SAINT PETER CATHOLIC CHURCH September 15, 2013
PRAYER FOR THE YEAR OF FAITH
Lord Jesus, you find us
at the Door of Faith, inviting us to open our hearts to the gift of faith,
so that we may know you, the Eternal Son of the Father, in the unity of the Holy Spirit.
Help us to believe all that you have revealed,
as it is taught by your Church. Help us to celebrate the Mass
and the other sacraments faithfully, so that we may have eternal life. Following Mary and the saints as heroes of faith, may we believe, celebrate, and live in your love,
now and always. Amen!

This beautiful Mass offers the Sacrament of Anointing to those with acute or chronic illnesses, those with other physical or emotional infirmities and the elderly. The first Mass offered at St. Peter’s present Church was
Sunday, September 12, 1915. Two years later, Sep-tember 16, 1917 the church was dedicated. Both events were delayed due to the fact that the stained glass windows had not arrived. It was in November 1920 that the windows arrived from Germany. World War I caused the delay. ~ Sr. Paula
Host Families Needed: to house Japanese Jr. High Stu-dents - arriving October 9 and leaving October 14. Stu-dents will attend school all day October 10 and 11. For information contact Ann Brown 419-756-6983.
What is the Traveling Cross Program? A wooden pedestal cross will be passes from household to another each weekend at all 9:30 am Masses in the month of Octo-ber. The household with the cross for that week will be expected to pray daily for an increase in vocations to the priesthood and religious life. A booklet with
vocation prayers will accompany the cross. The goal is to have the program at all Masses so the entire parish is involved.

Adult Faith Enrichment
“(Jesus said) There will be more joy in heaven over one sinner who repents than over ninety-nine righteous people who have no need of repentance.” (Luke 15:7) What an absolutely wonderful promise! Our humble
desire for repentance could create a great joy in heaven! Fr. Robert Barron’s presentation on the “Seven Deadly Sins, Seven Lively Virtues” presents realistic steps we could take to aid in our repentance. Join us this Thursday evening, September 19, at 7:00 pm, St. Peter’s High School Library to view part one of this dynamic two part series.
Thursday evening, Oct 3, we will offer the first part of the 8 episode series of “A Quick Journey Through the Bible”. This series has been highly recommended as a first step understand-ing to exploring the Bible. If you wish to join this dynamic presentation, facilitated by Joe Palmer, please notify Lynne Lukach to order the material necessary for the study group. We will have a few extra study materials available if someone would like to borrow the material for the series.
In an interview with Justin Bieber’s mother September 18, 2012, Kathie Lee Gifford talked with Pattie Mallette about the pressure she suffered at the age of 17 to abort her famous pop-star son.

Wednesday, September 10, was World Sui-cide Prevention Day. “Everyone is respon-
sible for his life before God who has given it to him. It is God who remains the sovereign Master of life. We are obliged to accept life gratefully and preserve it for His honor and the salvation of our souls. We are stewards, not own-ers, of the life God has entrusted to us. It is not ours to dispose of.” (CCC 2280) “We should not despair of the eternal salvation of persons who have taken their own lives. By ways known to Him alone, God can provide the opportunity for salutary repen-tance. The Church prays for person who have taken their own lives.” (CCC 2283) “The pastoral care of family and friends of those who have taken their own lives is an important focus for the Church’s healing and compassionate ministry.” (United States Catholic Catechism for Adults, p 394)

All faiths are welcome! Come and be healed.
