Stewardship thought from this week’s gospel

“It is easier for a camel to pass through the eye of a needle than for one who is

rich to enter the kingdom of God.” MARK 10:25

We are all called to be generous with all our gifts. Not just the ones we pick and choose, but all our gifts: our time in prayer to God, our talent in participating in parish ministries and our treasure supporting our local parish and other charities.

Every parish family should have received their reception invitation in

the mail. Please RSVP at your earliest convenience.

Again, this is your opportunity to learn firsthand about the campaign, ask questions, receive your campaign materials and meet with your fellow parishioners. We encourage everyone to attend. God bless.

Phone Call Volunteers!

For those who volunteered to help make phone calls during the campaign, the Campaign Office will be reaching out to you this coming week to begin making phone calls to parishioners that have not responded to the reception invitations. Be on the lookout for an email from the Campaign Office. Thank you again for volunteering!

Receptions for October 29th & 30th **VENUE CHANGE**

The receptions being held on October 29th & 30th that were originally scheduled in the Parish Hall have been moved to The Country Club of Farmington (806 Farmington Avenue). Please spread the word and we hope to see your there!

If you have any questions, please contact the campaign office at 860.677.2639 or [email protected]

FOR WEEKEND OF OCT 7

OFFERTORY

Masses: $ 6,850.00 Online: $1,195.00 WEEKLY OFFERTORY: $8,045.00

Thank you very much for your continuing support and generosity.

There are four ways of giving to St. Patrick’s Church: 1. Making contributions through your bank in person or

online. 2. Making gifts to church of appreciated securities. 3. Making a one time or an annual end of the year gift. 4. Establishing a legacy gift as part of one’s estate planning.

In preparation for our long awaited campaign, each parishioner is asked to pray for its success.

Below is our “Official Campaign Prayer”:

Campaign Prayer

Heavenly Father, we glorify you and we thank you

for all the many blessings you bestow on us as members of the one Body of Christ, your Son.

By the power of the Holy Spirit

inspire us with a vision of the future of St. Patrick Parish,

one filled with hope, confidence and trust, a vision that we pledge to support

for re-igniting our faith and the faith of those who will come after us.

Give us the grace to live fully our Christian calling,

to strengthen the life of our parish, to impart and deepen the faith among all age groups,

especially our youth, to expand our charitable outreach in the name of Christ,

and to plan wisely for the future.

We make our prayer through Christ our Lord. Amen.

ST. PATRICK CHURCH We are currently seeking nominations for candidates for the Par-ish Council Election. The terms for 4 present council members end in January. This is your opportunity to consider nominating a friend, neighbor or yourself to fill one of these positions. What is involved in this process? How long is the “term”? What are the qualifications necessary to be nominated? What is your role? The “term” of the council is 3 years. The Parish Council meets once a month on the first Tuesday of every month, except June-August. During the summer, meetings held only if necessary. The qualifications are simple: an adult who is interested in sup-porting St. Patrick Church. Your role is to assist your parish and to help shape what goes on in the parish. The Parish Council members assist and advise the pastor with church matters and serve as a liaison between the laity and the pastor. This is your time to be involved and have a voice as we strive to implement programs for the usage of the new addition to our church. Parish-ioners who have served on the Parish Council may return as long as it’s been a year since their term ended. Please think of some-one you’d consider a good candidate for this very important role. If you would like to become a candidate or nominate someone you know, please contact Monica Blum, Parish Council Chairperson at [email protected] or the Parish Office at [email protected] or (860) 677-2639.

We had cards in the church pews, in the bulletin and on the web-site. We are very grateful to all the parishioners that took the time to update their information. Much of our information was outdat-ed and the office staff worked hard all summer to correct our records. We recently held a drawing and pulled names from all the cards that were completed.
