John Salanitri has trained horses for

Victorian owner-breeder Eddie Hirsch

for more than two decades and he hopes

to reward that loyalty with a big race

victory in the $855,000 The Showdown (1200m)

at Caulfield today.

The pair is double-handed with sons of

Darley’s Street Boss (Street Cry), Just A Tribute

and Fender Bender, in the second running of

the lucrative two-year-old race restricted to

progeny of eligible Victorian VOBIS Sires.

Just A Tribute closed strongly at Benalla on

March 15 to win his first start, defeating Black

Caviar’s (Bel Esprit) fourth foal Ready For Caviar

(More Than Ready) over 1112 metres, which

confirmed to Salanitri that The Showdown was

a realistic target.

His Hirsch-owned stablemate Fender Bender

had made his debut six days earlier, finishing

runner-up to Thudson (Pride Of Dubai) in an

1100-metre two-year-old maiden at Ballarat and

was also placed on a Showdown campaign, which

was won last year by Prince Of Sussex (Toronado).

“We are looking forward to it as they have

“You wouldn’t think the distance will

be a problem for either of them as they’ve both given the impression that

they’ll get 1400 to a mile, so the 1200 metres will be right up their alley.”

Salanitri has up to ten horses in work at a time for Hirsch, who spreads

his homebreds between him and fellow Caulfield-based trainer John

Sadler.

The owner-breeder’s commitment to his trainers also stretches to that

of stud farms, with Hirsch’s support of Darley also potentially about to pay

off in The Showdown via the deeds of shuttler Street Boss, also the sire

of this season’s Group-winning sprinter and Blue Diamond Stakes (Gr 1,

1200m) favourite Hanseatic.

“We’ve been together for 20-something years and still going strong

and for me to get a result for him would mean a hell of a lot,” Salanitri said.

“Eddie has taken a number of mares over the past three or four years

to Street Boss, so he has always been a big rap on him. They are just

temperamental horses, which is the only problem, but if you can work

past that he is capable of getting a nice one.”

Hirsch has ramped up his investment in the racing and breeding

industry in the past 12 months, by firstly being instrumental in the

purchase of Foxwedge (Fastnet Rock) that saw the Group 1-winning

stallion relocate to Woodside Park last year, before reaching a deal with

Mark Rowsthorn to buy the stud’s pre-training centre.

The Melbourne-based businessman is currently having the Tylden

property upgraded, with a particular focus on the training track, before

having one or multiple trainers relocate to the property to the city’s west.

Caulfield is set to close as a training centre by November 2023 and

Salanitri revealed yesterday that it was likely that he and his racing manager

brother Frank would move their stable to Hirsch’s property in the near future.

“We are still in talks about that at the moment, but it seems to be the

case in terms of where we will be going,” he said.

“It is going to be a great place … and I am really looking forward to it

actually. They are still working on the track at the moment and there’s still a fair

few things to be put in place (but that is where we are probably moving to).”

Hirsch resolved to never sell a yearling again after parting with 2001

Australian Oaks (Gr 1, 2400m) winner Rose Archway (Archway) for just

$12,000 at the 1999 Inglis Melbourne Autumn Yearling Sale.

Just A Tribute is one of five named foals out of dual Group-winning

mare Laura’s Charm who Hirsch secured for $55,000 at the 2014 Magic

Millions Patinack Farm Complete Dispersal Sale, while Fender Bender is

a son of US-bred mare Flamingo Guitar (Storm Cat).

Hirsch paid $87,500 at the 2016 Inglis Australian Broodmare Sale

for the European-winning mare, who is a sister to US Grade 2 winner

Fantasticat, in foal to Choisir (Danehill Dancer).

Just A Tribute has a yearling half-sister by Kermadec (Teofilo) and a

Sebring (More Than Ready) weanling half-brother, but Fender Bender’s

mother died without producing another foal.

First for Scissor KickGirls Kick On (2 f ex Placement by Savabeel),

who was purchased by Glenvale Park’s Damien

Lane and his father-in-law Bob Law for $12,000

at the Inglis Classic Yearling Sale, became the

first winner for Arrowfield Stud resident Scissor

Kick (Redoute’s Choice) yesterday. The two-year-

old filly took out a 1000-metre maiden at Port

Macquarie, defeating Bay Of Bengal (Sepoy) by

two and a quarter lengths with Undeniable (Not

A Single Doubt) another length away in third.

