SACRED HEART WADSWORTH, OHIO Today is the Feast of Divine Mercy as proclaimed by Pope John Paul II when he canonized St. Fausna nineteen years ago. How fing that the Church has given us so great a feast to celebrate a week aſter Easter Sunday. This, of course, was not just the idea of the Pope or any human being, but it is what Jesus asked St. Fausna to pray for and to urge others to pray for; a Feast of Divine Mercy to be celebrated by the whole world. It is very important that we celebrate this feast because the mercy of God is at the heart of the Gospel. This is why God became man, suffered, died on the cross, and rose from the dead, so that we might know the great love and mercy of God. How sad that so many in the world do not know of the mercy of God. They really believe that God will not forgive them. They put limitaons on Gods mercy and that is impossible because there is no limit to the mercy of God. If we believe in what we celebrated last Sunday, then we must believe in Gods love and mercy. If we believe in His Divine Mercy, then we must seek that mercy and proclaim it to all we meet. Mercy is not always easy for us to believe in nor is it always easy to give to one who has hurt us. Mercy may indeed come easily to God because He loves us so much. So, if we love more, we too, can forgive more easily the hurts that we endure in our lives. None of us deserves Gods mercy. He bestows it on us because He loves us so much; so much that He willingly died a horrible death so that we might have life; eternal life. We might do well to reflect on these words from the diary of St. Fausna as she records the words Jesus spoke to her, “[Let] the greatest sinners place their trust in My mercy. They have the right before others to trust in the abyss of My mercy. My daughter, write about My mercy towards tormented souls. Souls that make an appeal to My mercy delight Me. To such souls I grant even more graces than they ask. I cannot punish even the greatest sinner if he makes an appeal to My compassion, but on the contrary, I jusfy him in My unfathomable and inscrutable mercy. Write: before I come as a just Judge, I first open wide the door of My mercy. He who refuses to pass through the door of My mercy must pass through the door of My jusce. In the meanme we are all sll at home and wondering when we will get back to our lives. It is difficult for many people especially the elderly and those who live alone. Please pray for these and try to reach out to neighbors and family members who are alone. Please pray for one another and be kind to your family members at home even when it is not easy, even when things get a lile tense. Our prayers are the most powerful weapon we have against loneliness or discouragement because prayer helps us to remember that God is always there for us and loves us more than we can ever imagine. Please consider following our parish on Face Book. It is a quick and easy way to be able to see the Mass every day, Deacon Richs daily presentaons, and just other good things about the parish and our Catholic Faith. Check out a new program you can watch through Face Book called the Chosen. It is a series of eight episodes from the Gospel. They are each about 40 minutes or so. They are not word for word from the Gospel. The creators try to add some back stories on different events that are portrayed, but they do so to enhance the lesson that is already there. One of the episodes is about Jesus and the children. It is very beauful and insighul. I am very grateful to all who made our Easter Mass so very prayerful and beauful; Fr. Pat, Deacon Rich, our music ministry: Eric Pandrea, Sue Fajt, Holly Linger, Peggy Andrews, Carol Mancini, and Andrew Bebesi and of course, Chris Bo behind the camera. It was a very beauful Mass considering the mes and circumstances. Gods wonderful giſts make so much possible for so many. God bless all for your devoon to the prayer life of our parish family.

SACRED HEART WADSWORTH, OHIO

Today is the Feast of Divine Mercy as proclaimed by Pope John Paul II when he canonized St. Faustina nineteen years ago. How fitting that the Church has given us so great a feast to celebrate a week after Easter Sunday. This, of course, was not just the idea of

the Pope or any human being, but it is what Jesus asked St. Faustina to pray for and to urge others to pray for; a Feast of Divine Mercy to be celebrated by the whole world. They put limitations on God’s mercy and that is impossible because there is no limit to the mercy of God. If we believe in what we celebrated last Sunday, then we must believe in God’s love and mercy. None of us deserves God’s mercy. He bestows it on us because He loves us so much; so much that He willingly died a horrible death so that we might have life; eternal life. We might do well to reflect on these words from the diary of St. Faustina as she records the words Jesus spoke to her, “[Let] the greatest sinners place their trust in My mercy. They have the right before others to trust in the abyss of My mercy. My daughter, write about My mercy towards tormented souls. Souls that make an appeal to My mercy delight Me. To such souls I grant even more graces than they ask. I cannot punish even the greatest sinner if he makes an appeal to My compassion, but on the contrary, I justify him in My unfathomable and inscrutable mercy. Write: before I come as a just Judge, I first open wide the door of My mercy. He who refuses to pass through the door of My mercy must pass through the door of My justice.” In the meantime we are all still at home and wondering when we will get back to our lives. It is difficult for many people especially the elderly and those who live alone. Please pray for these and try to reach out to neighbors and family members who are alone. Please pray for one another and be kind to your family members at home even when it is not easy, even when things get a little tense. Divine Mercy Sunday On the evening of that first day of the week, the doors were closed in the room where the dis-ciples were, for fear of the Jews. Jesus came and stood in their midst and said to them, “Peace be with you.” When he had said this, he showed them his hands and his side. The disciples rejoiced when they saw the Lord. He said to them again, “Peace be with you. As the Father has sent me, so I send you.” After saying this he breathed on them and said, “Receive the Holy Spirit. Whose sins you forgive are forgiven them, and whose sins you retain, are retained.” Thomas, called the twin, who was one of the Twelve, was not with them when Jesus came. The other disciples said to him, “We have seen the Lord,” but he answered, “Unless I can see the mark of the nails in his hands and put my finger into the nail marks and put my hand into his side, I will not believe.” And after eight days later the disciples were in the house again and Thomas was with them. The doors were closed and locked but Jesus came in and stood in their midst and said, “Peace be with you.” Then he spoke to Thomas, “Put your finger here, and see my hands and bring your hand and put it into my side, and do not be unbelieving, but believe.” Thomas answered and said, “My Lord and my God!” Jesus said to him. “You believe because

you can see me. Blessed are those who have not seen and yet believe.”

A Great Side Benefit!

The coronavirus lockdown affords us the affirmation of our home as a place of prayer -- the establishment of the home as the domestic church. The term “Domestic Church” refers to the family, the smallest body of gathered believers in Christ.

Welcoming Jesus into our home as King, Savior, and Friend, through the Enthronement of the Sacred Heart of Jesus, is a conscious decision to place Jesus at the center of our lives and home! This devotion is centered on the love of Jesus Christ and establishes His Heart as the heart of our home.

You can officially and substantially enthrone your home! Obtain an image of the Sacred Heart of Jesus, the Ceremony of Prayer, and the Certificate of Enthronement, by contacting the Legion of Mary to have it delivered to your door. Call Shari at 330-336-0612. (Select a particular one; pictures are framed, and free of course.)

The reign of the Sacred Heart over hearts and homes draws families closer to Jesus
