Spring Term: 12th April 2019

Dear Parents, Pupils, Staff and Parishioners, Another busy term has come to an end and the staff and children have worked exceptionally hard. This term we have been focusing on our Lenten journey and as a school we have raised over £1,036.40 for those who are less fortunate than ourselves. This money will go towards supporting Father Hudson’s Home and Dementia Care. Thank-you to all for supporting!

On Wednesday our Year 4 children led our whole school mass. It was a beautiful reflection on the events of Holy Week. The acting, reading and music were outstanding! Thank you children!

Football Match

We played a fantastic game this week against St Elizabeth’s and won 4-1. Well done to the team.

Netball Tournament:

On Wednesday the netball team took part in a tournament at The Excel Centre. 12 teams took part and we battled hard and managed to get to the finals. St. Anne's won a well fought game. Thank you to Miss Somers for your help. Well done to everyone.

Parent Consultation

Teachers will be inviting parents to a consultation on Wednesday and Thursday 1st and 2nd May – 3.30pm-6.00pm. You can book your appointment from today on Parentmail.

Library Visit: On Monday a group of children went to the Bell Green library. They enjoyed a story told by a member of staff and discussed other library facilities that are available to them in the future. Everyone had a fun time and borrowed an exciting book.

Autism Day

World Autism Day is internationally recognised and takes place on the 2nd April each year making April the month of Autism Awareness. We would like to raise awareness of Autism and fundraise at St John Fisher.

We will be holding a non-uniform day in exchange for a £1.00 donation on Tuesday 30th April 2019. The funds raised will be split in half. Half will be used to purchase resources for the children with autism at St John Fisher and the other half will go to Purple Planet which is based in Coventry and is a great place for children to have fun in a safe environment. The equipment is specially designed and therapies are offered free of charge as well as use of a sensory and therapeutic play room. We will also be completing activities in class, watching videos and encouraging discussion to recognise that we are all different and all equal.




YR 3 Cake Sale

Today the cake sale during school raised £116.33. Many Thanks for your generous donations.

Myton Hospice Charity

Claire McDowell from Myton Hospice was delighted to receive a donation of over £800 from the children and families of St John Fisher Primary School. The winners of the draw for Monty Bear were Ellie from Year 3 and Charlie from Year 2. Thank-you for your generosity.

Year 3 Transport Museum

On Wednesday, the year 3 children performed at the Transport Museum. Their captivating and incredible performance demonstrated their knowledge of the rainforest and its unfortunate demise. We are very proud of them. Well done year 3!




Prayer Partners Easter Egg Hunt

On Wednesday, Y6 worked with their Reception prayer partners to do an Easter egg hunt. First they had to work out where in the building the questions were by following clues, then when they found the question they had to answer a question about the Easter story. If the answer was right, they got an egg! The Y6 children were great role models to the younger children and showed a lovely sense of responsibility.

Swimming Pool Coming to SJF Children in KS1 and KS2 should have their swimming kits ready for Monday 29th April!




SJF Wraparound

What a busy term the Wraparound club have had! We got messy doing fingerprint bumble bees for our ‘bee amazing display’. We planted some secret seeds for our nature table that the children have been checking on every day. We have been creating our very own Easter bunny masks, complete with cute, pink twitchy noses.

The children made some very cute and colourful chicks and Easter eggs that they decided to display on our Spring board.

We finished the week off by making yummy, scrummy Easter cakes and tracking down the hidden

eggs on our Easter egg hunt!

Extra-Curricular Activities at St John Fisher

Summer Term 2019

All clubs run 3.15pm-4.30pm

£2.00 per session unless specified (£20 per term to be paid on booking)

All activities start w/b 6/5/19 for 10 weeks (last w/b 8/7/19) (Mondays 9 weeks as Bank Holiday 6/5/19 and Dance Group dates as specified on letter).

Enrolment -Thursday 2nd May 2019 at 5.00pm on Parentmail on a first come, first served basis.

To maintain a basic level of health, the NHS recommends that children and young people need to do 60 minutes of physical activity every day. The sports clubs on offer afterschool are a great way of achieving this. Even if your child has not taken part before, please consider enrolling them into a session.
