The World Heritage City of Bath is approximately 12 miles distant and provides a full
range of amenities with excellent shopping facilities, The Theatre Royal, Thermae Baths,
cinema, numerous restaurants, many schools and a mainline railway station providing
direct access to London Paddington.
The M4 motorway is also within easy access with junctions 17 and 18 both being
approximately 17 miles away.
deScRiptionRodwell Hall was formally a mansion built in the Victorian gothic renaissance and early 19th
Century style, creating a substantial three storey property with attic rooms and a grand tower.
In more recent years the property was divided into three residences, with South Rodwell Hall
being the major part.
South Rodwell Hall is approached via a driveway passing the former lodge, through a stone
pillared entrance with five bar gate, and leading to the ample driveway with a turning circle
to the front of the hall. The driveway also gives access to a large double garage, and a single
garage ideal for the sit-on lawn mower.
The handsome façade comprises of a pair of gable ends with a five sided tower, and an ornate
gothic ‘porte-cochere’ porch, with grand arches and a carved coat of arms.
On entering the property via double oak doors, the vestibule, cloakroom and grand hallway
enjoy the retained Minton coloured tiled flooring, and throughout the ground floor the fine
decorative motifs are breathtaking. There are arches with stiff leaf corbels and decorative
architrave creating a grand interior, and an original dresser with its fine carvings and glazed
doors, forming a focal point in the dining room along with matching corner dressers and
enhanced by the open fireplace.
The drawing room with its opulent sparkling Austrian crystal chandelier, handsome fireplace
and decorative ceiling, offers a wonderful spacious room with light flooding in via the large bay
window which overlooks the garden.
The kitchen is well appointed with integrated appliances and Flavel range oven, glazed doors
open to the sun room/conservatory which in turn has stone steps leading to the kitchen garden.
On the lower ground floor the utility room houses the commercial gas fired boiler, plumbing for
washing machine and ample storage space.
From the entrance hall, the stairs rise to the first floor with decorative arched windows creating
a light landing area. The master bedroom has a luxurious en suite, and there are three further
bedrooms with the smaller room being ideal as a dressing room.
The second floor is accessed via the tower staircase and comprises an open eaves space
currently used as a library, four further bedrooms and a family shower room. There is also access
to the private roof terrace which enjoys fabulous far reaching views.