Scissor Kick, who shuttles to Haras d’Etreham in

France, was a dual Group 3 winner and ran a close

second to Hallowed Crown (Street Sense) in the

Golden Rose Stakes (Gr 1, 1400m). He stood for

a fee of $11,000 (inc GST) at Arrowfield in 2019.

Blue Gum release 2020 stallion feesBlue Gum Farm in Victoria have released their

covering fees for two of their stallions for the

2020 breeding season. Manhattan Rain (Encosta

de Lago), the sire of 2017 Golden Slipper Stakes

(Gr 1, 1200m) winner and Champion Australian

2YO She Will Reign, will stand at a fee of $13,200

(inc GST). “What Manhattan Rain has already

achieved is very exciting,” Philip Campbell said

recently. “But what is around the corner for this

stallion is even more exciting to us.” Meanwhile,

dual Group 1 winner Turffontein (Johannesburg),

who is responsible for Widgee Turf and Fontein

Ruby, will stand for a fee of $6,600 (inc GST).

Griffiths keeps tabs on GlenfiddichAhead of a Group 1 race, Robbie Griffths would

ideally be trackside to oversee the final gallop of

his horses but due to coronavirus restrictions, the

Cranbourne trainer has left it up to David Pfieffer

to put the final touches on Glenfiddich (Fastnet

Rock) ahead of today’s Champagne Stakes (Gr 1,

1600m). "In an ideal world I would have been there

for the Sires' and then had another look at him after

the Easter Yearling Sale," Griffiths said yesterday. "I

couldn't, but that's the beauty of technology these

days as Dave has been sending down videos of the

horse. Technology has been good in that area but

it's not the same as having your finger on the pulse.

We don't really have any other options and Dave has

been terrific with his reporting all the way through,

so it feels like I've got a good handle on everything

and hopefully it plays out that way on Saturday."

Bivouac to bounceback: BowmanHugh Bowman has all but declared the James

Cummings-trained Bivouac (Exceed and Excel)

in the final Group 1 race of the Sydney season, the

All Aged Stakes (Gr 1, 1400m) labelling the colt

the supreme sprinter of his age group. "He has

been an exceptional colt, he is probably the best

three-year-old of his generation," Bowman said.

"I just love the barrier draw, the way the race looks

to set up. I think it suits him. He is an exceptional

horse and he's in great order. From barrier four I

expect to be just behind the speed. With even luck

I think he will win the race."

Godolphin trio to make MarkAs well as Bivouac, James Cummings will also

saddle three top chances in the market for the Hall

Mark Stakes (Gr 3, 1200m), in Deprive (Denman),

who was $4 favourite on Friday, shading

stablemate and comeback horse Kementari

(Lonhro) ($4.20) and Group 1 performer Trekking

(Street Cry) ($5). "I can't see him running anything

but a good race," Cummings said of Kementari.

"He's come on since his first-up run, he's trained

well and he's showing a great attitude." On

Deprive, Cummings added: “He's had four weeks

off since his fast-closing fourth in The Galaxy, and

he looks a little richer for it.”

Lucky seven for Clark?Tim Clark has ridden a stakes winner at every

meeting for the past six Saturdays, three of them at

Group 1 level - the Coolmore Classic (Gr 1, 1500m)

and Coolmore Legacy (Gr 1, 1600m) aboard Tulloch

Lodge mare Con Te Partiro (Scat Daddy), and the

Galaxy (Gr 1, 1100m) on the David Pfieffer-trained

I Am Excited (Snitzel). It has been a decent haul by

any stretch and ensures Clark heads into the final

day of The Championships full of confidence. "It

has been a good carnival. They're definitely three

of the highlights," Clark said. "I feel like I'm riding

pretty well. Probably the most pleasing part about

most of my winners this carnival is they have been

long-priced winners. It is not like I'm getting on the

favourites. That is a pleasing thing knowing you're

getting the job done on horses that aren't expected

to go that well."

Quick Thinker chasing more Group successAustralian Derby (Gr 1, 2400m) winner Quick

Thinker (So You Think), who is stabled at co-trainer

Murray Baker’s son Bjorn’s Sydney base, will attempt

to continue his stellar autumn campaign in today’s

Frank Packer Plate (Gr 3, 2000m) at Randwick,

“Bjorn’s very happy with him,” Baker said. “It’s going

to be a different test on what looks like a good track,

but he has raced well on a good track before so I just

hope he has held his form. He hasn’t done a lot since

his win in the Derby. He has swum a bit and had a

breeze up and I think he will be fresh enough for the

drop back to 2000 metres.” Meanwhile, stablemate

The Chosen One (Savabeel), who was runner-up in

the Sydney Cup (Gr 1, 3200m), has been spelled.

