SAATIMOTION PEEK fabrics for automove applicaons Poly ether ether ketone (PEEK) is a thermoplasc semi-cristalline polymer belonging the Polyary- letherketone (PAEK) family, characterized by outstanding properes which are maintained even at high temperature. Thermal Properes SaaMoon Peek Fabrics are characterized by a melng point around 320°C and a glass tran- sion temperature around 156°C. Due to this they could be used as an alternave to wire mesh for high temperature applicaon where standard synthec fabrics fail. Chemical Resistance SaaMoon Peek Fabrics show a very high che- mical resistance, even at high temperature. Only concentrated strong acids like sulphuric and nitric acids are capable to dissolve PEEK. Mechanical Resistence SaaMoon Peek Fabrics are characterized by a high mechanical properes, especially in terms of wear and fricon resistance. Hydrolysis Resistance SaaMoon Peek Fabrics are suitable for ap- plicaons in which a significant hydrolysis re- sistance is required. Steam and high pressure water do not affect fabric mechanical proper- es, even aſter a long exposure. Due to their properties PEEK fabrics are ideal for filtration application as substitution of traditional filter media, such as PA, PES, PP or Wire mesh. Below a typical PEEK fabric application in automotive filtration:

Injector filters

Typically injector filters are realized using PA mesh or Wire mesh. Both these solutions show potential limitations:• wire mesh could grant high temperature and chemical

resistance, but on the on the other hand it has poor fa-tigue resistance and requires expensive and dedicated toolings for injection molding process.

• PA mesh on the other hand has the tendency to swell when in contact with hot fuels and it shows poor resi-stance with particular bio fuel blends, which could lead to in filed failure and damage.

PEEK fabrics are the ideal solutions for this applications, since they could match chemical, thermal and mechanical proper-ties of wire mesh with the easiness of handling of synthetic materials.

Other applications:• Screen for resonator: depending on the air intake configuration it could be important to have a

fabric with an enhanced chemical resistance to protect the sound dampening system.• Oil filter bypass: typically oil filter bypass are made of PA or PES mesh. In case a long exposure

to high temperature is required (>150°C), PEEK fabrics are the solution to grant the filtration performances over the entire life of the filter.
