2nd Sunday of Easter At a recent community meeting, many residents were expressing their fears—fears of crime, terrorism, the economy, health care, etc. It seems as though we are controlled by fear. People base their decisions and ac-tions on the negative things that might happen, rather than the positive things that could happen. Such nega-tive thinking only engenders more fear and apprehension, drowning out the possibility of a better, more cre-ative society. The Apostles lived in fear. They hid in the upper room, wondering what was happening and if they would be the next victims of Roman wrath. They did not yet understand that Jesus had risen from the dead, or that they were about to embark on a mission of teaching the Good News. They could only wonder about what was next. Into this room comes Jesus. He offers them proof of His identity, showing His hands and His side. More so, He reassures them and confers on them the gift of the Holy Spirit. Whatever we need to overcome our fear, Jesus will provide. The strength we draw from our faith will ena-ble us to accomplish our mission and all that God intends for us to do. We do not have to live in fear. We can become, as St. Francis prayed, instruments of peace, bringing love, joy, light, and peace to a world that lives in fear. Be confident and courageous. Act on the truth of the Lord’s Resurrection and His promise to be with us always. The peace of the Lord will comfort and guide you.

The Chaplet of Divine Mercy Sunday - April 12, 2015 - 2:00pm
The message of The Divine Mercy is simple. It is that God loves us - all of us. And, he wants us to recog-nize that His mercy is greater than our sins, so that we will call upon
Him with trust, receive His mercy, and let it flow through us to others. Thus, all will come to share His joy.

The Easter collection for the Clergy Health and Retirement Trust supported the health and well-being of our 628 active and senior diocesan priests. Thanks to your generosity our parish contribution will have a significant impact on the care
we are able to provide for our priests. If you were out of town this past weekend, or did not have the opportunity to participate, all are welcome to make a donation online at www.clergyfunds.org. On behalf of all our priests, thank you for your gener-ous support of the Clergy Health and Retirement Trust.
Please Note: If you are interested in any Mass that is available, as shown in the bulletin, kindly see Fr. Mark in the Sacristy on the day of the Mass and he will take your intention.
Next weekend our second collection is for The Missionary Society of St. James the Apostle. The Missionary Society of St. James the Apostle, founded by Richard Cardi-nal Cushing in 1958, is an international organization of diocesan missionary priests who volunteer a minimum of five years of their priestly lives to service in Peru and Ecua-dor. In their 50 years of service, the St. James Society has welcomed members from the United States as well as from Canada, England, Scotland, Ireland, Wales, Australia, New Zealand, and the Philippines. They depend upon the prayers and the financial support of people like you who share their interest in spreading the good news of Jesus Christ and in creating a better world for people who have been called “The poorest of the poor.”