Lees not giving up on DanceteriaA tactic that backfired in the Tancred Stakes

(Gr 1, 2400m) might prove to be a masterstroke

for Kris Lees’ import Danceteria (Redoute's

Choice) as he bids to turn around his indifferent

autumn carnival form in today’s Japan Racing

Association Plate (Gr 3, 2000m). A Group 1

winner over 2000 metres in Europe, Danceteria

has struggled to produce anything like that

effort in four Australian runs. "He took off mid-

race the other day and it might have helped him

from a future point of view and switched him on

a little bit," Lees said. "If he can run anywhere

near his best he will be right in this race."

St Covet's Spirit set to improveDespite St Covet's Spirit (Uncle Mo) being no

match for Rubisaki (Rubick) in the P J Bell Stakes

(Gr 3, 1200m), Jason Coyle saw encouraging

signs in the filly's return at Randwick. And while

Rubisaki is the short-priced favourite again for

today’s J H B Carr Stakes (Gr 3, 1400m), Coyle

is looking forward to seeing what improvement

his $41 chance can show. "I thought she reeled

off some solid sectionals late so she's obviously

going to benefit from that run and I think she

will really appreciate stepping up to 1400

metres," Coyle said. "Rubisaki is obviously the

horse to beat. She's a filly in outstanding form

and looks like only having to probably turn up

in the same vein of form to be very hard to beat.

But we met her first-up over 1200 metres so

I'd like to think she's got a bit of improvement

in her and I think they'll know she's there on

Saturday."

Mehegan happy to have throw at the stumpsMornington trainer Michael Mehegan will be

having a throw at the stumps with $20 chance

Miss Inbetween (Fighting Sun) in the $855,000

Showdown (1200m) at Caulfield today, after

she finished seventh in the Vobis Gold Rush

(1000m) at Bendigo last start. "We knew it (Gold

Rush) would be too short for her, but we were

pretty confident she'd run top ten to get another

$5000 (in prize-money)," Mehegan said. "That

got her in and we've opted to put the blinkers on

her for the first time. It's a restricted race where

you have to be by a Victorian-based sire which

subsequently rules out half the horse pool. It's a

pretty hard race to do the form on, but I'm pretty

confident in her form and know that she'll run

a strong 1200 (metres) out. She'll come back as

a better three-year-old and in the spring I hope

she'll be a 1400-metre, 1600-metre horse."

Toronado on Vobis Crusade

Swettenham Stud principal Adam Sangster is

sweating on promising three-year-old Master

Crusader gaining a start in the VOBIS Gold

Dash (1100m) at Caulfield to further put his

sire Toronado (High Chaparral) up in lights.

The Hawkes Racing-trained three-year-old

scored a dominant maiden win at Caulfield

in December but is third emergency in the

race. Shuttler Toronado’s three-year-olds have

enjoyed a stellar season so far and Sangster

said his progeny had also found favour in

Hong Kong. “Last year the top five Toronado

lots were bought by Hong Kong and they

bought our top lot (Toronado/Noetic) offered

through Collingrove for $180,000 at this year’s

Melbourne Premier,” Sangster said. “While a

lot of flagship horses have been sold up there

to Hong Kong, we are really looking forward to

seeing Masked Crusader for John Hawkes and

owner Rupert Legh.”

Cumani after Gold HeathMatt Cumani believes Declares War (Declaration

Of War) is in good shape ahead of his race in

the Gold Heath (2000m) today at Caulfield. The

gelding is chasing a second win and his first

as a four-year-old. It will be his fourth run this

campaign, coming into the race off the back of a

second at Sandown earlier this month. “He’s in

great shape and I’ve been really happy with him

in the last couple of weeks,” Cumani said. “Early

on we were a little bit open-minded as to what

may be his best trip. We didn’t know if he would

want 2400 metres, or whether he would be a miler

and so we didn’t know which way he would land.

But he’s certainly run great races through his prep

and now he looks like he would like a strongly run

2000 metres.”

