THE LIGHT OF FAITH: CHAPTER 4, PART 2

Faith is consolation and strength amid suffering Pauline and Catholic letters contain many references to the suffering all human beings must endure and as Christians, by joining their suffering to that of Christ, they can bear them. It is in trial and suffering we discover that Jesus is Lord and is with us. Christians know that suffering cannot be eliminated, yet it can have meaning and become an act of love an entrustment into the hands of God who does not abandon us. The light of faith brings us closer to the suffering of the world. Many saints have grasped the mystery of human suffering and have approached it. Faith is not a light which scatters all our darkness, but a lamp which guides our steps in the night and is sufficient for the journey. To those who suffer, God does not provide reasons which explain everything; rather, his response is that of an accompanying presence. Suffering reminds us that faith’s service to the common good is always one of hope, which looks ever ahead in the knowledge that only from God, from the future which comes from the risen Jesus, can our society find solid and lasting foundations. Faith is linked to hope and charity, the hope that projects us toward a certain future, which is situated on a different perspective from the proposals of the idols of the world, but gives the strength to live every day. Blessed is one who believers In this final section Mary is presented as one who treasured everything in her heart so that the Word could bear fruit in her life. The Mother of the Lord is the perfect icon of faith. In the Mother of Jesus, faith demonstrated its best fruit and when our own spiritual lives fear fruit we become filled with joy, which is the clearest sign of faith’s grandeur. Mary’s motherhood ensured for the Son of God an authentic human history. Mary would be present in all the events of his life. At the center of our faith is the confession of Jesus, the Son of God, born of a woman, who brings us, through the gift of the Holy Spirit, to adoption as sons and daughters. Prayer to Mary, Mother of the Church and Mother of our faith Mother, help our faith! Open our ears to hear God’s word and to recognize his voice and call. Awaken in us a desire to follow in his footsteps, to go forth from our own land and to receive his promise. Help us to be touched by this love, that we may touch him in faith. Help us to entrust ourselves fully to him and to believe in his love, especially at times of trial and the cross, when our faith is called to mature. Sow in our faith the joy of the Risen One. Remind us that those who believe are never alone. Teach us to see all things with the eyes of Jesus, that He may be light for our path. LA LUZ DE LA FE: CAPITULO 4, PARTE 2

La fe es fuerza que conforta en el sufrimiento En las cartas paulinas y católicas se dan muchas referencias a los sufrimientos que tienen que pasar todos los seres humanos y a cómo los cristianos, uniendo su sufrimiento al de Cristo, pueden sobrellevarlos. En medio de la prueba y el sufrimiento esta claro que Jesús es Señor y esta con nosotros. El cristiano sabe que siempre habrá sufrimiento, pero que le puede dar sentido y convertirlo en acto de amor, de entrega confiada en las manos de Dios que no nos abandona. La luz de la fe nos lleva a acercarnos más a los sufrimientos del mundo. Muchos santos han captado el misterio del sufrimiento humano y se han acercado a él. La luz no va a disipar las tinieblas pero, como lámpara, guía nuestros pasos en la noche y esto basta para caminar. A quien sufre, Dios no le da razones para explicárselo, sino que le responde con una presencia que lo acompaña. El sufrimiento nos recuerda que el servicio de la fe al bien común es siempre un servicio de esperanza, que mira adelante sabiendo que sólo en Dios, en el futuro que viene de Jesús resucitado puede encontrar nuestra sociedad cimientos sólidos y duraderos. La fe va de mano de la esperanza, porque sabemos que caminamos hacia la mansión eterna. En unidad con la fe y la caridad, la esperanza nos proyecta hacia un futuro cierto, que se sitúa en una perspectiva diversa de las propuestas de los ídolos del mundo, pero que da fuerza para vivir cada día. Bienaventurada la que ha creído En esta última sección se presenta a María como la que conservaba todo en su corazón de manera que la Palabra diese fruto en su vida. La Madre del Señor es la imagen perfecta de la fe. En la Madre de Jesús la fe ha dado su mejor fruto y cuando nuestra vida espiritual da fruto nos llenamos de alegría, que es el signo más evidente de la grandeza de la fe. La maternidad de María ha asegurado para el Hijo de Dios una verdadera historia humana. María estará presente en todos los acontecimientos de su vida. En el centro de la fe se encuentra la confesión de Jesús, Hijo de Dios, nacido de mujer, que nos introduce, mediante el don del Espíritu Santo, en la filiación adoptiva. Oración a María, madre de la Iglesia y madre de nuestra fe

¡María, ayuda nuestra fe! Abre nuestro oído a la Palabra, para que reconozcamos la voz de Dios y su llamada. Aviva en nosotros el deseo de seguir sus pasos, saliendo de nuestra tierra y confiando en su promesa. Ayúdanos a dejarnos tocar por sus amor, para que podamos tocarlo en la fe. Ayúdanos a fiarnos plenamente de él, a creer en su amor, sobre todo en los momentos de tribulación y de cruz, cuando nuestra fe está llamada y crecer y a madurar. Siembra en nuestra fe la alegría del Resucitado. Recuérdanos que quien cree no está nunca solo. Enséñanos a mirar con los ojos de Jesús, para que Él sea luz en nuestro camino.
