Salatiga is located central to the major cities and cultural centers of Yogyakarta, Solo, and Semarang, making the school 1.5-3 hours from three international airports. Community Mountainview is fully accredited by the Association of Christian Schools International (ACSI), Western Association Schools and College (WASC) and Badan Akreditasi Nasional Indonesia. Accreditation Mountainview Christian School (formerly Mountainview International Christian School) was founded in 1981 to serve the families of expatriates living in Indonesia, primarily those involved in the work of various service organizations. Mountainview is a K-12 boarding and day school with a current enrollment of approximately 230 students from a number of countries and backgrounds, with the largest number of representatives from the United States, South Korea and Indonesia. Curriculum

The academic program is organized on a rotating blockschedule. Students take six 85 minute block classes andtwo 50-minute classes. Students attend three block classesand the regular class daily. Block classes are year-long;each block class meets every other day. Block scheduling was instituted in 2012.These AP® courses are offered: Calculus AB, Capstone,English Literature and Composition, and US History.

Technology

Campus wide WiFi access connects students and staff to aworld of information. In addition, an investment in technology made every classroom a global connection pointwith projectors or TVs . Both elementary and secondaryschools have computer labs that are equipped with thelatest hardware and software.

Mountainview awards two types of diplomas:

Mountainview awards two types of diplomas to students who spend their entire senior year at the school.

The Standard Diploma, which qualifies the graduate to apply for admission to a college or technical school in the United States.

The Merit Diploma includes more challenging course requirements and is considered the college or university preparatory course of study. Students working toward the Merit Diploma must:

Students with learning difficulties may make special arrangements with the school to earn a modified diploma. Following is the list of semesters and minimum credits required for each type of diploma.

Earn a 3.0 cumulative grade point average or higher in grades 9-12

Not earn any F’s on their report cards in grades 11 or 12.

BoardingThe school offers two, centrally located, on campusdormitories. Both dorms are staffed with professional “dormparents” with food and laundry services and high speedinternet. Capacity for 16 boys and 16 girls. (grades 7-12)

These teams compete in the annualIISSAC (Indonesian International Small School Activity Conference) tournament. This is a competition with 5 otherinternational schools. Tournament site rotates amongmember schools.

Battle of the Books. The academic competition assignsstudents readings in teams which they are tested on in a“quiz show” type format.
