(3) ART DU VAL seems a nice horse on the making. Runner-up in the coveted Listed Prix Isonomy last year at Deauville, he has since won very easily his only start and that was in Meydan last February. He will be fit and ready to go despite the absence and is the choice ahead of the unexposed (1) BOARDMAN. (4) TANTPISPOUREUX is on the up and can spring a surprise.

5. PANDA SEVEN - Posted a creditable first start effort at Dieppe three weeks ago and can be given some consideration

6. MATELLO - Newcomer by Intello out of UK maiden winner Mama Lulu. Third foal to run and no winner yet

Summary

(3) ASSIER ran far too keen on his debut at the venue. Andre Fabre has given him one month to settle and the son of Invicible Spirit benefits from a seven pounds claims that could make all the difference. (2) VINYL TRACK ran well first time out and has been supplemented. (1) AARHUS is sure to come a long way from his first run and can spring a surprise.

1. CHECKPOINT CHARLIE - Very consistent sort in condition races. Failed to sparkle in sole start at this level last year

2. SWEET MAN - Eight starts maiden who seems under a tough mark on handicap debut. Others make more appeal

3. AUZEBOSC - Won a competitive handicap last back end but has had behavior issues on both his starts this term

4. BROKEBACK MOUNTAIN - Sound winner of an identical race at Chantilly one month ago. Upped six pounds but a player all the same

5. BABAR - Third in a Quinte race over one mile two starts back. Flopped last time out. Unknown quantity over this distance

6. AMHURST - Finished fourth off that same mark in last two starts in this division and may have to settle for place once again

7. TENNESSEE SONG - Won both his starts this year in handicaps and as a result has gone up 14 pounds. May not have much room for maneuver at present

8. MONTGAROULT - Has failed to make an impact in all four starts in Quinte races. Not disgraced in last outing at Dax though and can pick up some money

9. EAGLEWINGS - Ran a better race than last placing suggests at Longchamp. First time this distance and commands respect

10. AZTEC WARRIOR - German raider who ran convincingly first time in a French handicap when third to (4) BROKEBACK MOUNTAIN at Chantilly. Player

11. DANCE THE BLUES - Well beaten on both his starts at this level so far. Down in the weight though and can be given some consideration

12. INVESTOR - Has been thereabouts in his last two starts in this division. Still unexposed and looks a plausible candidate

13. BREATH OF FIRE - Got back on song with an easy victory in a Saint-Cloud claimer last time out. First run for new connection. Can surprise

14. TAEKWONDO - Posted a solid effort in an identical race two starts back and in similar form would have a winning chance. Poor last run though but hard to rule out

15. ZILLIONE SUN - Just the one win from twenty but went close in last two and is overdue a second career victory

16. RUMBO NORTE - Good last two runs in this class of event and should be thereabouts once again

Summary

The lightly-raced (10) AZTEC WARRIOR posted a rather convincing effort when third in an identical contest won by (4) BROKEBACK MOUNTAIN while he was running for the first time in a handicap. Assuming that the trips from Germany under serious heat conditions have not taken the edge off him, he looks a serious prospect. (15) ZILLIONE SUN has been knocking hard in her recent starts and must be hugely respected. (14) TAEKWONDO is the one to beat if he is anywhere near the form he showed on his penultimate start.

4. SPIRET - Posted a fair first start effort when finishing fourth of nine at La Teste at the beginning of the month. Likely improver

5. JITINGA - Has finished on the podium in both her starts so far and should be right up there once again

6. BEST EVENING - Two creditable efforts so far but will have to find plenty more to go off the mark

7. SECRET TIME - Newcomer by Camacho out of a maiden winner in Ireland. Local betting will guide

8. VINGAR - Newcomer by Gleneagles out of a maiden mare whose only previous foal is a maiden after four runs

9. GENA - First foal to run of a three time winning mare. Is by Siyouni and should be monitored in the betting

Summary

There was not much between (3) VOLYNKA and (5) JITINGA last time at Chantilly and these two are likely to be closely involved at the finish once again. The collateral form brings the fast-improving (1) ALOCASIA on the map as she was a close second to Mystic Monarch at Dieppe three weeks ago. It is probably best to see where the newcomer (9) GENA stands in the local betting.

5. SAKURA ZENSEN - On a hattrick. Won a competitive handicap last time out but faces a totally different task today

6. VILLA D'AMORE - One win from four and was no match for winner Etoiles when runner-up in the Group III Prix Cleopatre last time out

7. MERIMBULA - Never in a position to challenge for better when fifth of eleven in G.I Prix Saint-Alary last time out. Place chance

Summary

An easy winner of the Cheshire Oaks before finishing a respectable seventh in the Epsom Oaks, (4) MEHDAAYIH looks a rock solid candidate in this contest and could get trainer John Gosden off to an excellent day. There is probably not much between (6) VILLA D'AMORE and (1) EDISA who are the most likely dangers from the local contingent.

