Dear Parishioners,
Last Sunday’s Parish Picnic at the school was a great success and I would like to thank all who participated in it or
helped out with it. It was a great time with lots of fun and food, and I already look forward to next year’s picnic!
Today begins National Vocation Awareness Week. If you know of someone who might be a good future priest or reli-
gious sister or brother, please let them know of your thoughts about their possible future calling and then pray for them.
The Lord’s vineyard is always in need of workers and the person you notice and speak to, may one day become a priest
or religious, simply because you took the time to speak to them or to pray for them. That’s what happened to me. We
also continue to pray for our own St. Joseph Seminarians, Nate Swann and Lewis King, as they continue their studies in
seminary.
In addition, I have been contacted by Fr. Pablo Migone, the Diocesan Director of Vocations, about our parish hosting a
seminarian this upcoming Spring for a period of five or six months. It seems that our parish has been very hospitable to
seminarians in the past and he thinks it would be a good place for a seminarian to serve and learn more about the
priesthood in this upcoming year. This is a great reflection on the support and generosity that we as a parish have shown
to our previous seminarians and priests when they have stayed with us. Not many parishes are asked for such an activity
and this is a privilege to help form a future priest. Please begin praying for this seminarian and I will let you know more
about who it will be as time gets closer.
Thank you for all you do in helping to build up the Kingdom of God. Have a blessed week!
In Christ,
Fr. Winchel
