Notices ∗ All Ministry and Group Leaders are asked to call the office and schedule times and places for meetings. This is important because of the Sanitation Guidelines that we MUST follow both before and after you meet. The schedule above may change as more committees and ministries re-assemble and call-in to schedule meetings.
∗ You will notice that Worship Aids, Prayer & Song Books have been removed from the pews. This is for sanitization of the Church before and after we gather. Please limit anything that you bring from home as well. Do not leave anything behind when you leave the church. For weekend Masses there will be a worship aid and it will be page 2 of the bulletin. READINGS & REFLECTIONS
REFLECTION: GOD’S WORD Each day we are bombarded with thousands of words. From the moment our clock radios click on in the morning, until the last moment of the day when the television is turned off or someone bids us “good-night,” our life is filled with words. Some words that we hear bring news that leaves us feeling low. Some words lift our spirits. Many of the words we hear are trying to get us to buy something. Some words are hurtful. Today the Church focuses our attention on hearing the word of God. Are God’s words just more of the same—part of the endless stream of words that flow into our ears each day? The challenge today is to allow God’s word to inspire us in new ways so that our outlook and attitudes align themselves more closely with the heart and mind of Christ Jesus. Copyright © J. S. Paluch Co.
TODAY’S READINGS First Reading: My word will achieve the end for which it was sent (Isaiah 55:10-11). Psalm: The seed that falls on good ground will yield a fruitful harvest (Psalm 65). Second Reading: We, who have the first fruits of the Spirit, groan within ourselves awaiting the redemption of our bodies (Romans 8:18-23). Gospel: Some seed fell on rich soil and produced fruit (Matthew 13:1-23 [1-9]). GOLDEN WEDDING ANNIVERSARIES 2020 Bishop Malesic desires to recognize all couples celebrating their 50th Wedding Anniversary during the calendar year 2020. The Jubilarians, their children, relatives or friends should contact their local parish office to register couples for this recognition. Ideally, the Jubilarians will be invited to join the bishop for a special Golden Wedding Anniversary Mass to be celebrated in Blessed Sacrament Cathedral on Sunday, September 20, 2020. Even though circumstances may not permit participation in this Mass, all couples will receive a scroll signed by the Bishop commemorating their anniver-sary.
MESSAGE FROM OBLATE OFFICE Pandemic Precautions are in place at the Saint Vincent College, Seminary & Arch-abbey affecting the scheduling of the Oblates Meeting, attendance at Vespers and meals with the Monks at St. Vincent. Resultantly, only the Presentation on Benedictine Spirituality will meet. That will be held in the Archabbey Basilica Crypt, allowing no more than 25 people. It will occur at 3:00-4:30PM and a call to reserve your spot is necessary. Face Masks & Social Distancing is expected. This month Fr. Cyp-rian will present on Liturgy of the Hours. Call Fr. Donald in advance to reserve your space at 724-805-2291.
MAGNIFICAT & WORD AMONG US For several years and up until the present time the parish office has been subscribing to Magnificat and to the Word Among Us booklets. The idea behind the subscription was that we’d be responsible for making payments and parishioners would pick them up and pay after the fact. Recently, even before the pandemic, purchasing these prayer aid booklets fell off dramati-cally to the point that none are being pur-chased and the parish is responsible for paying for the booklets even though they are unused.
At the same time we are being advised that the vendor for the booklets is no long-er going to be in business (Catholic Read-ing). To continue receiving the booklets would require a new subscription with a new vendor. So, we are not going to do that.
You can obtain a personal subscription, and it can be delivered directly to your door-step. Information in obtaining one is in your current booklet. If you do not find it there call Jim in the Parish Office to get that information 724-834-6880.
PARISH PICNIC HAS BEEN CANCELLED DUE TO SPIKING IN THE CORONA VIRUS WHEN LARGE GROUPS GATHER.
EMPLOYEES/MINISTERS/VOLUNTEERS!
As a follow-up to the first flyer regarding clearances, information below is for those who would like to access
the information on line. Go to: www.dioceseofgreensburg.org. Under the “Youth Protection” tab, scroll to: “PA Criminal History Record Check” to the “Volunteers only” section and you will find your form.
“Child Abuse History Clearance” and tap on “go online”
“Employee Affidavit” and tap on “Download the Employee Affidavit” near the bottom of page.
Regarding the new training, you may access it at VIR-TUS Online (choose either “Keeping the Promise Alive” or “Protecting God’s Children Re-Certification for Adults.”) For those who do not want to do this online, there are “hard copies” in the office, and again, Sue and Ginny will help you in the office starting the second week of July.
Thank you for your cooperation!
Ministry of Hospitality We are in need of parishioners to help sanitize the church after weekend Mass. If you are interested please call the church office to sign up, 724-834-6880. Until this juncture Deacon Bob handled this but with his new assignment he will not be here Saturday and Sunday. Thank you.