Rae given Fleet Review challengeAfter a failed spring campaign in 2018, young

Cranbourne trainer Alexander Rae picked up

European sprinter Fleet Review (War Front)

from champion trainer Aidan O’Brien. The

four-year-old was disappointing in his first-up

run for Rae, connections hope he can improve

in today’s Bel Esprit Stakes (Listed, 1100m). "As

soon as horses got around him he threw in the

towel pretty quick," Rae said of Fleet Review’s

last start. "We thought that being a five-year-

old entire he had his mind on other things

and wasn't interested in being a racehorse any

more. So we've decided to keep things fresh,

take him to the beach, jump a few tyres, get

him out on the bush trails that we have here at

Cranbourne. I understand that having the time

off he may have lost interest in racing, but we've

done everything we possibly can going into

Saturday to try and rejuvenate him."

Clarken hoping Parsifal can improveParsifal (Darci Brahma) is on a path to the

Goodwood (Gr 1, 1200m) on May 16 and

trainer Will Clarken is expecting an improved

performance when the seven-time winner

contests today’s R N Irwin Stakes (Gr 3, 1100m) at

Morphettville. The gelding finished sixth behind

Diamond Effort (Mossman) when resuming over

1000 metres at Caulfield earlier in the month and

has taken good benefit from the run. "I'd lie if I was

to say I was rapt with his run," Clarken said. "He

was a little bit soft the last bit. Whether that was

because the horse wasn't at 100 per cent fitness or

the wet track, or he got caught wide, he had a few

excuses. He has come on a great deal from then.

He hasn't missed a beat. He had a jumpout on

Tuesday and looked good."

Stewart’s move north paying offNeville Stewart’s decision to relocate to

Queensland for a couple of months with just

one horse is paying off. His promising two-year-

old Broken Hero (Better Than Ready) is one of

the favourites for the 2YO handicap (1350m)

at Doomben today. Stewart was a regular at

Brisbane two decades ago but drifted away from

the racing game for more than ten years. “I had

enough of training so I drove trucks and semi-

trailers for a long time,” Stewart said. “Then I had

a three-stint driving floats in Victoria before I got

the racing bug again. I went to Grafton and bought

a filly named Western Desert who won a couple of

races before breaking down. We decided to breed

from her and she went to young sire Better Than

Ready and the result was Broken Hero.”

High five for Edmonds’Training partners Toby and Trent Edmonds

managed to equal the Queensland record for

winners at a metropolitan meeting with five at

the Gold Coast yesterday. Toby Edmonds already

held the record jointly with Bruce McLachan,

Alan Bailey and Gillian Heinrich but this record-

breaking achievement was a milestone in his

partnership with son Trent. Racing Queensland

has split the state into five regions because of

coronavirus protocols, with metropolitan racing

centred on metro south (Gold Coast) and metro

north (Brisbane). Trent Edmonds credited the

stables to produce the winners in such difficult

circumstances: “Racing Queensland has given us

a chance to race and we are all following the strict

biosecurity so we can keep going. Dad did it at the

Sunshine Coast four years ago but it is great to do

it with him and on our home track.”

Slipper winner’s half-sister wins trialThe two-year-old half-sister to 2017 Golden

Slipper Stakes (Gr 1, 1200m) winner She Will

Reign (Manhattan Rain), Still Reigning (Time For

War), was an impressive winner at the Warwick

Farm trials yesterday. Trained by Gary Portelli, the

filly led all the way in the 806-metre heat, winning

by three and a quarter lengths on the bridle. Still

Reigning was purchased by Kitchwin Hills for

$800,000 at the Inglis Australian Easter Yearling

Sale from the Yarraman Park Stud draft in 2019.

Jump out reprieve for jockeysRacing Victoria yesterday announced that jockeys

segregated in the ‘Green Team’ will be permitted

to participate in jump-outs conducted by the

Melbourne Racing Club at Caulfield or Sandown

and the Victoria Racing Club at Flemington, effective

from Tuesday, April 21. A statement from RV read:

“The prohibition on jockeys in the Green Team

riding trackwork (including at Caulfield, Sandown

and Flemington on the morning of Approved

Green Team Jump-Outs) remains in place until

otherwise advised, as does the prohibition on them

participating in jump-outs at other training centres

and Racecourses. The MRC and VRC will continue

to manage the conduct of these jump-outs and will

implement measures to maintain the segregation of

participating jockeys in the Green Team and Gold

Team as occurs on raceday.”

Travelling companions bannedRV have also banned trainers from bringing a

travelling companion for horses, including ponies,

to any race meeting, effective from Sunday, April

19. The statement read: “Only horses engaged to

compete at the race meeting will be allocated a

stall and be permitted to enter the Racecourse. This

protocol will assist Racing Clubs in their efforts to

stable horses from training centres together on

raceday and support social distancing measures.”

