The initial phase of this process invites us into deep listening to God, to one another (congregational), and to the wider community. For our Congregational Listening, we will conduct a survey later this summer and will be hosting several focus group sessions with our facilitator, Chris Bennett, from The Spark Mill.
Please join us for one of the following online Zoom sessions:

O God, you have taught us to keep all your commandments by loving you and our neighbor: Grant us the grace of your Holy Spirit, that we may be devoted to you with our whole heart, and united to

––––––––The Liturgy of the Word––––––––the reading Romans 7:15-25a
I do not understand my own actions. For I do not do what I want, but I do the very thing I hate. Now if I do what I do not want, I agree that the law is good. But in fact it is no longer I that do it, but sin that
dwells within me. For I know that nothing good dwells within me, that is, in my flesh. I can will what is right, but I cannot do it. For I do not do the good I want, but the evil I do not want is what I do. Now if I do what I do not want, it is no longer I that do it, but sin that dwells within me. So I find it to be a law that when I want to do what is good, evil lies close at hand. For I delight in the law of God in my inmost self, but I see in my members another law at war with the law of my mind, making me captive to the law of sin that dwells in my members. Wretched man that I am! Who will rescue me from this body of death? Thanks be to God through Jesus Christ our Lord!

the holy gospel Matthew 11:16-19, 25-30
Gospeler The Holy Gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ according to Matthew.People Glory to you, Lord Christ.
Jesus said to the crowd, “To what will I compare this generation? It is like children sitting in the marketplaces and calling to one another, ‘We played the flute for you, and you did not dance; we wailed,
and you did not mourn.’ For John came neither eating nor drinking, and they say, ‘He has a demon’; the Son of Man came eating and drinking, and they say, ‘Look, a glutton and a drunkard, a friend of tax collectors and sinners!’ Yet wisdom is vindicated by her deeds.” mAt that time Jesus said, “I thank you, Father, Lord of heaven and earth, because you have hidden these things from the wise and the intelligent and have revealed them to infants; yes, Father, for such was your gracious will. All things have been handed over to me by my Father; and no one knows the Son except the Father, and no one knows the Father except the Son and anyone to whom the Son chooses to reveal him. “Come to me, all you that are weary and are carrying heavy burdens, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me; for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.”
Gospeler The Gospel of the Lord.People Praise to you, Lord Christ.
the sermon The Reverend Gwynn Crichton
the niCene Creed
We believe in one god, the Father, the Almighty, maker of heaven and earth, of all that is, seen and unseen. We believe in one Lord, Jesus Christ, the only Son of God, eternally begotten of the Father,
God from God, Light from Light, true God from true God, begotten, not made, of one Being with the Father. Through him all things were made. For us and for our salvation he came down from heaven: by the power of the Holy Spirit he became incarnate from the Virgin Mary, and was made man. For our sake he was crucified under Pontius Pilate; he suffered death and was buried. On the third day he rose again in accordance with the scriptures; he ascended into heaven and is seated at the right hand of the Father. He will come again in glory to judge the living and the dead, and his kingdom will have no end. We believe in the Holy Spirit, the Lord, the giver of life, who proceeds from the Father and the Son. With the Father and the Son he is worshiped and glorified. He has spoken through the Prophets. We believe in one holy catholic and apostolic Church. We acknowledge one baptism for the forgiveness of sins. We look for the resurrection of the dead, and the life of the world to come. Amen.
the prayers of the people
Presider Jesus calls all who are carrying heavy burdens and offers us rest. Let us respond to his call in prayer and praise, saying, Holy One, hear our prayer.
Intercessor God revealed in Jesus Christ, you know the weariness of all who bear the burdens of personal and societal illnesses; renew our trust in you as we glimpse your mercy and seek to walk in your footsteps. Holy One, People hear our prayer.
Intercessor God revealed as Holy Spirit, you know our struggles to be faithful followers in confusing and fearful times; give us calm hearts and clear vision as we work together for peace and justice for all your beloved children. Holy One, People hear our prayer.
Intercessor God revealed as Source of all life, we praise you for the abundant resources that you shower upon us; make us wise stewards of all your gifts to us and help us to remember those who will come after us on this fragile earth. Holy One, People hear our prayer.
7
Intercessor God our Protector, watch over all who labor on behalf of others to keep us safe, fed, and healthy: for scientists and counselors, for farmers and food workers, for first responders, drivers and housekeepers, and for all medical workers, especially those we name now. Holy One, People hear our prayer.
Intercessor Jesus, the Great Healer, we pray for your comfort on all who are suffering and in need: the lonely, the marginalized, the homeless, the unemployed, the fearful, those struggling with mental and physical illness, especially those we name now. Holy One, People hear our prayer.
Intercessor God of Eternal Light, shine on all who are bereaved and give eternal peace to those who are now at home in you, especially those we name now. Holy One, People hear our prayer.
Presider God of all creation, whose glory fills the world: we commend this nation to your merciful care, that, being guided by your Spirit, we may dwell secure in your peace. Grant to the leaders of the world, to the President of the United States, to the Governor of this Commonwealth, and to all in authority, wisdom and strength to know and to do your will. Fill them with the love of truth and righteousness, and make them ever mindful of their calling to serve all of your people; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, world without end. People Amen.
Confession of sin and absolution
Presider Let us confess our sins against God and our neighbor.
People Most merciful God, we confess that we have sinned against you in thought, word, and deed, by what we have done, and by what we have left undone. We have not loved you with our whole heart; we have not loved our neighbors as ourselves. We are truly sorry and we humbly repent. For the sake of your Son Jesus Christ, have mercy on us and forgive us; that we may delight in your will, and walk in your ways, to the glory of your Name. Amen.
Presider Almighty God have mercy on you, forgive you all your sins through our Lord Jesus Christ, strengthen you in all goodness, and by the power of the Holy Spirit keep you in eternal life. Amen.

