ST. MARY CATHEDRAL LANSING, MICHIGAN
ENROLLMENT AT LCHS Lansing Catholic High School is still accepting applica-tions for the 2017-2018 school year. The first day of school is Tuesday, August 22. POTLUCK The St. Mary Wednesday night potlucks are every Wednesday night at 6pm in the Parish Hall. The pot-lucks have been a great way to share a meal and social-ize/get to know fellow parishioners. All you need to do to attend is to bring a dish to pass, your own table service and $2 if you wish (for the main dish that the cooking team has provided). The cooking teams provide a main dish item as well as beverages. Come join us for the Wednesday night potlucks - you’ll be glad you did! If you would like more information on this or would like to help, please contact Mike or Terri Hecksel at 482-3196.
Well we are into our third week together. By the time you read this, I will have hopefully unpacked all my box-es. Yeah! I am grateful for your patience and prayers during this time. Everyone has been welcoming and very open to my asking questions. If you have questions for me, please let me know. My email address is: [email protected]. I think we had a different one listed for me on the website. If you used that one (I think it had catholic web in the name), it probably bounced back to you. Sorry for the inconvenience. Life with and in Jesus is our goal, and the ultimate end for every human person on this planet. It is a great privi-lege and responsibility we have as followers of Christ to share in God’s plan of salvation and sanctification for the whole human race. I like to think big and remember that we are part of something much greater than we can con-ceive and the details of which we could not possibly keep track. The bigness of it all, keeps us small. We do not have to know everything. We have to listen and respond, or sometimes to listen and be. Our smallness helps us to rely upon God’s guidance, providence, and inspiration. Recognizing and responding to God’s movements is something very near the heart of the spiritual life. Part of my job is to help you to listen, hear, and respond. Where are we going as a parish? Deeper into the heart and life of Jesus, who leads us into the heart and life of the Father. How are we going to get there? In general, through pray-er, service, study, and evangelization. Specifically how we get there is much more difficult to know and is going to take a lot more time to sort out. I want to listen to how all of these things are going on now and are being lived out, and to what has gone on in the past. Then we can sort out what God might be calling us to next. I am in no hurry. We will get to all things as they present them-selves. You are in my prayers. Fr. Karl Pung
PICNIC TIME IS COMING! Our St. Mary Cathedral Parish Picnic will be here soon. Mark your calendars for Sunday, Au-gust 20, 2017 from 4pm until 8pm at Grand Woods Park. Hotdogs, burgers, drinks and table service will be provided. Please bring your favorite dish to pass. A raffle will take place (no charge). Everyone receives a raffle ticket upon arri-val. We need donations for prizes. Homemade items, bought items, restaurant or gas gift cards– your choice! PLEASE NO WHITE ELEPHANTS! You may drop off donations at the Parish office or after Masses in the Sacristy. We will pick them up. We had a marvelous variety (and many) at last year’s event. Let’s see if we can ALL get involved for this great day! Questions? Call Jan & Mike Maurer at 886-6328 or Terri & Mike Hecksel at 482-3196

HOLY SPIRIT ORATORY The Holy Spirit Oratory Eucharistic Adoration Chapel is an intimate prayer chapel that has been in existence for 17 years. It is open 24/7 and is conveniently located at 3815 South Cedar Street, North of Immaculate Heart of Mary Church. This is the perfect place to enter into the Holy Presence of Jesus as he is exposed in the Blessed Sacrament for your adoration. Please, take some time out of your busy day and come and experience Him radiating His love upon you. He patiently waits for your visit. We are in need of individuals who are willing to commit to one hour of adoration each week. Please contact Jack Chan at (517) 668-8113 if you are interested.
SUMMER TIME!!! Just because summer is here and vacations are being planned does not mean that the church is on vacation too. Don’t forget to continue to make your financial con-tributions, as our bills never take a break for the summer!
