MCGINTY’S HOMECOMING AT WAKE FOREST -- Friday’s game will serve as a homecoming of sorts for Billikens head coach Mike McGinty, a 1995 graduate of Wake Forest University.-- McGinty was a goalkeeper on three Demon Deacon (1991-92, 94) squads and is third in school history with 255 career saves.-- In 1992, McGinty was tabbed a second-team All-ACC goalkeeper. In 1991, he helped Wake to an NCAA Tournament appearance.

COACHING STAFF -- Mike McGinty is in his seventh season with the Billikens. The two-time A-10 Coach of the Year has a record of 67-39-10. -- McGinty has coached 10 Billikens who have been selected in the MLS Draft.-- Former Billiken Brian Grazier (2003-07) is in his third season as an assistant coach. Another former Billiken, Michael Robson (2009-12), is in his second season as an assistant under McGinty.

SCOUTING WAKE FOREST -- The Demon Deacons were picked No. 5 in both the NSCAA and College

Soccer News preseason polls. -- Last season, the Deacs went 6-0-2 in ACC play to claim the league’s regular-season title. They went 17-3-2 overall and advanced to the quarterfinals of the NCAA Championship.-- Wake Forest returns eight starters from last year’s team, including leading returning scorer Jon Bakero (8G, 6A in 2015).-- This is the second meeting between the Billikens and Demon Deacons. In 2002, the teams played to a 1-1 tie at the UNC Nike Classic in Chapel Hill.

SCOUTING NORTH CAROLINA -- The Tar Heels are No. 8 in the preseason NSCAA poll and are the preseason favorite to win the ACC.-- UNC went 15-2-3 overall and 6-1-1 in ACC play a season ago. The Tar Heels advanced to the third round of the NCAA Championship. -- Tucker Hume returns after leading the Tar Heels in scoring last season with 11 goals and five assists.-- Saint Louis leads the all-time series 3-1. In the last meeting in 2002, the Tar Heels defeated SLU 2-1 in Chapel Hill.