the great thanksgiving
Presider The Lord be with you. People And also with you. Presider Lift up your hearts. People We lift them to the Lord.Presider Let us give thanks to the Lord our God. People It is right to give him thanks and praise.
Presider It is right, and a good and joyful thing, always and everywhere to give thanks to you, Father Almighty, Creator of heaven and earth.
Through Jesus Christ our Lord; who on the first day of the week overcame death and the grave, and by his glorious resurrection opened to us the way of everlasting life.
Therefore we praise you, joining our voices with Angels and Archangels and with all the company of heaven, who for ever sing this hymn to proclaim the glory of your Name:
sanCtus and benediCtus Land of Rest
8
Arise, my love, and come away, The flowers adorn the bright new earth, for winter is past, winter is past. new blossoms appear, new blossoms appear.
The light of heaven shines in our hearts, The songs of doves are heard in our land, the rain is over and gone. Their joyful music abounds.
The blossoms reach out, reach out to the sun,Heaven and earth lift up their voice,Arise! Arise!
Arise, my love, my beautiful one,and come away, come away. The light of heaven shines in our hearts,The rain is over and gone.Alleluia, Alleluia.
The Presider continues
Holy and gracious Father: In your infinite love you made us for yourself; and, when we had fallen into sin and become subject to evil and death, you, in your mercy, sent Jesus Christ, your only and eternal
Son, to share our human nature, to live and die as one of us, to reconcile us to you, the God and Father of all.
He stretched out his arms upon the cross, and offered himself in obedience to your will, a perfect sacrifice for the whole world.
On the night he was handed over to suffering and death, our Lord Jesus Christ took bread; and when he had given thanks to you, he broke it, and gave it to his disciples, and said, “Take, eat: This is my Body, which is given for you. Do this for the remembrance of me.”
After supper he took the cup of wine; and when he had given thanks, he gave it to them, and said, “Drink this, all of you: This is my Blood of the new Covenant, which is shed for you and for many for the forgiveness of sins. Whenever you drink it, do this for the remembrance of me.”
Therefore we proclaim the mystery of faith:
The people and Presider say together
Christ has died.Christ is risen.
Christ will come again.
The Presider continues
We celebrate the memorial of our redemption, O Father, in this sacrifice of praise and thanksgiving. Recalling his death, resurrection, and ascension, we offer you these gifts.
Sanctify them by your Holy Spirit to be for your people the Body and Blood of your Son, the holy food and drink of new and unending life in him. Sanctify us also that we may faithfully receive this holy Sacrament, and serve you in unity, constancy, and peace; and at the last day bring us with all your saints into the joy of your eternal kingdom.
All this we ask through your Son Jesus Christ. By him, and with him, and in him, in the unity of the Holy Spirit all honor and glory is yours, Almighty Father, now and for ever. AMEN.
And now, as our Savior Christ has taught us, we are bold to say,
Our father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy Name,
thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever and ever. Amen.

the breaking of the bread The Presider breaks the bread followed by silence.

the Communion
Presider Let us pray.
faithful god, in the wonder of your wisdom and love, you fed your people in the wilderness with the bread of angels and you sent Jesus to be the bread of life. Though we cannot consume these
gifts of bread and wine together, we thank you that we have received Christ’s presence, the forgiveness of sins, and all other benefits of Christ’s passion and resurrection. By the power of the Holy Spirit, may we embody your love, be renewed for your service, and be reflections of the awakened and risen Lord. Amen.
The Presider receives communion on behalf of the community.
the postCommunion prayer
The people say together
Gracious Father, we give you praise and thanks for this Holy Communion of the Body and Blood of your beloved Son Jesus Christ, the pledge of our redemption; and we pray that it may bring us
forgiveness of our sins, strength in our weakness, and everlasting salvation; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
