Sunday, May 6th 11:00 a.m. Mass Children ages 4 to 2nd Grade During Mass, the children will be escorted to the Parish hall of the Church after the Opening Prayer. Here they will sing, hear the Sunday’s reading on their own level and share a reflection. They will be returned to their families during the Final Blessing of the Mass.

The Altar Flowers that will be offered at our Eucharistic Celebrations for this week are in memory of Mary Bellomo. This is a gift from Nick & MaryAnn Comparato.

In the Book of Acts, after St Paul’s conversion he was unable to join with the disciples because they were all afraid of him. He did, after all, consent to the stoning of St Stephen, the Protomartyr. Afterwards he went around dragging men, women and children from their homes and threw them in jail, or worse. In an extreme example, he must have had an anger management problem; or maybe he had to be in control: my way or the highway. But now he found Jesus, he turned to Jesus from the way of anger and control. He let it go; only Jesus controlled his life. The problem was that nobody would believe him; they were afraid. I was speaking to one of our parishioners last Sunday about how even though we have all sorts of modern inventions and advances, we can split the atom and go to the moon, etc., yet we cannot get along with each other. There is conflict everywhere we go in our mundane lives which, quoting Humphrey Bogart, “don’t amount to a hill of beans.” Just as St Barnabas, whose name means “son of encouragement,” went to Saul and brought him to the disciples and showed them how he had changed and started him on his missionary journeys which eventually brought the Good News from Jerusalem to Rome and in between, so we should strive to be peacemakers and encouragers bringing people to Christ by the example of our good lives, generosity and faithfulness. This week on May 3, the feast of our Patron, St James the Less, we will be honored to host Abbott Elias Lorenzo from St Mary’s Abbey in Morristown. He was asked by our Bishop to confer the sacrament of Confirmation on our candidates. It is a great event in the life of our parish when these youngsters will be confirmed in the Holy Spirit, receiving the graces to make them “soldiers of Christ”. To be more able to carry out those things which Christ asked us to do: to be “excellent” to one another.

A Message from Pastor Fr. Michael Fragoso

ATTENTION

Adoration will be cancelled for Thursday, May 3rd due to Confirmation. It will resume the following week.
