LIFE IS HARD, BUT HAVE NO FEAR Today’s readings take a fearless look at reality and reach a conclusion that we all know: life is hard. The prophet Malachi preaches fire and brimstone, warning us that evildoers will perish in flames. Saint Paul offers his own warning to the Thessalonians: keep busy, but never become a busybody. He reminds Christians that the apostles themselves worked in “toil and drudgery” as a model for how we ought to contribute to our community. The Gospel returns to the apocalyptic tone of Malachi, describing the utter chaos of the end-times. We will know the end is near when violence, catastrophe, and hatred dominate the earth. But we must not fear! God’s saving plan brings peace to our hearts. Malachi speaks of the sun’s “healing rays,” and Jesus himself promises to protect every hair on our heads.

TODAY’S READINGS First Reading For those who fear the name of the Lord, the sun of justice will arise (Malachi 3:19-20a). Psalm The Lord comes to rule the earth with justice (Psalm 98). Second Reading Those who are living in idleness are urged to earn their own living (2 Thessalonians 3:7-12). Gospel Jesus foretells the destruction of Jerusalem, the persecution of his followers (Luke 21:5-19).

LA VIDA ES DURA, PERO NO TENEMOS MIEDO Las lecturas de hoy toman una mirada valiente a la realidad y llegan a la conclusión que todos sabemos, la vida es dura. El profeta Malaquías predica fuego y azufre, advirtiéndonos que los malhechores perecerán en llamas. San Pablo ofrece su propia advertencia a los tesalonicenses: manténgase ocupados, pero nunca entrometidos. Él recuerda a los cristianos que los mismos apóstoles hicieron “trabajos pesados y penosos” como un modelo de cómo debemos contribuir a nuestra comunidad. El Evangelio regresa al tono apocalíptico de Malaquías, describiendo el caos total del final de los tiempos. Sabremos que el fin se acerca cuando la violencia, las catástrofes y el odio dominen la tierra. ¡Pero no debemos tener miedo! El plan de salvación de Dios nos da paz a nuestros corazones. The Altar Servers assist the priest and the deacon in helping to bring the assembly to a fuller understanding of the liturgy and a greater love for God.

We are recruiting NEW volunteers who want to become Altar Servers. Children and teens who have received First Communion and attend Mass on a regular basis are welcome to service in this beautiful ministry. Training will be provided.

The Seven Sisters Apostolate is a call to strengthen the Church by ensuring that a Holy Hour is prayed each day of the week for the sole intention of a specific priest or bishop. The initial recipient of a Seven Sisters group is their parish pastor; the intention is directed towards the office of the shepherd more than the individual. We would like to begin this prayer apostolate at St. Michael and are seeking seven women who feel called to offer the prayerful sacrifice of one Holy Hour a week on the same day each week for the sole intention of our Pastor. All Saints Day Festivity — Festividad de Todos los Santos This past Saturday, November 9th the enthusiastic group of children attending Elementary Faith Formation held their All Saints Day Festivity; where they had lots of fun, dressed as their favorite saint and paraded around St. Michael’s property. Este pasado sábado, 9 de noviembre el grupo entusiasta de niños que asisten a Formación de Fe Primaria tuvieron su Festejo de Todos los Santos; en donde se divirtieron mucho, se disfrazaron de su santo favorito y desfilaron por el terreno de St. Michael.

MAGI TREE PROJECT - ÁRBOL DE LOS REYES MAGOS The MAGI TREE is now full of gift ornaments for needy children and seniors in our parish and surrounding community. Gift cards will primarily be used to help purchase Christmas dinner for these needy families.

Please consider taking an ornament or two and put a big smile on a face of a needy child or senior. By taking an ornament you intend to return a wrapped gift with the ornament attached by the return date. Please, do not take an ornament unless you truly plan to buy a gift. Las tarjetas de regalo (gift cards) serán principalmente utilizadas para ayudar a comprar cena de Navidad para familias con necesidad. Por favor considera tomar un adorno o dos y pon una sonrisa en la cara de un niño o viejecito. Al tomar un adorno se espera un regalo envuelto, con la esfera afuera de regreso en la fecha estipulada. Join us for the thirteenth annual Christ Child Christmas Gift Market & Luncheon on Saturday, November 23 at the Renaissance Dallas Addison Hotel, 15201 Dallas Parkway, Addison. This festive event will benefit the Catholic Pro-Life Community and local Catholic maternity homes Bella House and Mater Filius.

The Gift Market will be open to the public with free admission from 9:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. The luncheon, for which reservations are needed, is from 11:30am-1:00 pm. The program will feature an Advent reflection by Fr. Joshua Whitfield, pastor of St. Rita Catholic Community and a moving ceremony honoring special Gabriel Moms from the transformative GEMS program.
