Biking for Vocations August 8, 2019
Come and support the Philadelphia seminarians as they participate in Biking for Vocations. This 5-day initiative is designed to raise awareness of and encourage vocations at parishes throughout the Archdiocese. Saint Maximilian Kolbe Parish will be the first to welcome the seminarians on Thursday, August 8! We will cheer them on arrival at 11:45 am, have some refreshments with them as we hear their vocation stories, then engage them in some fun activities in the School Gym. We invite all parishioners to be a part of this joyous occasion and welcome the seminarians. Who should attend? Everyone! Our young parishioners can hear first-hand about faith journeys. Our older parishioners can be inspired by how our younger generation is responding to God’s call. Any cycling enthusiasts in the Parish? Here’s your chance to swap tips and stories with our Seminarians. We’ll have food and games to get everyone involved. This is a great chance to interact in a fun and active setting.

Mission Co-op
Propagation of Faith Weekend This weekend, St Max welcomes Fr. Alexander Cauchi. Fr.will be speaking at all the Masses for the Missionary Movement:
“Jesus in Thy Neighbor” The aim of the movement is to give a better life to so many children living on the streets of Brazil, Ethiopia and Kenya. Currently, the Missionary Movement has 33 homes in Brazil, 133 homes in Ethiopia and 34 homes in Kenya. The foundation remains living by the same mantra that formed its cornerstone; providing food to the hungry, water to the thirsty, medicine to the sick, education for all and shelter to the homeless. Missionary envelopes can be found in back of the church. Please consider supporting this cause through your offering and prayers.
Be part of this team of Love by giving your part.

A Letter of Thanks
Dear St Maximillian Kolbe Parishioners, Today It is with mixed feelings that I share with you the news that Sara Dempsey, Elizabeth Burke and Lori Miller will be leaving St Max at the end of August. Sara, Our Parish Music Director, School Music Teacher, as well as many other roles involving parish life will be the new Principal at Mother of Providence Regional School in Wallingford. We are overjoyed for Sara! She has been a vital member of our community for many years and will be missed. Elizabeth, the communication associate in the rec-tory has been instrumental in helping in so many areas in the parish. Through the years she helped with the school, administration of the parish, and evangelization. She also helped lead one of our faith formation groups “Walking with Purpose”. Her friendly personality and her deep faith life has helped to create a pleasant environment throughout the parish. We are sad, but excited for her and her husband John as they look for new opportunities to spread the faith as they move to Texas. And finally, Lori, the administrative assistant in the rectory will be retiring. We are both sad and very happy for her as well. She will be greatly missed here. She has helped the parish in many ways through the years, such as in administration, helping out in RCIA, and faith formation. Her sense of humor and her dedication to the faith has helped the parish through the years. On behalf of everyone at St Maximillian Kolbe Parish, please let us all wish Sara, Elizabeth and Lori good luck for the future and keep them in your prayers. Sincerely, Father Papa Father Windle

SPIRITUAL ENRICHMENT
The transfiguration of Jesus is an event reported in the New Testament when Jesus is transfigured and becomes radiant in glory upon a mountain. Jesus and three of his apostles, Peter, James, John, go to a mountain (the Mount of Transfiguration) to pray. On the mountain, Jesus begins to shine with bright rays of light. The prophets Moses and Elijah appear next to him and he speaks with them. Jesus is then called "Son" by a voice in the sky, assumed to be God the Father, as in the Baptism of Jesus.
