This year the recipients for the Giving Tree will be
Life Choices Women’s Clinics.
The Giving Tree, located at the narthex of the church, is
decorated with ornaments that have items the women’s
center is in need of.
We ask that you take an ornament(s) and purchase that item by
December 20th. Place the unwrapped item under the tree with
the ornament attached.
Thank you for your generosity!
Celebrate Life
As we continue to prepare our hearts for the coming of the
Christ-child at Christmas let us live in his love in all we do,
especially in our marriage relationship. Apply today to at-
tend one of the upcoming Worldwide Marriage Encounter
Weekends in 2016. The next weekend will be in Phoenix
on February 19-21. For all other dates and more infor-
mation visit www.wwmearizona.com
Endow is a Catholic educational program that brings
women together to discover their God-given dignity and to
understand their role in humanizing and transforming
society. Endow helps women from all walks of life discover
their God-given dignity and femininity through the richness
and authenticity of Catholic teaching. When we as women
grow in understanding the teachings of the Church and in
the truth of Jesus Christ, our faith becomes more fully
defined, and so does our transforming influence in the
family, the community, and society as a whole.
Endow utilizes small study groups to cultivate faith,
fellowship, and formation. If you’re looking to enrich your
life, or just want to join a quality women’s book club that
provides content-rich material, Endow is for you!
Endow study groups will meet on Saturday mornings, after
the 8am Mass, over an eight-to-ten week period. We will
not meet on the same Saturdays as Women’s Sodality, so
that women can attend both groups. No homework is
required.
To learn more about our first study group on Pope
John Paul II’s Letter to Women , starting on
January 9th, here at St. Daniel the Prophet Parish,
please call Rebecca Knoell at 602-717-3586.

Journey to Bethlehem
Please join us for our Journey/Tour of Bethlehem sponsored by Our Lady's Sodality. If you would like to par-
ticipate, please bring your Nativity Sets to the social hall after 3pm on Saturday, January 9, 2016. Viewing
will begin after the 4pm mass on Saturday and until noon on Sunday, January 10, 2016. You may pick up
your Nativity Sets by noon on Sunday, January 10th.
Nativity sets are an Advent tradition, hundreds of years old, used by churches and
families to better imagine, understand, and relate to the story of Jesus' birth.
St. Francis of Assisi created the Nativity scene, also known as the Creche, in
1223. Francis was a monk who lived in the town of Assisi in Italy. Francis was
known for living his life differently from most other people.
During the time of Advent in 1223, Francis set out to find a way to bring the Christ-
mas story to life for the people of Assisi. He felt that people weren't really paying
attention to Christmas and that many people had a hard time understanding the
Bible story. He decided to create a Nativity set to show people what the Christ-
mas story might have looked like. St. Francis used live people and animals and
some churches today still create live Nativity scenes. People all around the world
use
