Bible Study Beginning on October 16th the Wednesday night Bible Study Group will be reading and discussing the

book, Letter to A Suffering Church, by Bishop Robert Barron. For the next several Wednesday nights,

starting at 6:30p.m. all are welcome. Copies of the book are available with us in the Church Hall.

Bulletin Column Holy Family

We are all familiar with today’s gospel story from Matthew’s gospel. The Magi leave, Joseph has a dream. The angel

tells him to take Mary and the child to Egypt because Herod is seeking to destroy the child. Herod dies. They return.

Joseph is afraid to take them back to Judea so they move to Nazareth, in Galilee to fulfill a prophecy. What is the point

of this story? It perfectly describes, I think, what family is all about – the preservation of the family unit; the protection

of family members; the love of mother and father for each other and for the child. This is all done out of obedience to

the Will of God, out of love for God, and in imitation of the love God has for us.

Is family life difficult sometimes? Yes! Is it impossible? No! – not when we follow the model given us by the

Most perfect Holy Family.

God bless you all,

Fr. Guy

On behalf of our priests in good standing, thank you for your generous support of last week’s Christmas collection to benefit the Clergy Health and Retirement Trust. The strength and vibrancy of our communities depend on the health and well-being of our priests. Truly, healthier priests build stronger communities. If you missed our Christmas collection, you can still make a gift by using the special collection en-velopes in the pews, or by going online to clergytrust.org Thank you again for your generosity. Please follow us on Facebook or visit us at cergytrust.org to learn more about the ways you can support our priests. Thank you for your prayers and support. Funds from this special collection are managed by the Clergy Health and Retirement Trust—an independently managed trust with a majority lay board of trustees. The funds are used for the sole benefit of active and senior priests in good standing.

Perpetual Candles at Sacred Heart

We are blessed to have three sacred spaces with candles at which we can light a candle for our

prayers and special intentions.

These candles can be used for weekly visits, as many of you already do. There is also the pos-

sibility to reserve a candle for a month(s) or a year. Some of the intentions for which a num-

ber of parishioners have reserved candles:

Deceased or living family

Condolence for friends or family

Anniversary of Marriage

Birthday

Automatically with the condolences, we send a letter to notify the grieving family of the candle

lit in our church for their loved one. We can also send a letter when requested for the others.

Visit one of our candle devotional spaces to light a candle. Fill out the form below to re-

Prayer to Saint Michael:

Saint Michael, the Archangel, defend us in battle, be

our defense against the wickedness and snares of the

devil. May God rebuke him, we humbly pray; and do

thou, O Prince of the heavenly host, by the power of

God, thrust into Hell Satan and the other evil spirits

who prowl about the world for the ruin of souls.

Amen.

Preghiera a San Michele:

San Michele Arcangelo, difendici nella battaglia; sii tu nostro sostegno contro la perfidia e le insidie del diavolo; che Dio eserciti il suo dominio su di lui, te ne preghiamo supplichevoli; e tu, o Principe della milizia celeste, con la potenza divina, ricaccia nell'inferno satana e gli altri spiriti maligni i quali errano nel mondo per perdere le anime. AMEN.
