ARRANGING BAPTISM Baptism First (Spanish) and Last (English) Sundays each month. Call Parish Center to arrange. Before date is confirmed, parents must have/obtain:
• Registration in SJB Parish: Family from another parish must obtain written permission from “home” parish for Baptism at SJB. • Certificate of Eligibility to Serve as Sponsor: Each Catholic Sponsor (1 required; 2 preferred) must obtain Certificate of Eligibility from “home” parish. Parishes generally do not issue certificates to persons not already registered nor to persons who left the parish more than 6 months previously.
• Letter from Pastor for Christian Witness: One baptized non-Catholic may serve as a Christian Witness and must present Letter of Good Standing from current Christian pastor. A Catholic not eligible to Sponsor may not be Christian Witness.
ARRANGING MARRIAGE
Wedding Planning begins with engaged couple’s meeting a parish priest here at least six (6) months before desired wedding date. Please do not make financial commitments before confirming church date/time.
If a member of the couple was previously married, a Declaration of Nullity (Annulment) of the prior marriage may be necessary. Please contact parish priest for detailed information.
Marriage Convalidation Couples in a civil or non-Catholic religious union without our Church’s explicit permission are not in a valid Catholic marriage. They cannot receive other sacraments or serve as Catholic Sponsors for Baptism and Confirmation. This situation often is easily remedied by “convalidation”, a simple ceremony popularly called “getting a marriage blessed”. Call Parish Center to arrange.

Perception versus Reality
One day, the father of a very wealthy family took his son on a trip to the country with the express purpose of showing him how poor people live. They spent a couple of days and nights on the farm of what would be considered a very poor family. On their return from their trip, the father asked his son, ‘How was the trip?’ ‘It was great, Dad.’ ‘Did you see how poor people live,’ the father asked. ‘Oh yeah,’ said the son. ‘So, tell me, what did you learn from the trip,’ asked the father. The son answered: ‘I saw that we have one dog and they had four.’ ‘We have a pool that reaches to the middle of our garden and they have a creek that has no end.’ ‘We have imported lanterns in our garden and they have the stars at night.’ ‘Our patio reaches to the front yard and they have the whole horizon.’ ‘We have a small piece of land to live on and they have fields that go beyond our sight.’ ‘We have servants who serve us, but they serve others.’ ‘We buy our food, but they grow theirs.’ ‘We have walls around our property to protect us, they have friends to protect them.’ The boy’s father was speechless. Then his son added, ‘Thanks Dad for showing me how poor we are.’
Isn’t perspective a wonderful thing? Makes you wonder what would happen if we all gave thanks for everything we have, instead of worrying about what we do not have.

“The music tells the story – the story changes lives!”
THE CROSS AND THE LIGHT is coming to St. John Bosco. Thurs., 3/8:10 AM and 7PM,
Fri., 3/9:10 AM & 7 PM, and Sat., 3/10: 1 PM and 7PM! It’s not just a show; it is an intentional encounter event.
Religious inspiration comes in many forms. Kelly Garver Nieto’s hit her like a ton of Babylon bricks while she was
attending her first-ever Good Friday service in 2000. It was while praying the Stations of the Cross, which uses 14 sequential images to depict the crucifixion of Jesus,
that the former nonbeliever experienced what she calls a “life-changing vision.” “I looked at the altar and saw all
the details of this grand theatrical production,” the entertainer and former Miss Michigan remembers. “And I heard God say, ‘This is why you are here.’ I knew in
my soul that this would become my life’s mission.”

Looking for some Fall Reading? In God's Hands: The Spiritual Diaries of Pope John Paul II Available for the first time in English, the private reflections of the modern pope recently elevated to sainthood—deeply personal writings that reveal a spiritual leader who agonized over his service to God, continually questioning whether he was doing enough. As the head of the Roman Catholic Church for twenty-five years, from the final decades of the twentieth century to the first years of the new millennium, Pope John Paul II significantly impacted our world. As famous as a rock star, this powerful leader who conferred with numerous heads of state was the ultimate model of wisdom and religious commitment for numerous Catholics around the globe. Throughout much of his adult life, from 1962 until two years before his death in 2003, John Paul II kept a series of private diaries in which he disclosed his innermost thoughts, impressions, and concerns. Written in his native Polish and never before available in English until now, these journals provide intimate and deeply moving insight into a man, a priest, and a saint’s spirituality and a life devoted completely to God. In God’s Hands lays bare the soul of this powerful, influential statesman, revealing a devout man untouched by his celebrity status; a selfless servant of God who spent decades questioning whether he was worthy of the role he was called to carry out. Over forty years, from his bishopric in Krakow to his election to the papacy to his final years, one question guided him: "Am I serving God?" Entrusted to his personal secretary—who defied John Paul II’s instructions to burn them after his death—these notebooks provide us with a privileged glimpse into the life of a humble man who never took for granted his mission or his exalted role in the church and in the world.
The Priest Barracks: Dachau 1938 - 1945 At the Nazi concentration camp Dachau, three barracks out of thirty were occupied by clergy from 1938 to 1945. The overwhelming majority of the 2,720 men imprisoned in these barracks were Catholics—2,579 priests, monks, and seminarians from all over Europe. More than a third of the prisoners in the "priest block" died there. The story of these men, which has been submerged in the overall history of the concentration camps, is told in this riveting historical account. Both tragedies and magnificent gestures are chronicled here--from the terrifying forced march in 1942 to the heroic voluntary confinement of those dying of typhoid to the moving clandestine ordination of a young German deacon by a French bishop. Besides recounting moving episodes, the book sheds new light on Hitler's system of concentration camps and the intrinsic anti-Christian animus of Nazism. Think Right, Live Well: Daily Reflections with Archbishop Fulton J. Sheen "A character is made by the kind of thoughts a man thinks when alone." Archbishop Fulton Sheen.
Television made him famous. But his thoughts, while alone, in public, or before the Blessed Sacrament in Adoration, made him a man of God. Now in Think Right, Live Well, you'll be inspired by Archbishop Sheen's words, and a one-sentence prayer to make your own. In just a couple of minutes a day you'll begin to see how Sheen's central teaching -- that shaping our minds with the truth can mean a life lived well, pleasing to God - can make a difference in your own life. Starting today.

PARISH GIVING for ST. JOHN BOSCO PARISH
What is Parish Giving (Online Giving)?
An electronic Giving Program that enables parishes to collect "Sunday Offerings" and other donations online.
It normalizes offertory collections so they are not missed due to sickness, weather or vacations. It also eliminates administrative costs and time associated
with processing envelopes. Parish Giving is easy and convenient for Parishioners. Parishioners may choose to have offerings debited from a checking account or
credit card. They can choose how much and how often to give. They can also choose when and what offerings
they wish to donate to, such as: regular Sunday collections, special offertory donations, and holy
days. Parishioners can even choose the day of the month that works best for them to donate.
Finally, parishioners can generate a year end report for tax reporting purposes.
How do I sign up? 1. Go to St. John Bosco's website www.sjbhatboro.org and click on the Parish Giving icon on the home page. 2. Follow the directions to create a new account and enter your billing information. 3. Select the contribution timing, amounts and frequency that you would like to donate.
Thank you for your generosity to St. John Bosco parish!