Tassie racing remains in limboTasmanian racing remains in limbo after Jane

Howlett, Minister for Racing in Tasmania,

released a statement saying the current restriction

to racing has been extended until at least May

15. The statement read: “While the return date

will be ultimately determined by public health

advice, I will be working with the industry to

gain agreement for even tighter controls for race

meetings. While our first priority as a Government

is to save lives and stop the spread of coronavirus,

today’s announcement will enable all codes to

plan for the future. Industry participants will

continue to receive State and Federal assistance

based on their specific eligibility during

the period that racing is not permitted. The

Government’s aim is to enable racing to return

as soon as possible having regard to the current

circumstances that the State is experiencing.”

Brunton sends team to mainland

While racing in his home state remains on

hold, leading Tasmanian trainer Scott Brunton

has transferred horses to Victoria to continue

racing for the foreseeable future. Shot Of Irish

(Canford Cliffs) will run for Richard Laming in

the $60,000 Neds Same Race Multi Handicap

(1400m) at Caulfield on Saturday. "We are just

ticking along," Brunton told Racing.com. "It's

not so much for me (sending the horses across

for prizemoney), but it is for the owners. I own

a small share in Galenus and The Inevitable, so

at the end of the day there's a chance for a profit

absolutely … and I own half of Shot Of Irish so

if he could win on Saturday it would be great."

Clark and Bowman consider QLD carnivalLeading jockeys Tim Clark and Hugh

Bowman, admit they have considered entering

quarantine after the autumn carnival in order

to relocate to Brisbane for their revamped

meetings. The pair have five Group 1’s between

them this autumn leading into the last day of the

carnival at Randwick this weekend, and would

usually be starting to plan their winter schedule

in Queensland. With coronavirus restrictions

in place, the pair would have to undergo a 14

day quarantine before being allowed to ride

interstate. “I have considered it and I will talk to

my trainers,” Bowman said. “If I did do that, I’d

move my whole family up there but it might just

be easier to stay in Sydney.”

Spain joins jockeys in SAZac Spain has decided to isolate himself for

two weeks in order to gain access to ride at the

Adelaide carnival. Fellow jockeys John Allen,

Ethan Brown and Dean Holland were on Friday

driving to a property outside of Adelaide to

undergo isolation. “The three of us have a place

together,” Allen said. “We booked a pretty big

place so we can have a bit of space to get around

and exercise a bit.” Allen said he was 50-50

about committing to the isolation until he was

confirmed to ride Russian Camelot (Camelot) in

the South Australian Derby (Gr 1, 2500m). “I had

a few rides booked at Caulfield and I thought if I

could be in the property by midnight on Saturday

I would be right. But TRSA said they wanted us

there by Friday,” Allen said.

rate among any of Victoria’s top 50 trainers

this season, posting a 21.25 per cent winners

to runners strike rate. German has ridden

105 winners to date, with 40 of those wins for

Lindsay Park Racing. The 21-year-old rode

his 14th metropolitan winner at Caulfield last

Saturday when riding Leale (Moshe) to success

for Catherine Hutchinson.

Vale Alan HarrisHolbrook Stud’s Julie Harris has revealed that

her father Alan Harris passed away suddenly

at the age of 91 last Friday. Alan along with his

wife Madge was a fixture at the Inglis sales for

many years and had a close friendship with the

late John Inglis. The Holbrook brand has been

in operation for over 150 years when it was

the last stop in the Widden Valley. Due to the

current situation, the family will hold a private

cremation and will have a memorial service at a

later date when restrictions have improved.

Gosford trials rescheduledRacing NSW have advised that the Gosford barrier

trials scheduled for Wednesday, April 29 will now

be conducted on Tuesday, May 5. Nominations

for the trials will close at 11am on Friday. May 1.

NEW ZEALAND

NZ-Australia flights likely to resumeThere is confidence that equine flights to

Australia should be able to return within the

next month. However, New Zealand Bloodstock

Airfreight Manager Greg Northcott told HRNZ

it could take longer for anything like normal

equine services to return. NZB Airfreight are

one of New Zealand’s major flyers of horse

but the airline have been unable to offer those

services since the middle of March when it was

announced that New Zealand was entering

Covid-19 alert level four. “The problem isn’t the

horses flying, it is our professional grooms who

have to go with them,” Northcott told HRNZ.

“We use three carriers to fly horses to Australia

and depending on the flight the grooms might

be in normal seating. So the companies we fly

with are reluctant to expose their pilots to the

grooms, or anybody else, at a time like this and

we have to respect that.”

