    UNIT 6. SUBJECTS AND VERBSTEACHERS NOTES

    A sentence must have a subject and a verb.

    The subject of a sentence is the noun or pronoun for the person, animal or thing that doessomething.

    The boldwords in these sentences are subjects of the sentences.

    The verb in a sentence tells you / us what the subject of the sentence does.

    The boldwords in these sentences are the verbs.

    My brother works in an office. Mice had eaten all the cheese.

    Bees were buzzing round the flowers. Fish swim in the sea.

    The train is going very fast. The dog chased the ball.

    The air up on the mountain is so fresh. Both boys study in this school.

    Walk carefully on the wet floor. Zarina likes to eat mangoes.
