What a busy time the last couple weeks have been. Back home again, the Interna-tional Convention is over. If you did not make it you missed a great week in New Or-leans. I spent two days in the Moose Legion Secretary’s school. The class was taught by a Past Moose Legion President Bruce Snider, there was a lot to learn from a great teacher. I was able to get a lot of great ideas. I am hoping to be able to use some in the upcoming year.

When the convention started again, we listening to the different thoughts passed among us of what Moose International expects to happen in the coming years. Many motivating speeches were given to the some 6,000 Moose members in attendance. What a great show. I am glad to have represented Sailfish Moose Legion 197 at this convention. New Orleans was a great town, great food, great people but not so great casino. LOL. There was a lot of talk about the upcoming Moose Legion Conference coming up in Oklahoma City in November. If there is any chance that you could make it to this event I wish you would. I think the Moose Legion is going to try to make this a great couple days. There will be ritual competition for the Moose Legion. Unfortu-nately our team is not ready at this time to compete. But let’s hope that we will get back to the height that Sailfish Moose Legion has reached in the past. They are sup-posed to have only a few meetings and then with a couple days of activities, trying to bring back (FUN) to the Moose Legion.

Let’s get back to making our celebrations even bigger and better than they have been, let’s get back to telling other prospective Moose Legionnaires the story of the Moose Legion. One way to hear this is to come to a Conferral and that will be at Fort Pierce in September. We hope to see a lot of new prospective candidates and some of you long time members come participate and support your Moose Legion as well as the Fort Pierce Lodge. There is so much to do in support of Mooseheart and Moosehaven. And the way we do this is by coming to the celebrations donating our time and our support to Sailfish Moose Legion 197. Remember that’s what we do. We are the ones who make the engine run. We are the ones that step up and do what has to be done, we need to step up even more now than ever before by getting more qualified members and supporting all of our lodges.

Looking forward to seeing you in Fort Pierce… Fraternally, Lee Singleton

International Moose Legion President Ronald Maley’s Project This years President’s Project will benefit both Mooseheart and Moose-haven. He has committed to fund a new projector for the PJO Building at Mooseheart and some much needed commercial washers and dryers at Moosehaven. This program has no minimum contribution levels, however the total goal amount for the project is $42,000.

Together with the fundraising goals for our Moose Legion, we will as Moose legionnaires, make a difference in our kids lives and our Seniors. Our other efforts will center around the Endowment Fund, Youth Awareness Scholarships, the Mooseheart Student Trips to Moosehaven, and our final year of fundraising for the almost complete Centennial Building at Moose-haven. Get active in your Lodge Moose Legion Committees to support these efforts. Do some good thing for someone each day!
