PASTOR’S PERSPECTIVE Dear Parishioners:

The Little Red Riding Hood is the story of a little girl sent by her mother to bring some food to her sick grandmother in another village. On the way, she meets a big bad wolf and naively tells the wolf where she’s going. The wolf suggests that the little girl picks some flowers for her grandmother. As she wanders in the forest picking flowers, the wolf goes to her grandmother’s house and swallows the grandmother. Then it puts on the grand-mother’s clothes and lies in bed waiting. When the unsuspecting little girl arrives, she is also swallowed by the big bad wolf.

There seems to be a version of this story in every language of the world, because the moral of the story is applicable to every culture. In every society, there are always some “bad wolves” who take advantage of innocent people. Jesus himself warns us of the “wolves in sheep’s clothing” (Matthew 7:15).

In our diocese, the Chancery often sends out alerts about priests of questionable repute. Recently we received warnings about four individuals. One of them – a “Fr. Jose Chamorro” – is probably not even a priest at all. The other three are all under suspension and are not allowed to serve in any priestly capacity.

This is why before inviting someone to pray or preach at any event, parish groups and ministries must make sure that the person is in good standing with the Church. Every lay person, regardless of where they are from, and every priest or religious from outside our diocese, must present a Letter of Good Standing before their name can be advertised for any event. It is better for us to be safe than sorry.

KNIGHTS OF COLUMBUS

The Knights of Columbus is the world’s largest Catholic fraternal service organization. Founded by Father Michael J. McGivney in 1882 originally to help low-income immigrant Catholics, it has developed into a fraternal society dedicated to providing charitable services, promoting Catholic education, and actively defending the Church in various countries. Presently, there are 1.9 million Knights in more than 15,000 councils around the world.

SENIOR HOUSING OPPORTUNITY

LA PERSPECTIVA DEL PÁRROCO Queridos feligreses: La historia de la Caperucita Roja se trata de una niña enviada por su madre a llevar algo de comida a su abuela enferma en otro pueblo. En el camino, se encuentra con un lobo feroz e ingenuamente le dice al lobo dónde va. El lobo le sugiere a la niña recoger algunas flores para su abuela. Mientras la niña pasea por el bosque recogiendo flores, el lobo va a casa de su abuela y se traga a la abuela. Luego se pone la ropa de la abuela y se acuesta en la cama esperando. Cuando la niña llega desprevenida, a ella también es la traga el lobo feroz. Parece que hay una versión de esta historia en todos los idiomas del mundo, debido a que la moraleja de la historia es aplicable a todas las culturas. En todas las sociedades, siempre hay algunos "lobos malos" que se aprovechan de las personas inocentes. 《小红帽》的故事所讲的是

大灰狼，并天真地告诉了大灰狼

她要到哪里去。大灰狼建议小女孩给她的奶奶摘

一些花儿。当她在森林里摘取花朵的时候，大灰狼

赶到她奶奶的房子，吃掉了奶奶，然后穿上奶奶的

衣服，躺在床上等着小女孩儿。当这个小女孩儿来

到的时候，也就没有防备地被大灰狼吃掉了。

这个故事几乎被翻译成每一种语言，因为它的

寓意适用于每一种文化。在每一个社会中，总是有

一些“坏的大灰狼”利用善良的人们。耶稣也亲自

警告我们要警惕那些“披着羊皮的狼”(玛窦福音

7:15)。

我们教区的秘书处也经常让我们警惕一些名

声有问题的神父们。最近我们收到提醒，要警惕四

个人。其中之一，称为“Jose Chamorro 神父”的

人，也许都不是一位神父。另外三个人则已被停

职，不允许行使神父职权。

因此，堂区各个团体和组织在邀请任何人在堂

区活动中祈祷或讲道之前，必须确定被邀请人在

教会中有好的声望。凡是来自教区以外的神父或

修士、修女，以及所有被邀请讲道的平信徒——无

论来自哪里，在他们的名字被宣传之前，必须提供

一份良好声誉证明信。事先预防总比事后遗憾来

哥伦布骑士团 哥伦布骑士团是世界上最大的天主教志愿者
