The event was filled, but there’s been such strong interest, that it’s been re-opened to accommodate more!
It Was a Busy Day for Miss Scallon’s 4K Class
Billy Babcock’s dad, Dr. Matthew Babcock visited the students in Mss Scallon’s 4K class to teach them the essentials of dental hygiene. The boys and girls even had a chance to practice good brushing techniques.
Adding excitement to an already wonderful day, Miss Scallon’s students really enjoyed pajama day and getting to meet “Bobby Bocat” our school’s mascot.
Saint Jude the Apostle School is fortunate to have Dr. Peggy Otwell provide piano lessons for our students.
Dr. Peggy Otwell is a nationally known teacher and clinician who has also performed extensively throughout the USA and in Europe as a solo pianist and chamber musician. She currently teaches piano, piano pedagogy and
piano literature at UW Milwaukee, Mount Mary and Saint Jude. Dr. Otwell was the co-founder of Chamber Artists of Washington (D.C.),
with whom she performed for over 15 years. A former Fulbright scholar to France, Peggy has recorded the complete
piano works of French composer, Déodat deSéverac, for Musical Heritage Society Records, and has also edited and recorded for the Schirmer
Performance Editions. Professor Otwell is a graduate of the Catholic University of America (Washington, D.C.), and holds a DMA in piano
performance from the University of Maryland.
Recently, several Saint Jude students performed at a recent Studio Honors Recital. Receiving awards for their participation in the 2017 Wisconsin Music Teachers Association auditions were the following individuals:
Michael Rentmeester - received his 100 Pt Plaque and was selected for the State Auditions Julia Rentmeester received her 75 Pt bar
Aaron Reeve received a 22 Pt plaque Anna Carter received her 22 pt plaque
Megan Rentmeester and Joe Carter each achieved the highest score possible in their first year participating in these auditions.
Saint Jude families skated like champions
and harnessed their inner Olympians at the Gala Ice Skating Sign-Up Party at the Pettit last Saturday! Thanks to all who attended, and a very special
thank you to the Bell, Bunzel and Moloney families for under-
writing!
Gala Fun Continues
One of the beauties of the Saint Jude Gala is that it continues throughout the year
through the sign-up parties, including last weekend’s Family Ice Skating.
Having a whole inner rink and the Hall of Fame banquet room available just for
our group was such a wonderful opportunity for having great fun and building community with Saint Jude
families and friends.

The House of Peace/Tosa Food Pantry food collection will be held the weekend of March 3rd and 4th. Non-perishable food items may be brought to the communion rail. As an extra convenience, carts marked
“FOOD PANTRIES” have been placed in the school hall, just outside the north exit from the church and near the south exit.
With the harsh economic times, demands on the food pantries are increasing. Any help we can offer would be greatly appreciated. Food items that are especially needed at this time are protein-rich items such as Spam,
beef stew, canned beef, peanut butter, etc. Thank you for your help.

Join us on Tuesday, March 6th, at 7:00 PM in the Activity Center to hear Deacon Steve Przedpelski share information about his outreach street ministry through Franciscan Peacemakers. Five days a week year-round, Franciscan Peacemakers provides lunches to children, women and men living in poverty, homelessness, prostitution and addiction. Some of these individuals are victims of human trafficking. Sadly, Wisconsin is a hub for human trafficking. People of all ages, ethnic backgrounds and socio-economic backgrounds are innocently lured into trafficking using a complex web of controls. Deacon Steve will address the insidious nature of human trafficking and ways to recognize it. Franciscan Peacemakers was founded by 2 Franciscan Capuchin priests in 1995. The words of St. Francis called them to "Start by doing what is necessary, then do what is possible, and suddenly you are doing the impossible". Under the direction of Deacon Steve, this ministry has expanded to include Clare Community-a residence for women seeking a safe pathway from a life of drug addiction, prostitution and sex trafficking. At the same time, Gifts for the Journey was created as a place of learning and employment for residents of Clare Community. This non-profit ministry employs women who have survived lives of abuse, prostitution, addiction and violence. Some of their hand-made soaps, lotions, candles and jewelry will be available to purchase.
