From Your Pastor’s Heart I am ready for some VBS. This is always a special
week in the life of our church. Becky Zeigler always does
such a great job in having a wonderful school. Melodie
Sharpe and Joy Hoffman teach the scripture through plays
and scenes. It takes them hours each day to set up the
church for the next days Bible study. I just wanted to say
thanks to all that help. It is going to be fun. VBS t shirts
are available for $10.00.
The Virginia Mission Trip is just around the corner. We will have the
Commissioning Service on Sunday, July 15th and then we will get in the bus
and trucks and head to Virginia. The Plainview Missionary Baptist Church
will be our home for a week. Pray for us this week! We have 56 people goig
on this mission trip!

Student Ministry News Summer 2012 is now upon us and we already have several big
events lined up on our calendar. Before I get into the details of our summer
activities I want to say congratulations to the graduates for this year. We
are proud of you and your accomplishments and pray that you will continue
to grow in Christ wherever he may lead you.
I sent a letter home with students on May 23rd with details on our
Summer Schedule. If you did not receive this letter please let me know and
I will get one to you. I also have Community Changers forms available in the parsonage and
the church office for those that will be participating.
The first event on our calendar for this summer is VBS the week of June 11-15. This
year we will have a youth class available for you. Our class will be similar to what we have
done in the past. All students, grades 7-12 are invited to be a part of this class. We had a
great time last year and I am looking forward to seeing you there this year.
Community Changers will be the week of June 24-29. The cost for the week is $25
per a student. If you are not familiar with Community Changers this is our missions emphasis
week. We partner with the student groups from Faith and Sardis to do several community ser-
vice projects. Our purpose for the week is to share the love of Christ in our community by
meeting physical needs. We will again be hosting Community Changers this year. Each stu-
dent will need to fill out some forms which are available in the parsonage and the church of-
fice.
There are several areas where we need adults to help with this week ranging from lead-
ing a project to an overnight chaperone to helping serve our meals. If you have any time dur-
ing the week and you would like to help us please let me know. We also need some sponsors
that will help with the cost of the projects. If you would like to personally or through your
business sponsor Community Changers please let me know and I will get you all the details.
For our second event this summer we are planning an overnight trip to 6 Flags in At-
lanta. We will leave on Monday, July 9th at 8:00am and return on Tuesday, July 10th by
4:00pm. The cost for this trip is $50 and the trip is limited to 25 students (yes, college stu-
dents can come) and chaperones. Please let me know by Wednesday, June 6th if you plan to
go so I can order our tickets.
I am also working on another event for the summer but you will have to come on
Wednesday nights to hear the details. I promise that you will not want to miss out on what we
are planning.
In Christ,
John Harmon
Meredith Moments Summer is here! And like most teachers this time of
year, I am thrilled to have the summer in front of me.
However, I am reminded that this means there is also
work to do. The choir will be continuing to work on
specials throughout the summer. Therefore, be sure to
remember if you are in town, come to practice. I hope
everyone takes time to take their vacation, but don’t stay
gone too long.
As we prepare for ministry this summer, I want to remind all who are in-
volved with VBS and the mission trip, that what we are going to do will have
lasting effects for years to come. So be encouraged to do great things and be
willing to make yourself available! God Bless!
Thank You
I want to thank you for the way you are always willing to help folks. You
gave $254.00 to Jordan for his trip to Daytona Beach. You also gave $1,060.00
to Sam and Janice Jones. I thank you for your kindness and your generosity.
Rev. Terry C. Wilder
Dear Church Family,
Sam and I are humbled by the generous love offering. During times like
these, the love and support of friends and family mean more than words can say.
We are praying, if it is God’s will, to grant us a miracle, if it is not, we pray for
strength as we go through this journey. We ask that you continue praying. We
love you all from the bottom of our hearts.
Thank you,
Sam, Janice and the Jones Family
The youth at Swansea First Baptist Church will GIVE GOD THE GLORY with every-
thing we do; and we will have FUN while GROWING TOGETHER, MEETING OTH-
ERS NEEDS, and SPREADING THE WORD.

Virginia Mission Trip
We are looking forward to taking a team of approximately 55 to Jonesville, Vir-
ginia the week of July 15-20 on our Virginia Mission Trip. We will be working
with the Plainview Baptist Church throughout the week. This church has been
under construction for 6 years and are now out of money and out of help. Some
of the projects that we will be working on are:
Painting the Baptism Pool
Trimming out Steps (16 steps)
Building a 12x24 cook out shelter
Painting the Sanctuary
Pouring 2 concrete ramps
Tile on counter tops
Installing doors on cabinets in the kitchen
Painting the cabinets in the kitchen
Painting murals on Sunday School walls
Installing shelves in 7 closets
Vinyl on porch
Gate for entrance of the building
Build a bell tower for old church bell
We will also be putting on a VBS for the children in the community, working
with 3 nursing homes in the area, and hosting a block party on Thursday night
before we leave. We are looking forward to a God doing great things on this trip
and we hope you will be a part of it.
We also need some old sheets to use as floor and pew
protectors as we paint. If you would look through your closets
and help us with some old sheets. We need to paint the sanctu-
ary and we need to be real careful in there. Thanks!
