SABR Updates

CP Annual Training – Fall 2015

• Likely to be held at the ODOT Headquarters in Columbus

• Suggestions for training presentations???

Ohio Brownfield Conference 2015

Late March/Early April, 2015Venue TBD (will be announced this May)

PLANS: Two day conference in Central Ohio Five breakout sessions Room for 45-50 exhibitors Call for Presentations will start late Summer Registration will open early 2015 What would you like to see added or different from previous years?

Brownfields Funding Workshop(aka Local, State & Federal Resources to Redevelop Blighted Properties)

Marietta, Ohio

• Friday, May 8 from 9:00 am – 1:00pm (Networking lunch after)

• Registration required (we only have room for 30 attendees so space will be limited)

• Because of space restrictions, we will open up registration for CPs and CLs after local community economic development officials have had a chance to register – stay tuned!

TBA Update- FFY15

• Total Funding (Federal and State) = $580,000• 10 completed projects to date – all Phase Is or

Asbestos Inspections (some both)• 20 projects are in process (11 targeted

sampling projects and 9 Phase I or Asbestos projects)

• 8 Potential projects in the queue

TBA = CP Competition????

• Site can be privately owned – public entity needs to get access for Ohio EPA staff and contractors to conduct investigation work

• Free Phase Is!! Many environmental consulting firms do not even conduct these anymore

• TBA Phase IIs are focused sampling and ecological assessments (ICI, IBI, QHEI). We frequently work in partnership with CPs on Phase II projects. Can often get work done that CP would have had to subcontract

• Work gets done that CP cannot or does not do, community saves money, CP looks like hero for knowing about this great resource!

Abandoned Gas Station Cleanup Grant Program (aka HB64)

• Will establish $20MM Service Station Cleanup Fund• Grantee must be political subdivision• Grant funding will likely be a maximum of $200,000 for

assessment and $1MM for cleanup• Funding can be used for assessment and cleanup of

hazardous substances, when associated with a tank release site

• Only sites with Class C releases eligible under language as introduced. ODSA considering including other abandoned tank sites.
