Applicant Eligibility: All applicants should follow these following criteria: - Must be graduating in 2016 from a high school in Sacramento County and Yolo County, California - Cumulative GPA of 2.5 minimum (Unofficial transcript) - Proof of future enrollment in an accredited college - Resume - Short Personal statement that describe your career goals and involvement within the Hmong community (min of 250 words, max of 500 words) - Submit an essay answering the following question(s) in English (max of 600 words, double space - include word count): Define a Hmong community leader. If you were a Hmong community leader, what would you do to improve the Hmong community? Selection of Scholarship Recipients SHNY Education’s Scholarship Selection Committee will make awards based on the recipient’s demonstrated commitment to the Hmong community, abilities, academic achievements, career goals, civic activities, and leadership skills. All applicants will be notified by email of the status of their application by July 8th, 2016 regardless of outcome.

Program Goals: Sacramento Hmong New Year’s Education Department (SHNYED) supports and promotes K-12 education and higher education within the Hmong community in Sacramento by offering scholarship opportunities to students while preserving the Hmong heritage. v Personal Statement and essay Please provide a written statement using font size 11 or 12 and double-spaced with word count. The length for the personal statement should be at least 250 words, but no more than 500 words. The length for the essay should not exceed 600 words. Do not include your name on any of the pages of the personal statement and the essay.

v Resume Please submit your resume using font size 11 or 12. The resume should not exceed 1 standard letter-sized pages in total length.

v Certifications I understand that late or incomplete applications will not be considered. My ability to accurately follow instruction will be considered during the selection process. I understand that I will forfeit my award if I do not attend the awards banquet. A one-month notice will be given to the applicant on when and where the banquet will take place.
