An Act of Spiritual Communion My Jesus, I believe that You are present in the Most Holy Sacrament. I love You above all things, and I desire to receive You into my soul. Since I cannot at this moment receive You sacramentally, come at least spiritually into my heart. I embrace You as if You were already there and unite myself wholly to You. Never permit me to be separated from You. Amen.

Dear Parishioners, Here in our Partnering Parishes, we are very blessed to have each other, caring and supporting one another in living, celebrating and sharing the faith we treasure! May the Lord continue to be our source of holiness, strength and protection, despite the many challenges we face, as we move forward together! November 1st We begin November honoring All Saints and rejoicing in all the men and women, blest in the eyes of the Lord, who celebrate the heavenly liturgy. They stand in God’s holy presence and place and sing of the love the Father has bestowed upon them through the blood of the Lamb. First Holy Communion At the 10AM Mass today, seven of our children will receive their First Holy Communion. Please pray for them and their families. Together with them, may we renew our faith and reverence for Jesus in the Most Blessed Sacrament, the source and summit of our lives. Please note, a plenary indulgence is granted to the faithful who receive Holy Communion for the first time or who devoutly assist at the First Holy Communion of others. The Annual Eucharistic Devotion of the Forty Hours takes place at St. Charles Borromeo Church beginning Wednesday, November 4th, Thursday, November 5th and Friday, November 6, 2020. The schedule is: Morning Mass at 8:30A.M. followed by Exposition and Adoration throughout the day, and concluding at 7PM with Evening Prayer and Benediction. The Sacrament of Penance will be celebrated on the first two evenings. I encourage you to sign up for Adoration during these special days of grace. A plenary indulgence is granted to the faithful who visit Our Lord in the Most Blessed Sacrament for adoration lasting at least a half-hour; and who participate in the solemn days of Eucharistic Devotion and Benediction. This special time of grace f or our parish provides opportunities To renew our faith and reverence for Our Lord’s abiding presence in the Sacrament of the Most Holy Eucharist. Secondly; To grow in a deeper and more intimate union with Our Lord; To make acts of reparation for any sins, outrages, sacrileges, and indifference which offend Our Lord). We will observe the solemn celebration of the Feast of St. Charles Borromeo (the Sunday closest to his day) on the weekend of November 7th and 8th at all the Masses next weekend. Opening of Mass Book I wish to announce that the Mass Books for our Partnering Parishes will open the week of November 2, 2020 at both rectories. The opening of the Mass Book coincides with the month of November, dedicated to all the souls of the faithful departed. Our Catholic faith teaches us to remember our beloved dead in our daily prayers and to have the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass offered for their happy repose in God’s mercy. In addition, Masses are offered for special intentions and for special occasions. Please consider scheduling Masses for those Intentions you have for your loved ones, living or deceased, trying to limit your initial requests to 5 Intentions. Normal Mass Offering: With the opening of the new Mass Book, I need to make a change in the requested offering in light of the updated guidelines & policies for the Archdiocese of Philadelphia. In order to be in full compliance with the norms, the customary offering for each Mass is no more than ten dollars. The priest who celebrates or concelebrates a Mass with a definite intention is to receive the offering. The faithful who make an offering so that Mass can be celebrated for their intention contribute to the good of the Church, and by the offering they share in the Church’s concern for the support of its ministers, and its activities. It is good for us to know that our Churches offer Masses for “collective intentions”. A Mass with a collective intention means that intentions for many people are accepted for the same Mass, for example: All Souls’ Day, or Mass for the Holy Souls, Mother’s Day and Father’s Day, and the Living & Deceased of the Parish, to name a few. Unannounced Mass Intentions: We accept Unannounced Mass Intentions. Although we cannot tell you when these Masses will be offered, we can assure you that they will be given to priests who do not have a regular source of Mass Intentions, e.g., Priests in special ministry who offer Mass in schools and other institutions, our Retired Priests at Villa Saint Joseph, Darby, our Priests at St. Charles Seminary, or sent to Priests in the foreign Missions through the Office for the Propagation of the Faith. Sincerely yours in Christ, Monsignor George A. Majoros 092-3

FEAST OF ALL SAINTS Reflection by Rev. Leonard N.
Peterson
After counting the racks of birthday cards, I believe the next largest display of cards for purchase are found in the “Congratulations” section. I’m certain the same holds true for those popular electronic greetings. Why is that do you suppose? One simple answer is that you and I have a birthday each year. But in the course of our lives certain special events come along that we celebrate as high points, often one of a kind. So there are congratulatory cards for engagements and weddings; anniversaries and graduations; new babies, new jobs and new homes; yes even for retirements. The cards can be spiritual or silly, but at best they mark the event as significant enough to call for a card. Only God can congratulate us for living the way He thinks we should. This idea is at the heart of the familiar beatitudes that we read on this All Saints Day. Jesus is saying “Blest” or “Happy” or “Fortunate” are those who can look beyond the measures of this world to realize they are headed for a great reward in heaven. So the poor in spirit, the mourners and the meek, the merciful, the peacemakers and the persecuted, the inheritors and those athirst for holiness will attain that goal. Even those who suffer insult and persecution for being Jesus’ followers have every reason to hope in God and trust His Word. Who then are these people from all over the globe that we call saints? They are no more nor less than people who lived like everyone should but who did it better than most of us. I think we’re justified in adding to the official Church list the names of holy people we knew well even though there may never be a side altar dedicated to them. Some of them might even be from our own families. You could say that we saw them as “living holy cards.” Once upon a time a Protestant minister came up with the clever slogan that these eight statements of Our Lord express the “Be-Attitude” in life. True enough. But equally true is the fact that if we wish to dwell in the “house of many mansions,” then we must make our reservations well in advance. God love you and give you His peace! 092-5
