Industrial clothing is designed to protect you against chemicalhazards, heat and re, electric shocks, cold conditions and ionisingradiation. Where your personal saety is an issue and you need tobe seen, it is imperative that you wear high visibility clothing.

According to Australian and New Zealand Standard AS/NZS4602:1999 High-Visibilty Saety Garments, there are three classes ohigh-visibility garments.

CLASS D CLASS N CLASS D/N

A garment designedor outdoor daytimeuse only.Uses fuorescent orother non-retrofectivehigh-visibility material.

A garment designed ornight-time use only.Uses retrorefectiveelements on anunspecied background.

A garment designed orboth day and night use.Comprisesretrorefective elementson a fuorescent orother non-retrorefectivehigh-visibility backgroundmaterial.

I you are required to work in the early evening, it is better topurchase a Class D/N garment as this will enhance visibility duringthe winter months and daylight saving periods.

The Standard species the visual requirements or high-visibilitysaety garments. These are worn by people in situations wherethey may be exposed to various hazards such as moving trac ormoving plant equipment in the charge o an on-board controller.

The Standard covers garments suitable or daytime wear and night-

time wear where they will be seen by retrorefected light, or orwear under both conditions.

NOTE: This Standard covers only the visual requirements o garments. It does not cover theirphysical integrity or tness or use in adverse physical environments.