Guineas races set to be held in NorthThe 1000 Guineas (Gr 1, 1600m) and 2000 Guineas

(Gr 1, 1600m) could move north to be held at

Ellerslie or Te Rapa, instead of its traditional

venue at Christchurch. That is the suggestion of

the committee working to put together a plan for

when racing returns. Racing will initially be held

at a smaller number of tracks with less travelling

for both horses and connections. New Zealand

Thoroughbred Racing has already confirmed

that jockeys will not be allowed to ride in both

islands without a quarantine period. Both travel

and financial considerations will be taken into

account for holding the Guineas in the North

Island. 21 of the 27 horses who ran in last year’s

Guineas were based in the North Island, with

travel costs amounting to around NZ$5,000.

The Opera House’s white line continuesWhen a three-quarter sister to Might And Power

(Zabeel) was born, little did her breeders think she

would be born white. As studmaster Sir Patrick

Hogan explained to Breednet: “You just don’t get

that colour. In the 65 years I’ve seen foals being

born, it’s the first time I’ve sighted one.” The white

filly was bred by Rod Martin, who then sold her

as a yearling for $280,000. Later named The Opera

House, she won a 2100-metre maiden at Wyong

in nine starts. She was sold at Magic Millions to

Michael Wallace on behalf of Windsor Park Stud,

who bred Might And Power. Her High Chaparral

(Sadler’s Wells) filly, similarly white, was bought

by prominent Japanese owner and breeder Hideo

Takardaru for $450,000. She was covered by Gold

Ship (Stay Gold) last year and recently produced

a filly snow-white like her dam and grandam, who

is sure to capture the attention of racegoers in the

coming future years.

ASIA

Grade 1 mount for LaneDamian Lane, who commences his latest

stint in Japan this weekend, will have a Group

1 ride in the Japanese 2000 Guineas (Gr 1,

2000m) at Nakayama tomorrow. Lane rode

38 winners including seven at stakes level on

the JRA circuit last year, and is booked for 13

rides at Nakayama. He will have seven rides

on Saturday, a card which holds the country’s

best steeplechase - the Nakayama Grand Jump

(Gr 1, 4250m). He will regain the ride on Salios

(Heart’s Cry) in the Guineas for his sponsor

trainer Noriyuki Hori, having ridden him to

success on debut last June.

INTERNATIONAL

Fasig-Tipton introduce online biddingFasig-Tipton will offer online bidding at all its

future live auctions. The facility will be available

for their next scheduled auction, the Midlantic

Two-Year-Olds in Training Sale, to be held on

June 29-30 in Timonium, Maryland. Fasig-

Tipton President Boyd Browning said of the

new offering: “The addition of online bidding

to our live auctions is a service we are pleased

to offer. At no other time has this service

been more crucial or needed. As we all work

to conduct business in the current Covid-19

environment of adjusted social norms, online

bidding ensures the best possible marketplace

for our buyers and sellers in 2020. Looking

beyond 2020, we envision this service being an

integral component of all future auctions.”

Inglis will take select supplementary

entries for its planned Easter Round

2 sale in July, a planned live auction to

complement its Round 1 virtual event

earlier this month.

The July 5 Round 2 auction was added to

the sales calendar in the lead-up to its two-day

feature sale on April 7 and 8 to provide vendors

with the option of holding back yearlings for the

live sale or to reoffer passed in lots.

Now, Inglis has opened up entries for the

Riverside Stables event to other select sale

quality yearlings, with the view of buyers being

allowed to inspect yearlings at the complex on

the understanding that the current Covid-19

restrictions will be relaxed by July.

However, Inglis management stressed that

it will depend on any restrictions still in place in

respect of coronavirus, but if they do, another

virtual auction will take place as was the case

for Easter Round 1.

“We want to try and give every vendor the

optimum opportunity to sell their horses where

practicable and given there has been significant

interest in adding additional select entries to

the sale on July 5 from vendors, it seems an

appropriate step to take to facilitate suitable

yearlings,’’ Inglis general manager of bloodstock

sales and marketing Sebastian Hutch said.

“There have been many enquiries in relation

to all of our upcoming sales – The Chairman’s Sale,

The Australian Broodmare Sale, Easter Round 2,

The Australian Weanling Sale, The Melbourne

Gold Sale, the Great Southern Sale and the Scone

Yearling Sale - and every effort is being made to

appropriately facilitate the needs of vendors,

suppliers and buyers in a pragmatic manner.

“As previously advised, the intention is to
