Thanks to all our parents for taking your time in the drop off line and watching at the crosswalk. Safety of our parents and students walking into the building is most important! Thank you parents and students that joined us for the Walking School Bus. We enjoyed our brisk walk to school! The next few weeks of October are lled with lots of activities. The teachers are using pumpkins, pancakes and apples to teach lessons. Students in rst grade used pancakes last week to learn about changes in matter. Pumpkin math is going to be used in third grade this month. Kinder used apples to work on sorting and states of matter. Comanche s lled with fall smells and activities! We will continue to provide engaging and rigorous lessons for our Spurs. We appreciate your support! INDEPENDENCE CONTINUES Several parents are coming into the building in the mornings and come to the foyer to watch their children go down the hallway. We want to continue promoting independence in our students so that they know where to go and where their classrooms are without a parent escort. We appreciate your help in this matter so that we can begin instruction promptly at

RED RIBBON WEEKDrug Free Week October 22-31, 2018"Life is your journey. Travel drug free!" Each morning there will be a prize drawing during morning announcements for studentswearing their ribbons. Ribbons will be handed out on Monday, October 22. Our Spur Ambassadors will be collecting red food items or any food item with a red label. Theclass with the most donations will win a popcorn party. MONDAY OCTOBER 22-Wear Red, special guests will kick off our drug free week. TUESDAY OCTOBER 23-Camou�age Day-wear camo and help Spurs combat drugs! Wear youfavorite camo shirt or fall shirt. WEDNESDAY OCTOBER 24-Hats off to drugs! Wear your favorite hat to school. THURSDAY OCTOBER 25-Spurs are too bright to do drugs! Wear neon colors and yoursunglasses.

FRIDAY OCTOBER 26-Cowboy up at Spurville! Yee-Haw! Wear your favorite western wear. MONDAY OCTOBER 29-Spurs do not experiment with drugs! Dress as a scientist. TUESDAY OCTOBER 30-Drugs have no character, but SPURS do! Wear your CSES Character t-shirts (Kindness, Compassion, Integrity, Motivation, Character and Perseverance Matters).Nana Puddin will be returning this year to teach about the dangers of drugs and kindness at1:30 for K-5. WEDNESDAY OCTOBER 31-Spurs have good character! Dress as your favorite storybookcharacter. No mask or props will be allowed. Costumes should be appropriate for school.Students must follow dress code requirements.

BIRTHDAY CELEBRATIONSSince Comanche is a Blue Zone school we are allowing parents to bring packaged healthysnacks for birthday celebrations. We still continue to request that parents do not bringcupcakes.
