Fr. Louis’s Letter

Dear brothers and sisters in Christ,

The Lenten theme on our parish

bracelet this year seems so

comforting and timely “Cast your

cares on the Lord and He will sustain

you” Psalm 55:22. As the

situation continues to unfold every

day, we find ourselves in constant

flux, with ever-changing news flashes,

stronger recommendations for safety

measures, and tighter restrictions on

social interaction being imposed in

an attempt to keep our community

healthy and to stop the spread of

coronavirus COVID-19. During these

uncertain times, I am overwhelmed

and deeply concerned for all of you

and your families. As we take

necessary precautions, I assure you

of my prayers as we journey through

these difficult times.

A s a n d w h e n w e r e c e i v e

communication from the diocese, we

will surely keep you informed of all

that the diocese wants us to

implement, especially about the

weekend Liturgies. On a daily basis I

am praying and wishing all of you

good health and safety. We all are

entering into some unknown

territories, and only God can lead us

to safety and peace. Let us do our

best and leave the rest to His care.

God says , “Be s t rong and

courageous. Do not be afraid or

terrified because of them, for

the Lord your God goes with you; he

will never leave you nor forsake you.”

Duet. 31:6. The God who we believe

in will surely take care of us and

guide us in this situation. Let us

entrust our lives, our fears, our

concerns to Jesus who is our refuge

and strength. Let us help and support

each other as we walk together

during this journey. Please know that

each of you is important to us as part

of our Parish community, and now is

the time to come together in prayer

and solidarity. Thank you for your

understanding as we try to do our

very best for our parish community

during these challenging times.

Again, please rest assured of our

prayers for you and your family, as we

depend on yours. May God bless you

and protect you!

In Jesus the Divine Healer,

Fr. Louis Golamari

At this time much of the world is staying home - we are working hard to reach out to you in as

many ways as possible. While we thank you for your generosity so far we ask you to prayerfully

consider your offertory to St. Jude. Our offertory makes it possible for us to be able to continue

the mission of Christ by serving the people of God. Our costs continue even during this tough

time. Please know that if you are not able to give of money we ask even more for your prayers.

Ways of contributing through offertory during this time:

Send a check to the office or drop in the mail slot outside the front door

Set up automated check withdrawal through your financial institution

It is of great importance that we have your email addresses to continue to keep you updated. If

we do not have one for you please reach out to us. Also, spread the word for others to like, and

follow, St. Jude on Facebook. All of the streaming live goes through Facebook and then is up-

knowing that their loved ones now rest with God.

Fifth Sunday of Lent page 5

Becoming our Best Selves One Step at a Time

Except for brief periods with fill-the-oil, check-the-gas

clunkers, we never had a car until I was in high school.

My Dad made sure the oil was full, but he almost never

changed it. In a discussion between my Dad and my

uncle, who used to own a car repair place in Ashland,

my uncle said, “Add a quart of clean oil to four quarts of

dirty oil, you wind up with five quarts of dirty oil.” He

was right, of course.

I was thinking about Lent the other day, and my uncle’s

statement came to mind. I think that’s true about us,

too. Hardly anybody’s moral oil is completely clean --

including mine. When we do something good, it’s sort of

like adding fresh oil to used oil -- it helps, but it’s not

ideal. Lent is a good time to change our moral oil by

trying hard to get rid of some kind of faulty action or

attitude.

Realistically, our oil then breaks down again a little at a

time as life happens. But we have the freedom to

change it as often as we want -- it doesn’t have to be

Lent.

Sisters and brothers,

as Jesus, in the days before his passion,

offered prayers and supplications with loud cries and tears,

let us pray for those who suffer, those who are in need,

and those who seek reconciliation.

God of compassion,

you know our faults and yet you promised to forgive.

Keep us in your presence and give us your wisdom.

Open our hearts to gladness,

call dry bones to dance,

and restore to us the joy of your salvation. Amen.
