It’s Summer, and SAFE is Feeling the Heat! Summer is the hardest time of year at SAFE. Adoptions and

donations are always at their lowest, and costs are at their

highest. We have higher electric bills due to the increase in air

conditioning use, and water bills are higher because we need

doggie pools and sprinklers in the dog play area to keep our

canine buddies cool. The vast majority of funds are spent on

veterinary care, but these additional costs place a burden on

SAFE at a time when income is at its lowest.

SAFE’s funds are critically low at this time. We need your do-

nations! We have fundraisers as often as possible, but it’s not

enough. Please donate and help us continue our mission to

save animals who so desperately need us!

Together We Make a Difference This newsletter is dedicated to all those who help make a difference in

the lives of SAFE’s rescued pets. It is only together that we have been

able to save the lives of so many. The hard-working staff provide

clean, safe spaces, fresh food and water, medical care, and lots of love

for all the pets! SAFE has many dedicated volunteers who help with

walking dogs, cuddling cats, playing, fostering, transporting, and giving

lots of attention to our pets to let them know they are safe and loved.

Donors and volunteers have also helped SAFE provide veterinary care

and maintain its buildings and properties. Enjoy all the pictures of

SAFE pets along with just a few of the many special people like you

who help SAFE every day.

This year SAFE lost a very special volunteer. Hank Mangum volun-

teered with SAFE for ten years, fostering, transporting, fixing up the

facilities—anything SAFE needed, Hank would be there. He and his wife

Zettie could always be counted on to transport or help in any way needed. Hank was a lover of dachs-

hunds and a one-of-a-kind gentle soul. Hank passed away in January and is missed by everyone at SAFE.

SAFE Pet Rescue — Saving Animals From Euthanasia

There’s a lot of love at SAFE!

The special care given to SAFE pets would not be possible without all the dedicated staff, volunteers and donors! Thank you to eve-

ryone who helps out in any way possible. Every dollar donated and every minute volunteered makes a difference to the animals!
