Taking it upon herself to communicate the val-ues of Shrimad Bhagvad Gita to the younger generation, Dr. Mundhra not only took it upon herself to get Shri Hari Gita, that was in Hindi, translated in English by Smt. Annada Rathi and Shri Dinesh Rathi, but went on to create a musi-cal rendition of the same by the name of “Shri Hari Vani Gita”. And why not! for, Dr Mundhra, a Sangeet Visharad from Gandharva Mahavidya-laya, has sung many Krishna bhajans over the last decade.

Gita album at ISKCON, Juhu. Besides Vijay Mundhra, Varun Mundhra, Vidisha Mundhra, Deenanath Bhargava, celebrities of the likes of Dalip Tahil, Vishwajeet Pradhan, Sonalika Prad-han, Prashantt Guptha, Mudasir Ali, Tina Ghai were part of the event.

It was no easy task, admits Dr Mundhra. In fact, it took her a year to complete the “Shri Hari Vani Gita” composition and rendition that has all the 18adhyayas with each adhyaya having differ-ent music according to the teachings of that adhyaya. After compositions it took her over three months to complete the recording of the same, with crisp pronunciations and a guiding book. The music composer of Shri Hari Vani Gita, working under her able guidance, is her son Varun Mundhra.

Adds Dr Mundhra, “it was a difficult, yet very

spiritually-enriching experience for me. There were many tough days and there were many successful days but with each passing day the teachings of Bhagvad Gita got more imbibed in me. 10th Anniversary of Cartier International Dubai Polo Challenge 2015

Under the patronage and in the presence of HRH Princess Haya Bint Al Hussein, Wife of HH Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, the Cartier International Dubai Polo Challenge

was held at Desert Palm Resort & Polo Club on Saturday 21st Febru-ary 2015. One of the most prestigious happenings on Dubai’s sporting and social calendar, the event was attended by Royals, celebrities, so-cialites, and of course some of the most recognised polo players in the world. The Cartier International Dubai Polo Challenge was first held in March 2006. This year, for the first time, six teams battled it out for the coveted Trophy in what has become regarded as the most celebrated tournament of the year.

In a thrilling final, the Desert Palm team featuring Rashid Albwardy and Alan Meeker took the win, defeating the UAE Polo Team patroned by HH Sheikha Maitha Bint Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum 10-4. Un-fortunately, the morning’s sandstorm had forced the cancellation of the subsidiary Desert Palm Trophy on pony welfare grounds and so Cartier Red and Abu Dhabi agreed to tie for third place.

Among attendees at the event were HRH Prince Abbas bin Ali bin Nayef of Jordan accompanied by his wife, HRH Princess Sima Al Abbas and HRH Princess Yasmine Bint Asem bin Nayef, Marques of Blandford George Spencer-Churchill, Ambassador of La Martina, American social-ite Olivia Palermo and Lebanese singer Ragheb Alama.

Following the game, guests continued to enjoy a wonderful atmosphere and admire the elegant setting of the event, delighting in Cartier’s ex-

quisite hospitality. Spectators enjoyed a sumptuous afternoon tea at this social gathering of the season. Throughout the afternoon they were wel-comed at the Cartier Villa that was transformed beautifully to premiere the new Clé de Cartier watch creations. This outstanding collection was presented for the first time following its global launch at the Salon Inter-national de la Haute Horlogerie in January, and will be available in all boutiques worldwide starting April 2015.

Quaidi No 210, producer Ranjeet Sharma’s film that takes its inspiration from the Salman Khan chinkara case, was launched today with the Muhu-rat and shoot at Filmistan in the jail sets. 210 was the number allocated to Salman Khan when he was lodged in the Jodhpur prison.

The film will be directed by editor turned director Prakash Jha, and stars newcomer Usmaan Khan in the lead role. The film also has the same cell-mate of Salman, Mahesh Saini. Inter-estingly, the same Jodhpur jail and the same cell as well as the same gypsy and driver Harish Dhulani used by Salman are part of the film as well. Raj Jhangid essays the role of a jailor in the film.

Says producer Ranjeet Sharma, “We are looking at authentic locations, au-thentic people to be part of the film that will be shot in Mumbai and Jodh-pur. Our research and coordination is through Jodhpur resident Sharvan Singh Chouhan. “ Ranjeet Sharma avers that neither Salman nor anyone else will have objection to the film as it is not intended to hurt anyone’s senti-ments. “I have always had this strange fascination for Salman Khan. He is simple, unassuming and does things from his heart. The film touches upon

a part of his life that only a few were privy to. And those who were part of Salman’s life during this period are part of our film.” To ensure Salman’s feelings are not hurt, there is a tag line above the film name – “Bhai shaitan nahi bhagwan hai”.

Says Usmaan Khan, “this is a great opportunity but it brings with it a lot of responsibility. To me, this is like actor who was walking with a map of Bol-lywood and suddenly finds himself as the owner of a huge treasure.”

“I am not a film buff but I was touched by Salman’s simplicity,” says Mahesh Saini, adding that he is very happy to be able to turns actor due to Salman Khan!

The makers have not sought Salman’s permission for the film as they feel ev-ery film draws its inspiration from re-ality and so does this one. “The film begins with Mumbai and ends in Jodh-pur. Sometimes, being human is a crime if you are celebrity. Anything you do touches headlines. We are touch-ing upon that Salman who believes in being human,” says director Prakash Jha. The ending also is open-ended and will take direction from the way Salman’s case progresses.