3. THUNDERING BLUE - Made the frame twice in Group I races last year. Was far from disgraced in a Sandown Listed last time out and can get a look in

4. ZIYAD - Has never run in a Group I so far but was a game second to (1) ASPETAR in the G.II Grand Prix de Chantilly last time out. Can spring a surprise

5. CORONET - A close second in this race last year. Flopped on seasonal bow at Newmarket but should be in good shape today

6. MORGAN LE FAYE - Has not stopped improving this year and looks all set for a first Group I victory

7. LAH TI DAR - Has made the frame on both her starts in Group I last year. Disappointing last run at Epsom and is in for redemption today

Summary

(6) MORGAN LE FAYE is likely to garner most of the support in this race as she has been impressive this season but the Godolphin mare faces her first real G.I test this Sunday and may have to find some improvement to come on top of (5) CORONET who was narrowly denied in this contest last year by multiple Group I winner Waldgeist. (7) LAH TI DAR is obviously better than her last outing suggests and must be given some consideration.

3. SKAZINO - Comes in on the back of three consecutive victories in South-East France. Takes a big step up in grade

5. FLOP SHOT - Won his two seasonal starts and was particularly impressive in the Group III Prix de Guiche last time out. Big shout

6. MONTVIETTE - Won two last year and was runner-up in a Group III. Unplaced on both starts this term. Hard to make a case for

An impressive winner of the Group III Prix de Guiche in his last start, (5) FLOP SHOT seems to have a bright future ahead of him and looks the one to beat. (1) HEADMAN was a rather convincing winner of a competitive handicap last time at Newbury and is surely one to consider. It is hard to know where (2) JALMOUD stands at present following his poor last-start effort at Ascot but he surely is not one to underestimate.

4. SHILLY PORT - One time winner from seven and went well on both his starts in handicaps this term. Enters the equation

5. SPEED - Best to forget last run. Previous efforts in handicaps are good enough to see him feature prominently

6. LUMINOSA - Broke maiden tag on second attempt last summer. Unplaced in four runs in handicaps since then

7. CLASSIC PEARL - Beaten a head when second to Tenessee Song on handicap debut at Chantilly last time out. Can go one better

8. PREMIO - Effective in the handicap division in the provinces and is not one to be underrated

9. KARSADOR - Is now two pounds better off than when winning a handicap last summer. Modest recent form though and has a bit to find

10. WANGANELLA - Placed once in four starts so far. First time in a handicap. Others make more appeal

Summary

(7) CLASSIC PEARL is still unexposed and the way she ran last time out at Chantilly suggests she has more than one race like this in her. She will take a power of beating and gets a confident vote to record a second career victory. The on-form (1) LAWANDA looks another serious player. (3) VESPERA is on a career-low mark and with PC Boudot on board could be a big danger too.

2. FIRST OAKS - Appears to have come good following a tough start to his career. Breaks in front and while unlikely to achieve the hat trick can still figure prominently

3. FLAMENCO DES GIRES - Not easy to handle but showed his form two weeks ago. Is first time barefoot and can make his presence felt

4. FALCO D'ARGENVIERE - Good class of trotter that needed his latest run. Should be fit by now and will not be far from the action

5. FLASH DE JOUDES - Got back in the game with a Class F success three weeks ago. Races barefoot again but has a mountain to climb this time

6. FLOKI ROYAL - Sanctioned more often than not but returned to winning ways a fortnight ago. Pitted against superior horses here but will have his supporters

7. FABIO FOOT - Blows hot and cold but reassured at Strasbourg mid month. Up against better this time though and chances limited

8. FRISSON DE BRUME - Consistently gives his best when focused. Pleased on only start here but others still preferred

9. FLAMENCO DU FER - Still a maiden from 16 but has acquitted himself decently of late. Well in on the front row but still no more than a minor place chance

10. FAKIR DE GORRON - Useful type but has better references at a lower level and with an extra 25m to travel will have his work cut out

11. FREDDY BOY - Complicated but got back in the winners enclosure at Vichy ten days ago. On the second line this time but will still not be sent out at such a generous price on this occasion

12. FILLMORE - Already a winner here. Showed his form at Borely recently and even though in better company can still make a big impact

13. FIRSTY - Can prove a handful but has never disappointed when barefoot and can set the cat among the pigeons

14. FERRERO DU LOISIR - Fine servant with an enviable strike rate. Imposed with ease at Vichy last time and will take all the beating

15. FANGIO DES IRIS - Not without merit but has struggled this term and must show improvement

16. FRIPON DU JOUR - Occasionally indisciplined but has bags of ability. Can play a prominent role if he maintains stride

Summary

Defeated just once in five career starts (14) FERRERO DU LOISIR put in a superb time at Vichy earlier in the month and looks very hard to beat. (16) FRIPON DU JOUR goes unshod behind after faulting at Vichy and with stride in check can apply the pressure. Winner of his only start at the venue (12) FILLMORE returns on the back of a solid Borely victory and can again go close. (2) FIRST OAKS appears to have put his stride woes behind him and even though stepping up in class can give this a good go from the first line. (4) FALCO D'ARGENVIERE will have come on for last month's re-entry and is expected to be more competitive this time around.

