He bullt the house about the year L924 or 1925, It stands tvo storles and has three bedroons, one bath. It also has a very large kltchen and dlnlng room. Hr. Ke1log used cedar telephone poles for the out slde and flnlshed the Inslde vlth lath and plaster. Hr F, E. Hungatq tgaded a house ln San Dlego and a llttle eash for the trog house ln 1930, The over all value of the house ln 1930 vas about S{000. The log houEe slts on 7/8 of an acre. In 1931 Mr. Hungate planted ovetr 50 avocado trees on the land. Bef ore he dld the plantlng, he and hls son, tfard, had to dlg 30 or more eucalyptus trees out to make room for the avocado trees. Those trees sttll stand and produce fruit to day. In 19{9 Mr. Hungate and hls son, Ifard, rebullt the f ire pLace, It vas nade of rocksrbrtck and llme nortar, but vas shaken loose by the Long Beach earthguake ln 1932 or 1933. It uas rebullt vlth concrete and large rocks, stands 27 feet hlgh and looks as lf lt vil1 stand for ever, In 1935 l{ard Hungate uas narrted to MaybeIl StonebreaXir. Their first chtl.d \tas born ln the old log house ln 1939. The baby vas a glrl named Elma Jo. lfard and Maybell had three more chi ldren, Florence ArdelI, tfard Robert and Frank Evamont. The three other chlldren uere not born tn the log house. , Hr. Hungate ovned 6 acres of land on Hymettus and had avocados on all of them. rn 1930 there vere only about 5 or 6 houses on the street, He also had a brother vho built a house on llymettus Ave. Hls name vas.Jln Hungate, Hr. Hy Grandmother use to ralse plants and f lovers, I guess thatI take af ter her as I a lso have plants as a hobby. On Harch 27,1988 I found out that I had cancer and i t vasqui te extensive. I was in and out of the hospi ta l a fev t imes bugnothing helped me.

Arde1l passed avay at Scr ipts Encini tas1988. On October 26r1988 Ardel1 's ashes '* ,erelath house as she requested.
