winter Shoe Box Collection” for 2017. We are asking families to fill a shoebox to help out a refugee or homeless person. Items to fill a box can include non perishable food items, up & go breakfasts, muesli bars, toiletries, hats, scarves, socks, underwear, books. Please write on the box if it is intended for a man, woman, boy or girl. You may want to include a letter, it is up to you! Please dig deep for those in need. Filled boxes may be taken directly to the church at any weekend Mass. We are still on the hunt for more empty shoe boxes as well. Please send any to Mrs Clarke at the Primary Campus, or Mrs Willis at the Infants Campus. The shoe box collection will run for all of May and June, to be distributed in early July. Thank you in advance for your support. Feast of the Ascension Last Thursday, we celebrated the Feast of the Ascension of the Lord. This is the day Jesus left his disciples and went to be with his Father in Heaven. It is celebrated on the fortieth day after Easter Sunday. Jesus had told his disciples that he would ascend into Heaven so that he could send the Holy Spirit and they could go out and spread the Good News of God.

Pentecost Sunday This Sunday, 4th June, we celebrate Pentecost. This is day that the Holy Spirit was sent to the disciples. The disciples felt the strong wind around them, had flames of fire dancing on their heads and were able to speak in many different languages. Pentecost is celebrated on the seventh Sunday after Easter. Kindergarten, Year 3 and Year 6 Family Mass Kindergarten, Year 3 and Year 6 students will celebrate the first Family Mass for Term 2 this Sunday, 4th June. We invite the families of these students to come and celebrate Pentecost with the Parish community, and bring a plate of morning tea to share after Mass. We would also love to see families of students from other grades as well.

Your thoughts and prayers are asked for……. Please keep the following people, and their families, in your prayers after they sadly passed away last week. ∙ Robin Gardiner, Father of ex-students George, Avril and Jock Gardiner, and husband of Cassie. ∙ Denis O‛Callaghan, Grandfather of ex-students Sophie, Holly and Thomas Littlejohns, and

Father of Jacquie Littlejohns and Tim O‛Callaghan. ∙ Col Easter, Father of ex-students Ben, Matthew and Taryn Easter, and husband of Kath.

GREEN TEAM We’ve been working hard this week in Green Team and we’ve been keeping our plants well watered. Green Team have picked lots of capsicums and snow peas. We dug up our cabbage last week and they were nice and healthy. Some of the cabbages were very big and plump, while others were small.

The weeds have been growing very quickly and Green Team has been working hard to get rid of them. The weeds have been coming up everywhere in all our gardens creating more and more work for us!

In the next couple of weeks we are aiming to have some more garden beds up and running, with carrots and some new cucumber shoots.

The chickens are happily pecking away in their pen at the yummy scraps from the Canteen. We give them these scraps everyday. They have finished moulting now and two of them have finally started laying fresh eggs for us. The other four should start laying soon.
