These next few weeks of summer are precious time to relax, take a breath of sweet air & enjoy time with family & friends. It’s also time to reflect on the past events which have happened in the parish over the previous year, how you were able to participate & work together with folks from the parish in a more
active way. There are so many good educational programs& volunteering opportunities to be involved. Choir, alter server, lectors, EMs, ushers, greeters, Stephens Ministries, Soup Kitchen volunteers, Sewing Group and so many others groups. The devotional meetings are also meaningful & ongoing like the Knights of Columbus & the Marian Society. Please consider what God is calling you to do to grow closer & closer to the church, its members & the Heart of our Blessed Mother & the Trinity. We have had in the past a Golden Days Hot Dog Sale during the day of the Parade. We sold Hot Dogs, chips, soda, cotton candy & bottled water. Fr. Fred said would like to make it happen if possible. We have not heard of anyone taking the “bull by the horns” to jump at the opportunity to make some $$ for their group. Perhaps word didn’t get out that this is an option for a group however it still can be done even at this late date. There’s not much but to do; heat the dogs in the kitchen, BBQ at the site, chill the soda, make some signs, make the cotton candy – we even have a popcorn machine. Talk to your group & form a committee. Talk to a Parish Council member & get necessary fundraising You also would need to decide the ministry the funds would go to & make sure you have set-up, clean-up & enough volunteers to manage all the hours of operation.
Volunteers, Leaders & Organizers basically have been in short supply in recent years. Everyone knows the syndrome of the same group of volunteers making the events come off for the organization. We know who you are. You are deeply appreciated, for all that you continue to do. We simply want to encourage new
members of the parish to get involved & really share the joy of working closely with people who have so much to offer you & your family. That being said, many of the former teams are taking a breather to recharge their batteries. There is a strong possibility the team could come back to help train new members of waiting events. For instance, Mardi Gras has been postponed until we find more volunteers. We have a few examples of events waiting for new leadership. These events are a means to bring the parish together more & more & shaping us in fellowship in the Love of Jesus, with the ICC Body of Christ. Please continue to spend time in meditation with the Holy Spirit who dwells within & listen to the prompting. All children of God have been given certain gifts & talents which are completely unique to just your being. No one else can do what He is asking of you. As you accept the “assignment”, you will be gifted increasingly more grace to manifest the life giving LOVE & LIGHT, which will bring others to desire knowing, loving & serving too. Our journey is absolutely blessed – it may seem like Mission Impossible sometimes – just pick up His/Your Cross & Follow Him. Mother of Mercy is beside you, covering you with her mantel. Jesus I trust in You. Fear Not. Pray, meditate & volunteer. More blessing will follow. I have been crucified with Christ: yet I live, no longer I, but Christ lives in me: insofar as I now live in the flesh, I live by faith in the Son of God who has loved me I given Himself for me. (Gal 2:20) Amen
