Your Path to AICP CertificationEnrollment is open year-round for current students and recent graduates of PAB-accredited programs.
Become AICP Certified! Once your application is approved and you’ve paid initial dues, you become an AICP member!
Earn professional planning experience
Undergraduate degree in planning: three years of experience Graduate degree in planning: two years of experience
Complete the AICP Certification Application
Submit your AICP Certification Application during the June or December window. The application essays assess and verify your professional planning experience.
Submit graduation documentation For graduates, documentation is submitted as part of enrollment
For students, you’ll submit documentation after graduation
Register for and take the AICP Certification Exam
You may register for the exam after your graduation documentation is approved. Your graduation date determines how soon you can take the Certification Exam
AICP Candidate Designation
Upon passing the Certification Exam, you become an “AICP Candidate”. You may use the designation behind your name to demonstrate your accomplishment.
