Sacred Heart Catholic Church Easter Sunday of the Resurrection of the Lord –April 14, 2019 Reflection from the Pastor: Our participation in the Eucharist is the renewal of our membership in the covenant with Christ: “When we eat this Bread and drink this Cup, we proclaim your death, O Lord, until you come again (Memorial Acclamation, cf. 1 Cor. 11:26).” The grace of the Eucharist is communion in the charity of Christ, which unites the human person to God and to the Church. To God and to the Church! By our reception of Holy Communion, we become one in charity, one in love, with Christ and his Body, the Church. This is why it is never about “me and Jesus”, as if we could exclude the rest of his Body. We are saved only in so far as we are united to his Body the Church! Coming to Holy Mass and effectively loving our brothers and sisters in Christ are really two sides of the same coin. Strong families know that if they don’t spend time together on a regular basis, the family bond weakens. Even if the baby brother is screaming, mom is bored and dad is worried about something, being together is necessary for strong families. When we come to Mass, we hope that we’re never bored, or preoccupied or making a fuss, but just as strong families know being together is more important than having everything perfect, we come to Holy Mass because we need to be with Christ and His Body! I want to wish my parish family a very happy Easter! I am glad that we are together today, united as one in the Holy Eucharist. Fr. Sacred Heart Catholic Church Easter Sunday of the Resurrection of the Lord –April 14, 2019

Reflection from the Pastor:

Our participation in the Eucharist is the renewal of our membership

in the covenant with Christ: “When we eat this Bread and drink this Cup,

we proclaim your death, O Lord, until you come again (Memorial

Acclamation, cf. 1 Cor. 11:26).” The grace of the Eucharist is communion

in the charity of Christ, which unites the human person to God and to the

Church. To God and to the Church! By our reception of Holy

Communion, we become one in charity, one in love, with Christ and his

Body, the Church. This is why it is never about “me and Jesus”, as if we

could exclude the rest of his Body. We are saved only in so far as we are

united to his Body the Church! Coming to Holy Mass and effectively

loving our brothers and sisters in Christ are really two sides of the same

coin.

Strong families know that if they don’t spend time together on a

regular basis, the family bond weakens. Even if the baby brother is

screaming, mom is bored and dad is worried about something, being

together is necessary for strong families. When we come to Mass, we hope

that we’re never bored, or preoccupied or making a fuss, but just as strong

families know being together is more important than having everything

perfect, we come to Holy Mass because we need to be with Christ and His

Body! I want to wish my parish family a very happy Easter! I am glad that

we are together today, united as one in the Holy Eucharist.

¡Felicidades!

Richard, Alex Giles y Ana Giles.
