Alleluia! Alleluia! Alleluia! The Lord is Risen!

Such is our glorious praise on this Easter as we joyfully and victoriously celebrate the love of God for us. Through Jesus’ resurrection, he conquered the tyranny of sin and death. The Risen Jesus changed all of human history as we are all given newness of life.

We can only be grateful for this precious gift Christ has won for us and so live our life to the full. Our appropriate response is to live our life for others - that we also know how to die to our own selves so we can give life to others. This is the perfect expression of living our life to the full as Jesus did wholeheartedly for us.

We are an Easter people. To embrace this Christian identity is to let the Risen Christ live in us. We set forth and show that Love truly has won, a Love that is life-giving. There is nothing to fear for God is upon us.

¡Aleluya! ¡Aleluya!

May God’s Easter blessings be with you always.

A Walk Through the Year With Our Pilgrims Calendar Fundraiser

We are blessed to have active youth in our parish - this means to say that our Church has a future.

The youth are essential members of our Church. This calendar fundraiser is for our Youth Pilgrimage in July to different Holy sites such as Lourdes, Assisi, Rome and Vatican City. On the pilgrimage, we have 2 priests, a deacon, 13 youth pilgrims and their chaperones

To donate to this Calendar fundraiser:

Pick a special date on the calendar when you would like to offer a Mass intention. For example, a birthday, wedding anniversary, requiem mass or death anniversary of a loved one, or feast day of a favorite Saint.

Donate the amount for that day: January 1st is $1, January 2nd is $2, January 3rd is $3, but it’s past those dates already. So we begin on Monday, January 22nd is $22, February 1st is $32, February 2nd is $33 all the way to December 31st is $365.

Keep in mind that this is different from our usual Mass intentions that go to our parish funds. This calendar fundraiser has been used in other parishes and it’s been very effective such as in St. Mary’s Church in Vacaville. We do hope that you support our Youth in our parish.

Pilgrims will be in the vestibule after masses to take your generous donations. Any monetary support you can give is greatly appreciated. God bless your generosity.

PROCLAIM THE RISEN CHRIST

On Easter morning everything—the spring weather, the flowers, birds and butterflies, the people around us in their finery, the beautiful liturgy and music—everything seems to bear witness that Jesus Christ is risen today! Like the eyewitness accounts in today’s scriptures, the glorious and joyful life all around us helps us to believe the good news of the Resurrection and sing “Alleluia!” In the scriptures today we hear from Peter and Paul and John. All three speak with conviction about witnessing the resurrected Christ. John’s Gospel account includes Mary of Magdala, who also was privileged to witness the Resurrec-tion and tell others the good news. On this glorious Easter Sunday can we ourselves give eyewitness accounts that Jesus Christ is risen today, alive and active in our lives? Copyright © J. S. Paluch Co., Inc.

Treasures From Our Tradition

The Paschal Mystery is the key to our Christian faith: the dying and rising of Jesus that is the pattern of our life. In their first steps on the road of faith, the catechumens feel the cross of glory traced over their eyes, on their lips, across their shoulders, on their ears, over their heart, and on their feet. The mystery is that even death gives way to life for those who are held in the embrace of Jesus. Today, many new Christians arise from the waters of the font. Yet the font is not the destination of their journey. The goal is Pentecost, fifty days from now, and a lifetime of praise to the Father, in Christ, in the embrace of the Holy Spirit, for the sake of the world. “Neophyte,” our ancient word for newly-baptized people, means “newly-planted” in Greek. If someone in your parish has just been baptized, welcome them today. The smiles on their faces and the light in the eyes is a foretaste of heaven. —Rev. James Field, Copyright © J. S. Paluch Co.