4. CONDOR THE BEST - Unexceptional trotter that was well beaten in last three and needs to reaffirm

5. BALATA - Showed marked improvement at Feurs last weekend but has placed just once in seven here and others preferred

6. BOLIDE HIGHLAND - Hardy sort that has been going well of late. Imposed here two months ago and will justifiably garner support

7. CAIMAN DU CITRUS - Has done nothing noteworthy for some time and his dislike for the venue is plain to see

8. BAZORRO JUPILLES - Useful in both codes but has never delivered here and after just one race back has no realistic chance

9. BORDERLINE - Serious campaigner in the amateur division. Has placed just once here but in present form is hard to ignore

10. CAESAR FACE - Quality element that won his only race here. Boasts a fine record at this level and can impose

11. ADORABLE HISTOIRE - Seldom far off the mark when focused and unshod but has done nothing of note here for some time and can be ruled out

12. DUC DU VIVIER - Useful type dropping back in class following some modest efforts in the professional ranks. Has references here and must be respected

Summary

An absolute metronome in the amateur division (10) CAESAR FACE imposed on his only start at the venue and can win this. Winner of both this term (2) BONBON BLEU is particularly productive when fresh and looks a serious proposition following the spell. (9) BORDERLINE is like a horse reborn this term and while arguably better racing clockwise can still go far. (3) CARLA DE FLOSAILLE returns to a category she appreciates and has already imposed twice at the venue.

5. CALINE DE MAI CAPO - Imposed under harness here earlier in the season. Is proven under the saddle but others still preferred

6. EXTRA BALL - Fine servant under the saddle and loves Saint Galmier. Currently at her best and from the front line can have her way

7. CIAMS DU SABLIER - Delicate but won two of last three. Is proven here but with shoes on no more than a minor place chance

8. EMMY JOYEUSE - Occasionally indisciplined but otherwise regularly in the thick of things. Has no references here but with application should not be far off the mark

9. CAID DE CHANLECY - Seldom wins these days but can trot. Pleased at Vichy last time but on the second line here and no threat

10. COME ON DU VALLON - Useful sort that pleased behind (2) CALIN DU CHASTANG mid month. In better company this time though and chances limited

11. CABOTIN DU BOCAGE - In the frame in four of five this year. Returns from a spell but is confirmed here and can finish in the mix

12. DEESSE DE FOOT - Presently enjoying a fruitful run of form. Takes a big dip in class and even though on the second line still looks a decent place chance

13. COCKTAIL DYNAMITE - Very hard to fault under the saddle this season. Has a fine entry and with shoes off for the occasion can go close

Summary

Simply superb in this branch of the business (6) EXTRA BALL has never failed to produce the goods here and breaking in front looks the horse to beat. Fournigault will still want to keep a watchful eye on (13) COCKTAIL DYNAMITE who returns to his discipline of preference. (12) DEESSE DE FOOT has hardly set a foot wrong for the past three months and debuts at the venue with a good hand to play. (11) CABOTIN DU BOCAGE has not ben seen out since trotting second here two months ago but can still give this a good go.

5. FRONDEUSE DES DUCS - Not the best horse here but can trot when applied. Stays shod and unlikely to spring any surprises

6. FIONA MESLOISE - Unremarkable filly that has never delivered at this level and can be confidently passed over

7. FILLE DE DOMPIERRE - Still chasing that elusive first win but reassured at Feurs last weekend and could well make the frame this time

8. FOLLOW DARLING - Disappointing in last three but has considerable ability. Likes Saint Galmier and after a decent breather returns to the venue with a good hand to play

9. FAVORITA TURGOT - Useful sort that has yet to lose her maiden tag but has good references here. Ideally positioned on the front line and can finally get off the mark

10. FALTEA DU RIED - 22 races and still a maiden. Has shown little liking for the venue and others preferred

11. FERIKA DAIRPET - Has made good progress this month. Backs up after a solid Vichy performance four days ago and will not be far off the mark

12. FRIMOUSSE DE NUIT - Filly with decent ability but has disappointed in last three and must reaffirm

13. FIANARANTSOA - Erratic but not without merit. Failed to fire on only start here but caught the eye at Avignon last week and will have her supporters

Y-A.Briand could not have hoped for a better entry for his complicated filly (9) FAVORITA TURGOT. Well in on the front line she has already proven herself at the venue and in this company should have the measure of most. That being said, (8) FOLLOW DARLING returns to her track of preference and will have a lot to offer. (7) FILLE DE DOMPIERRE has yet to get off the mark but did enough at Feurs recently to be considered a decent place chance. (11) FERIKA DAIRPET

incurs the penalty but left a very good impression at Vichy last Wednesday and must be afforded respect.

