PRAY FOR OUR SICK—OREMOS POR LOS ENFERMOS
Parishioners and friends of Saint Ambrose receive an affectionate greeting,
I would like to start this column by expressing my appreciation for all your welcome messages and gestures. It gave me great joy to greet - even from a distance - the participants of the Holy Mass in these first days in the parish. Thank you all very much and I hope that little by little I can see your faces, today covered with a mask by this pandemic.
Some people have approached me and asked me to indicate how we are going to work from now on in each of the different ministries. The question, I suppose, is given because each priest has his own tastes or whims, or perhaps because each of us has a different style of work. For those who have asked me, I must answer that whoever leads this community has not changed, remains the same: Christ Jesus, who, through the intercession of Saint Ambrose, our lady and all the saints, guides, cares and protects us.
For now, in the midst of so many difficulties and situations we face, it does not seem prudent to me to make any change in the way or style in which we have been working "be it tactical, simple or drastic." It is the same Spirit that shows the priests what to do, and for now I can only tell you that I ask the Lord to guide and orient me every day.
Thus, we will continue to have Masses at the established times, we will have the school and plans for this new school year and we continue with the project of the rectory hoping that with your prayers and help we will soon have permission from the authorities to use it.
I understand that some people and community groups would like to resume meetings, assemblies, prayer groups, practices, talks and others. But I ask you to be patient with me. We already wait a lot, I hope that now we only have to wait a little longer.
Let us remember that Jesus, the Sower of the Good Seed, said: “Let them grow together until the time of the harvest and, when the harvest arrives, I will say to the reapers: Tear up the tares first and tie them in sheaves to burn them; then store the wheat in my barn. ”

Parroquianos y amigos de San Ambrosio reciban un afectuoso saludo,
Quisiera empezar esta columna expresándoles mi agradecimiento por todos sus mensajes y gestos de bienvenida. Me dio mucha alegría saludar – aunque fuera desde la distancia – a los participantes de la Santa Misa en estos mis primeros días en la parroquia. Muchas gracias a todos y espero que poco a poco pueda ver sus caras, hoy cubiertas con un tapabocas por esta pandemia.
Algunas personas se han acercado y me han pedido que les indique como vamos a trabajar de aquí en adelante en cada uno de los diferentes ministerios. La pregunta, supongo yo, esta dada porque cada sacerdote tiene sus propios gustos o caprichos, o quizás porque cada uno de nosotros tenemos un estilo de trabajo diferente. Para quienes me han preguntado debo responder que quien lidera a esta comunidad no ha cambiado, sigue siendo el mismo: Cristo Jesús, quien, por la intercesión de San Ambrosio, nuestra señora y todos los santos, nos guía, cuida y protege.
Por ahora, en medio de tantas dificultades y situaciones que enfrentamos, no me parece prudente hacer ningún cambio en la forma o estilo en que se viene trabajando “sea táctico, simple o drástico.” Es el mismo Espíritu el que nos muestra a los sacerdotes que hacer, y por ahora yo solo puedo decirles que le pido al Señor para que El me guie y oriente cada día.
Así las cosas, seguiremos teniendo Misas en los horarios establecidos, tendremos la escuela y los planes para este nuevo año escolar y seguimos con el proyecto de la rectoría esperando que con sus oraciones y ayuda pronto podamos tener permiso de las autoridades para utilizarla.
Yo entiendo que algunas personas y grupos comunales, desearían reanudar reuniones, asambleas, grupos de oración, practicas, charlas y demás. Pero les pido que me tengan paciencia. Ya esperamos mucho, yo espero que ahora solo tengamos que esperar un poco más.
Recordemos que Jesús, El Sembrador de la Buena Semilla, dijo: “Dejen que crezcan juntos hasta el tiempo de la cosecha y, cuando llegue la cosecha, diré a los segadores: Arranquen primero la cizaña y atenla en gavillas para quemarlas; luego almacenen el trigo en mi granero.”

Catholic Charities DC is helping DC and Maryland residents apply for food stamps.
As families continue to experience the financial hardships due to Covid-19; the budget for groceries becomes smaller and smaller. But there may be programs that can help. One of these programs is known as SNAP (Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program), formerly known as food stamps, helps low-income households buy the food they need for good health. Once a family is approved to receive this benefit, the benefit card may be used at all participating grocery stores in their area. As a response to Covid-19, SNAP benefits can also be used online now! You will be able to shop online at Amazon and Walmart (delivery fees may still apply). Eligibility is based on household size, household income, and household expenses. Applications are submitted
online and processed within a 30 day period.
An experienced Catholic Charities team member can help. Clients may call our automated hotline at 301-453-5560 and someone will return the call within 24 hours!

Second Reading: Romans 8:26-27
Paul indicates that since people are, in general, unaccustomed to the manner of praying, of speaking directly to God, the Holy Spirit will intercede for them.
Gospel: Ma hew 13:24-43
According to Ma hew, Jesus speaks of the “reign of God” in three parables: the man who soweth good seed, the mustard seed, and the yeast. In each parable, Jesus demonstrates that once the “reign of God” had been established, it grew and spread.

The impact of the coronavirus on local families continues to grow, and it is severe. While our St. Vincent dePaul Society (SVDP) has thus far been able to assist over 50 families with rent and utilities, and some 1,300 with food, joblessness has the need for critical rent and utility assitance growing much faster than we've ever seen. PLEASE HELP ALL YOU CAN. Food supplies are always helpful, like maseca, sugar, salt, toilet paper, pasta and spaghetti. spaghetti sauce, peanut butter, jelly, cereal, dry beans and rice, cooking oil. (We have sufficient canned goods right now.) But monetary assistance is the critical element. Checks may be mailed to St. Ambrose Church or directly to SVDP at 4921 55th Place, Hyattsville, MD 20781. My Jesus, I believe that You are present in the Most Holy Sacrament. I love You above all things, and I desire to receive You into my soul.
