MASS OF REMEMBRANCE
AND HEALING
On the Visitation of the Blessed Virgin Mary
This Mass is for anyone who has suffered the loss of a child/grandchild through illness, accident, still birth, abortion,
miscarriage or has suffered from infertility.
The Sacrament of Reconciliation will be celebrated at 6:30 pm
All are welcome to a reception with refreshments after Mass
Contact Allison Hesse (507-358-6323) or Andrea Teska (507-474-7217) for more information
As announced at last weekend’s Masses, Deacon Brian Mulligan, who will be ordained a priest on June 8th, has been assigned as the parochial vicar for our two parishes, effective July 2nd. Please
keep him and Deacon The Hoang in your prayers as they get closer to the day of their ordination as priests. Please keep Matt Wagner also in your prayers as he will be ordained a transitional deacon on June 3rd. Both of these ordination Masses will be celebrated at the Cathedral. Prayerful congratulations to our newly confirmed parishioners! We had a beautiful celebration of Confirmation last Sunday at the Basilica of St. Stanislaus Kostka. I am very grateful to Julie Fitzgerald and her catechists who prepared the majority of our candidates for this sacrament. I am also very grateful to some Cathedral dads who prepared their sons for the same sacrament. Thank you to all those who participated in, and supported, last Saturday’s We Walk By Faith: Walk and Wag. There was no rain this year—a great blessing for this youth fundraiser! We celebrate Memorial Day this Monday, May 28th. May we be ever grateful to all those who lost their lives in the service and defense of our country. In addition, we pray for our deceased loved ones. There will be the usual 7:00am Mass, that day, at the Cathedral. As is our Winona custom, Mass will also be celebrated that morning, at 9:00, at St. Mary’s Cemetery. If the weather should cause us to move indoors, that Mass will be celebrated at St. Stan’s. Please come and join in one of the Masses that day. At the least, take some time to visit a cemetery or say a prayer for those who have died. Thank you for your generosity to this year’s Catholic Ministries Appeal. Please contribute, if you have yet to do so. Our parishes continue to get closer and closer to our goals. Thank you for your great kindness!

Today is The Most Holy Trinity Sunday: The Father, Son and Holy Spirit, Three persons in One God. Holy God we praise Your Name! We welcome Father Dernek this
weekend, as I attend my youngest niece Erica’s graduation in Colorado. The Memorial Day Mass is on Monday, May 28 at the St. Mary’s Cemetery in Winona at 9:00am. If inclement weather, it will be held at the Basilica of St. Stanislaus. Thanks to all who make our cemetery a beautiful holy resting place for our deceased loved ones through their generosity and care. Thanks to Curt Harris and administrative team and the entire cemetery staff. Thanks to the St. Mary’s Cemetery Trustees including John Bronk our parish representative. May the souls of the faithful departed, rest in peace… Looking forward to meeting with the River City Festival Committee chaired by Ryan and Kate Friesen on Wednesday, May 30th, in the Visitation Commons, at 6:30pm. All are welcome to attend to plan for this year’s Annual River City Festival on October 14.
WEEKLY REFLECTION Trinity Sunday is a day set aside to celebrate God’s “three in one” nature in a special way. Theologians over centuries have struggled with attempts to explain an idea that, for us, borders on the incomprehensible. Although we may have difficulty in fully understanding the concept of the Trinity, all of us affirm this doctrine every time we make the Sign of the Cross! When we say: “In the NAME…,” we refer to only one, undivided God. Our Hebrew roots and Christian traditions remind us that God’s name has always been representative of the one God (“I AM WHO AM”), and our choice of “name” speaks to our belief in God’s unity. When we continue our Sign of the Cross with mention of the Father, and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, we specifically identify the three Persons in God. We don’t lump them all together, and we use the word “and” to distinguish them from each other. This may not make us theologians on the deep meaning of the Trinity, but let’s acknowledge how deep a truth of our faith we confess each time we sign ourselves in the Name of the Father, and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit! AMEN!!

MEMORIAL TO THE PREBORN VICTIMS OF ABORTION St. Mary's Cemetery in Winona has a very special monument to the preborn victims
of abortion. The Knights of Columbus, Council 639 and the Catholic Daughters, Court 191 are responsible for contributions to make this memorial possible, which was dedicated in 1997. The Winona Monument Company provided expertise in projecting the beautiful message on granite stone. To find the memorial, take the main entrance by the Armory (off County Road 17) and go up the hill. At the top of the hill on the left is the monument. With Memorial Day here, make some time to visit this beautiful memorial and say a prayer for the preborn babies who have lost their lives to abortion and for their mothers and fathers and everyone else affected by this great loss.