7. FANTOMAS TURGOT - Got the year off to an excellent start but has since lost his way and must reaffirm

8. FORMI - Excellent servant but unseen since February and with shoes on is unlikely to spring any surprises

9. FACETIEUX - Has struggled with stride issues since his productive winter. On the second line but if behaved can make a big splash

Summary

Unlucky to be denied a run at Marseille last time when clearly on the bit (5) FANTOME D'AM makes his debut at a track which should suit him well and can set the record straight. Sanctioned at Vichy last time (4) FIACRE DU CHENE is nonetheless clearly in form and will have his chances if he gets off on the right foot. (2) FERNEY VOLTAIRE consistently gives his best and with shoes off for the occasion can finish close. (6) FALCON D'ESPACE has been acquitting himself well lately and will justifiably garner support.

10. CERISE D'ASNOIS - Hardy sort that gave a good account at Angouleme last time out. Ideally positioned in front here and looks a respectable place prospect

11. BALOU D'ANGIS - Got back in the game in a Vichy claimer recently but returns to a track where he has never delivered and can be ruled out

12. VRAI DE CLERLANDE - Has failed to make the first three for 14 months and is not about to shake things up

13. BLACKBIRD WOOD - Good quality trotter that was very unlucky last time out. Is clearly in form and with a better trip can wrap this up

14. BANJO DE PERTHUIS - In the frame in two of last three. Failed to fire last time though and the handicap does him no favours

15. AMI DE CLERLANDE - Handy sort that drops back in class following a decent effort in much better company and can challenge for the win this time

In excellent form over recent months (13) BLACKBIRD WOOD was denied a run at Avignon last weekend and with more luck in running should be able to win this. Winner late last month (15) AMI DE CLERLANDE drops back in category

following a respectable effort in a Class A and looks the principal threat. (2) CHARLESTON PIYA showed his form at Borely earlier in the month and a similar effort would guarantee him a spot in the frame. (10) CERISE D'ASNOIS is well entered in front and will not be far from the action.

3. DACOLIN - Just once out of the first five in last six. Pleased on only appearance here and can get a look in

4. DUC DE VILLETOT - Modest type with better references in lesser company and unlikely to spring any surprises

5. DREAM DES OLIVIERS - Blows hot and cold but encouraged behind (12) D'AMOUR DE MAGNY at Parilly last time and should not be far off the mark

6. DARY GEDE - Has ample ability but yet to make the grade this term and must raise his game

7. DOMINO DU JOUR - Never far from losing his action but in the frame in three of four here. Moves back up in class but one to note

8. DANDY DE MELODIE - Not the most productive horse in the field. Failed to confirm his penultimate effort and will have few takers

9. DOMINANT ROMANEE - Gives a good account for the most part when unshod. Moves up in category following two decent efforts in the provinces but still an outsider

10. DESERT STYLE - Unremarkable trotter making first appearance since October 2017 and is sure to need the outing

11. DAGUET DU VERNE - Moderate type that has never delivered here and is not about to break the mould

12. D'AMOUR DE MAGNY - Can prove a handful but otherwise very productive. Impressive of late and from the front line looks dangerous

13. DREAM ATOUT - A complete write off since November 2017 and can be easily passed over

14. DAVIDOFF DU KLAU - Imposed at Lyon earlier in the season but has failed to confirm four times since and no threat

15. DIEGO DU BOUFFEY - Very impressive last season but out of the picture in all three this term and no realistic chance

16. DISCO DES TAUREAUX - At the top of his game this year. Comes to Saint Galmier fresh and although unproven here can still play a prominent role

17. DESOTO - Good consistent trotter with form in superior company. Left a good

impression at Montauban last time and will have his chances

18. DIAMANT DE BOLAN - Tough trotter that did not race to his mark at Vichy but is clearly in form and if focused can make his Saint Galmier debut a winning one

Summary

Unlucky at Vichy earlier in the month, the useful dual-discipline (18) DIAMANT DE BOLAN has a good entry here and looks a serious prospect on his debut at the venue. Briand will nevertheless want to keep a watchful eye on the in-form (17) DESOTO who has nothing to prove at this level. Solid in his last two (12) D'AMOUR DE MAGNY benefits from a 25m head-start and can defy his Saint-Galmier record. (16) DISCO DES TAUREAUX has not been seen for two months but went into his spell on a high note and with shoes off for the occasion will be no pushover.
