F P ’ As I mentioned last week, our campaign leadership team has been formed and is already working on various aspects of our parish Capital Campaign: A Living Sacrifice Holy and Acceptable to God. This week I would like to thank them sin-cerely for their time and generosity and provide everyone with a snapshot of what we are looking forward to over the next few weeks. Since starting the preparation phase of the campaign in May, volunteers sacri-ficed a great deal of time and effort to reach our current stage. The work achieved over the last two plus months include: the recruitment of volunteers, training those volunteers to effectively raise funds for our parish, and the pro-duction of our communication materials. The campaign is now in the “silent” phase. Our leadership team, comprised of our general chairs, our campaign cabinet, and myself, recently began the pro-cess of coordinating visits with you, the members of St. Theresa. Please note that this round is only the first wave in our efforts to secure financial support; we have not yet contacted every family. Every registered household at St. The-resa will eventually receive a request for support. I kindly ask for your patience and generosity as we go through the campaign process. It is not too late to join our volunteer team! If you wish to assist in our efforts while making a major impact on the life of this parish, please feel free to con-tact me at your convenience. I encourage you to call the office (281-494-1156) or stop by for a visit. As we build on these steps already taken, please pray for the grace to be aware of God’s continued presence, and ask that He guide us along this path we have begun in sacrifice and praise.

Sincerely yours in Christ,

Rev. Eurel Manzano

Eurel Manzano

SACRED LINENS

Watch this space for more Ministry Spotlights. If you would like to learn more about or get in-volved in any of our ministries, contact us via the website (sugarlandcatholic.com) or by phone. Feel free to contact the ministry coordinator directly. We would love to hear from you!

“I am the living bread which came down from

heaven; if any one eats of this bread, he will live for

ever; and the bread which I shall give for the life of the world is my flesh… He who eats my flesh and drinks my blood has eternal life, and I will raise him up on the last

day” (John 6:35, 51, 54). Sacred Linens are pieces of cloth which are prescribed for use at each celebration of the Holy Mass and are used at the Altar, or nearby, by the priest-celebrant. Because they are come in contact with the Eucharist, the linens carry small amounts of the Sacred Species that need to be handled very carefully with love and rever-ence. In this beautiful ministry, we are able to take care of the linens that were touching the Body and Blood of Jesus Christ. This is a detailed and meticulous ser-vice that you can do for our Lord, and, with Mary’s help, you too can share in the responsibility of caring for Jesus’ linens. Who can be a volunteer in this ministry? Any active Catholic who, because of their firm belief that Jesus is Present at

the Sacrifice of the Altar, is able to commit to a regular schedule of linen care and is able to follow the guidelines and tips prescribed for when the linens are in their custody. We are a blessed group of a volunteers that are divided in two groups; each takes a turn of responsibility once every five or six weeks—during the week or weekend. By being a part of this ministry, you can show your gratitude and love to our Lord. Share your time with the Virgin Mary praying, so that your faith may grow by preparing and fixing the articles that will be used at the Ta-ble of the Lord when He comes.

If you would like more information or have any questions, please contact Maria Elena Rico at

in the Knights of Columbus Hall. From 7:30am - 1:30pm.

Sign up after Mass Today, July 22nd - 23rd.

We are excited to announce that our blood drive, by popular demand, has been

“upgraded” to get 3 automated donating ma-chines. These are much faster than the standard machines! With the new machines your DOU-

BLE donation is cut down to almost HALF that of older machines – from 50 minutes down

to about 25 minutes. Speaking from experi-ence, the double-red donation process is LESS taxing on your bodily system, since water and

unneeded fluids are placed BACK in your body. You can donate double in the same amount of time as whole blood, for LESS

strain on your body! (Also note: the medical provider can use the blood immediately... They don't have to filter and process it.) Please, talk it up amongst your family and friends! Let’s

save even more lives!

For more information, contact Paul Cinque-mani, Blood Drive Chairperson, 832-594-6753.

PRAYER OF SPOUSES FOR EACH OTHER

Lord Jesus, grant that my spouse and I may have a true and understanding love for each other. Grant that we

may both be filled with faith and trust. Give us the grace to live with each other in peace and harmony. May we always bear with one another’s weaknesses and grow from each oth-er’s strengths. Help us to forgive one another’s failings and grant us patience, kindness, cheer-fullness and the spirit of

placing the well-being of one another ahead of self. May the love that brought us together grow and mature with each

passing year. Bring us both ever closer to You through our love for each other. Let our love grow to perfection, for

You live and reign with the Father in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, forever and ever. Amen.

G S M : The hopelessness and sadness that comes from experiencing the loss of a loved one can leave us frozen in place, just trying to cope with everyday life. Support groups are an important tool for finding hope and coping tools on this journey. We are a group of compassionate lay people who also have experienced the death of someone we dearly loved. Join us to listen and share, because no one should grieve alone! For more information please contact Sandy Barber at 832-451-9117 or [email protected]. Perpetual Adoration Ministry: The perpetual adoration ministry is a Eucharistic devotion where people commit to taking an hour to praise and worship Jesus before the Most Blessed Sac-rament. The hour you sign up for is spent in silent prayer and meditation. You may bring your own prayer books, use the books in the chapel, read the Bible, pray the rosary, or just sit and enjoy the peace that comes from simply being in the Presence of God. Adoration is in the Emmaus Chapel, it is open 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. For more information please contact Re-becca Freeman (281) 844-4616. C U : Our vision is to be a service ministry organi-zation, effectively using our gifts and talents to serve the needs within and outside our community. Our mission is to actively encourage involvement in church activities by members of our Spanish-speaking community, to take the lead in celebrating reli-gious feasts, to be available and lend a helping hand to both the church and fellow parishioners, and to promote higher education by granting scholarships to graduating high school seniors who are registered parishioners. For more information please contact George Morales, Jr. at 281-565-5469. L C M : The Lay Carmelites are an order, not an organization. They are one of the oldest religious orders that follow the contemplative life. They live their daily lives in a secular society, evangelizing, serving, and following the examples of the many Carmelite Saints. For more infor-mation please contact Tonie Arizpe at 832-715-6281. P C : The Pastoral Council is made up of 12 members elected to three-year terms who represent parishioners, parish ministries, and parish organiza-tions. The Council serves in a consultative capacity with the Pastor by bringing forth concerns from the community and working with the Pastor to resolve them. The Council also coordinates parish events and helps the parish meet the needs of the parishioners. The Council meets month-ly. Alan Phipps is the current Chairman: 281-410-1856.
