TERZA DOMENICA DI QUARESIMA 28 DI FEBRAIO, 2016

“There an angel of the Lord appeared to him in fire flaming out of a bush. As he looked on, he was surprised to see that the bush, though on fire, was not consumed. So Moses decided, ‘I must go over to look at this remarkable sight, and see why the bush is not burned.’ When the Lord saw him coming over to look at it more closely God called out to him from the bush…

‘come no nearer! Remove your sandals from your feet for the place where you stand is holy ground.” The encounter of Moses with God at Horeb is one of the profound meetings of one with God. The scene is easy to imagine. The curiosity quite natural. The conversation so direct and reassuring. The end result, Moses is given a mission and God reveals His name ‘tell them that I AM sent me to you.’ Our God is described as a God of surprises. How often the unexpected occurs. He reveals Himself not in earthquakes but in a gentle breeze. He touches people’s lives feeding them with oil and flour. Jesus heals the sick, restores sight to the blind, feeds the multitude, calms the sea and wind. What Pope Francis described in ‘Laudatio si’ (Praise to you) calls our attention to the environment, which is God’s creation, entrusted to our care. Lent, our time in the desert, brings us to the mountain of Transfiguration, to Mount Horeb and eventually to the mount of Calvary. May we discover the Lord as we make this journey in the gift of nature, in the people who journey with us. Our God of surprises wishes to reveal His saving presence and mercy to us all.

“Allí se le apareció el Angel del Señor en una llama de fuego, que salía de en medio de la zarza. Al ver que la zarza ardía sin consumirse, Moisés pensó: ‘Voy a observar este grandioso espectáculo. ¿Por qué será que la zarza no se consume?’. Cuando el Señor vio que él se apartaba del camino para mirar, lo llamó desde la zarza … ‘No te acerques hasta aquí. Quítate las sandalias, porque el suelo que estás pisando es una tierra santa’.”El encuentro de Moisés con Dios en Horeb es uno de los encuentros de más significado con Dios. La escena es fácil de imaginar. La curiosidad muy natural. La conversación directa y tranquilizadora. El resultado final es que se le da a Moisés una misión y Dios revela Su nombre ‘Tú les dirás: “Yo soy” me envió a ustedes.’”Nuestro Dios se describe como un Dios de sorpresas. A menudo ocurre lo inesperado. Se revela a Sí Mismo no en terremotos sino en la brisa gentil. Toca la vida de las personas alimentándolas con aceite y harina. Jesús sana al enfermo, le restora la vista al ciego, alimenta a la multitud, calma el mar y el viento. Lo que el Papa Francisco describe en ‘Laudatio Si’ (Alabanza a Tí), llama nuestra atención al medio ambiente, que es creación de Dios encargada a nosotros para su cuidado.La Cuaresma, nuestro tiempo en el desierto, nos trae al monte de la Transfiguración, al Monte Horeb y eventualmente al monte del Calvario. Que podamos descubrir al Señor al tomar este viaje en el don de la naturaleza, en las personas que viajan con nosotros.Nuestro Dios de sorpresas desea revelar Su presencia salvadora y su misericordia a todos nosotros.

L’uomo non è stato creato per rovinarsi la vita. Non si può neanche immaginare che, fornito di ragione, egli lo desideri. E tuttavia tutto sembra svolgersi in modo che ciò avvenga, a tale punto che si arriva a dubitare dei propri desideri di pienezza e perfino a negare la loro possibilità. Un fatto nuovo è accaduto nella storia, che “molti profeti e re hanno voluto vedere e non hanno

visto, e udire e non hanno udito”. Una Presenza inevitabile, provocatoria, di un’autorità fino ad allora sconosciuta, che ha il potere di risvegliare nel cuore dell’uomo i suoi desideri più veri; un Uomo che si riconosce facilmente come la Via, la Verità e la Vita per raggiungere la propria completezza. Il momento è quindi decisivo, grave. Quest’uomo chiama tutti quelli che sono con lui a definire la propria vita davanti a lui. Ma c’è un’ultima e misteriosa resistenza dell’uomo proprio davanti a colui di cui ha più bisogno. Bisogna quindi ingaggiare una battaglia definitiva perché l’uomo ritrovi il gusto della libertà. E Cristo lotterà fino alla morte, per dare “una dolce speranza e per concedere dopo i peccati la possibilità di pentirsi” (cf. Sap 12,19). Ma non tentiamo di ingannarci. Ci troviamo nelle ultime ore decisive. Cristo può, in un ultimo momento di pazienza, prolungare il termine, come fa per il fico della parabola, ma non lo prolungherà in eterno!
