Introducing the 1st Annual Church Talent & Choir Showcase, 2019!
The Shepherd's Center of Chesterfield hosted its first Annual Church Talent & Choir Show-
case Fundraiser on Saturday, May 4 at Victory Tabernacle Church of God in Midlothian.
The Choir Showcase offered the audience a unique afternoon to listen to talented choirs such
as St. Augustine Catholic Church Choir directed by Ms. Kathy Musselman, Director of Mu-
sic Chester United Methodist Church Chancel Choir directed by Mr. Joshua Wortham, Di-
rector of Music. Soloists Ms. Sherrie Lizarraga, Director of Adult Music Ministries at Beu-
lah United Methodist Church and Mr. Mark Houser, Associate Pastor of Music at Heritage
Baptist Church also offered beautiful and moving music. The Shepherd’s Center humble
beginning occurred from within our local churches in 2001 and this was an opportunity to
share their incredible musical gifts as part of a fundraiser. The event helped raise needed
funds for the Center's mission of providing programs and services for the elderly in our com-
munity. Victory Tabernacle Church of God was the Platinum sponsor for this amazing event.
Mistress of Ceremonies for the afternoon, Mrs. Brandi Pope, Mrs. Virginia America 2012,
kept the audience entertained with her lively personality as they listened to the beautiful mu-
sic.

What Do Seniors Do
By Geraldine Raybould
What do you do when your day is
not full?
Do you rock on a chair with your
feet on a stool?
What do you do when your knees
start to hurt?
Do you get up and dance or dig in
some dirt?
What do you do when it’s a rainy
day?
Do you sleep in late or stomp
puddles for play?
What do you do to keep busy and
sharp?
Do you read and learn and
practice being smart?
Here’s what some do for all these
things…
Sit on a swing and read a book,
Write a poem with a whimsical
look.
Find new friends at AIL,
Listen to all the great stories they
tell.

The SCC Community and Congregational
Relations Committee...
Is YOUR Church Represented?
The Community and Congregational Relations Com-
mittee is made up of representatives from congrega-
tions and community organizations whose members
use The Shepherd’s Center’s services (such as Adven-
tures in Learning) or volunteer with The Shepherd’s Center. The representa-
tives can be a resource for members of their congregations to get information
about The Shepherd’s Center. They can help us communicate with the church
secretary to make sure our events are announced in church bulletins, newslet-
ters, bulletin boards, etc. ... If the congregation is having a fundraising event,
we can put that information in The Shepherd’s Gate to spread the word to a
larger audience that the congregation might not be able to reach. If you would
like to let your pastor, senior group, or congregation know more about The
Shepherd’s Center, let us know and we can work with you to make it happen!
We all benefit if we work together to improve the lives of our seniors!
Being a congregational representative does not take a lot of your time. We
meet once a quarter for about 1½ hours, free refreshments provided. If you
are interested in representing your congregation, call the office at 706-6689
and let us know!
