JACO TOUR DESCRIPTIONS

Carara National Park The tour operator will provide transportation that will pick you up from your lodging establishment and drive 20 minutes to Carara National Park. This incredible protected area measures about 4,700 Hectares and is home to approximately 48% of Costa Rica’s aviary species. This Jaco tour will show you the importance of the region, as it is situated in a transitional region between the tropical dry forest and the humid pacific rainforest. This Jaco tour showcases colorful species of flora and fauna from a varied ecosystem. You will be able to spot the Scarlet Macaw, Collared Aracai and various monkey specimens. At the end of this Jaco tour your operator will arrange transportation to take you back to your hotel. Canopy Tour Los Sueños This Canopy is a Project designed not only as an extreme adventure, but a way to enjoy nature without harming the environment; our property boasts spectacular views of the Herradura bay and Island, as well as the Nicoya Gulf. Within the property, you will have the opportunity to view the Scarlet Macaws, Chest nut mandible Toucans and white-face monkeys. The property rests on 80 acres of land... 50% of which is primary forest, where the canopy is located. The adventure starts on a 15-minute ride aboard our specially designed 40 passenger tractor. Once we arrive to the top of the mountain we then descend to the bottom via a series of zip lines, including 15 platforms and 14 cables with a total cable distance of 3.5 kilometer including the longest cable in the area of 2400 ft!!!!

Horseback Riding Tour Jaco The tour starts at our beautiful Herradura Costa Rica base just 10 minutes from Jaco Beach and Los Suenos Marriott Costa Rica. Once you arrive we will equip you and then depart on our journey to the waterfalls and swimming pools. Along the way you will see farms, and get a closer look at nature, as you start ascending through the rain forest. You may be able to spot some great wildlife such as: Toucans, Scarlet Macaws and White-Faced Monkeys. Upon arrival to the swimming pool area, your bilingual guide will set you up with some fresh fruit and water and you will have some time to relax and enjoy the waterfalls and natural slide. Jungle River & Crocodile Adventure Transportation will be arranged to pick you up from your hotel and take you on a picturesque 20-minute road trip to the Jaco tour site. This crazy adrenaline adventure takes you through the marvelous wonders of our rainforest. You will explore the Tarcoles River on our stunning pacific coast. Your guide will point out different kinds of mammals, birds and reptiles that flourish in this mangrove system. Depending on the season you will be able to spot different migratory aviary species; from October to April you can glimpse ospreys, gulls, terns cormorants, pelicans and frigates. There will be numerous opportunities to take incredible pictures on this Jaco tour. When you are finished there will be transportation waiting to return you to your lodging facility. Manuel Antonio National Park Transportation provided by the tour operator will pick you up at your hotel from where you will start your 1-hour ride to Manuel Antonio National Park. This protected area is very popular due to its wide variety of flora and fauna. An experienced guide will accompany you on this picturesque hike. Two of the main attractions here are two white sand beaches, Espadilla Sur and Manuel Antonio Beach, but this protected area also houses coastal rainforests, mangrove swamps, coral formations and islands. Throughout this interesting Jaco tour your guide will stop and explain the different nature specimens that can be observed, you can take photographs or just admire the view. Upon completing this Jaco tour you will be provided with transportation back to your accommodation establishment. The park is closed on Mondays. Savegre White Water Rafting Get ready for a day of adrenaline and extreme fun! This Jaco tour provides transportation from your hotel to the river put it. You will enjoy the scenic road trip as it takes you over winding gravel roads through remote countryside landscapes. While you are attempting to tame the rapids of Savegre River, your guide will be riding beside you to ensure your safety. This river features class II and class III rapids. Once you reach the end of the river you will be able to take a closer look at your surroundings and admire the colorful flora and fauna. Your guide will lead you to a stunning waterfall where you will stop for snacks. You can take advantage of this relaxing pause and swim a little in the calm pond nearby. Your guide will help you find notable species of primary jungle vegetation. You will also be served a delicious homemade meal for lunch. Transportation will be arranged to return you to your hotel. Naranjo White Water Rafting A transportation service will pick you up and drive 1 1/2 hours to the river put in. This Jaco tour provides a wild day full of adventure and excitement. Upon arrival you will receive a safety briefing and suit up to hit the rapids. This Jaco tour is a challenging experience perfect for seasoned paddlers. With steep drops through the mountains of Quepos and jungle gorges, you are sure to see incredible scenery. Your Jaco tour guide is a trained professional in first aid, water rapids rescue and mountain rescue. This river rafting adventure allows you to tame class III rapids. After you finish your run you will be served with a delicious homemade lunch, after which transportation will be waiting to take you back to your hotel. Jaco tour participants should be physically fit.

“El Chorro” White Water Rafting / Extreme Raft Adventurous people visiting Manuel Antonio should not miss the chance to overcome "El Chorro", a high degree whitewater rafting trip. "El Chorro" is a Class 4 whitewater rafting trip on the upper section of the Naranjo River, about 1 hour and 30 minutes from the main Jaco hotel area. This whitewater rafting trip is known as a dry season Class IV, and it boost up to Class V and frequently turns unnavigable during rainy season. Although it's a strenuous and challenging whitewater trip, rafters do not need prior rafting experience; nevertheless, they have to be in good physical conditions and the minimum age is 16 years. Since the rapids go through a very narrow gorge, it had been decided to name it "El Chorro" where the appropriate translation to English would be "jet gorge". This powerful excursion last around 4 hours, between the pick-up and drop off at your hotel. It includes round trip transportation (to the main Quepos - Manuel Antonio hotel area), equipment and snacks at the end of the adventure. Villa Lapas Sky Way Villa Lapas is a natural reserve that borders Carara national park. The Sky Way is an exciting tour that includes 5 hanging bridges, each measuring 100m in length suspended 60m off the ground. Throughout this hike you will be able to observe primary and secondary rainforest vegetation. Keep your eyes open to see the numerous bird species, mammals and other varied fauna that call this forest home. From your new-found perspective you will enjoy scenic views of the Pacific Ocean and Tarcoles River (notorious worldwide among crocodile and bird enthusiasts). A guide will accompany you throughout this interesting tour ensuring that you complete this memorable experience knowledgeable on the wildlife and vegetation of our beautiful country. Damas Island Estuary Boat Trip (From Jaco) Transportation is provided and you will be picked up at your hotel and during the 1 hour’ drive, your guide will describe the scenery highlights. This Manuel Antonio tour allows you to navigate through the wonders of the unique Costa Rican mangrove ecosystem. You will float along the calm currents under a verdant forest canopy. Make sure you keep your eyes wide open so you can spot the uncountable bird species, reptiles, ant eaters and white-faced monkeys. While you silently observe this amazing habitat, your guide will offer explanations about the flora and fauna found in this incomparable region. The Damas Island boat trip takes you through the natural canals and provides an ideal opportunity to observe many birds such as herons, kingfishers, ospreys and frigates birds. As you navigate through the brackish waters you can catch glimpses of the island as you pass beneath tunnels made naturally from tree growths, and admire this small sanctuary of nature. Lunch is served after the trip. The Damas Island boat trip does not require previous experience.

Damas Island Kayaking Tour Transportation is provided and you will be picked up at your hotel and during the 1-hour drive, your guide will describe the scenery highlights. This kayaking tour allows you to explore the wonders of the unique Costa Rican mangrove ecosystem. You will set out in the Paquita river, facing an island and float along the soft currents under a verdant forest canopy. Make sure you keep your eyes wide open so you can spot the uncountable bird species, reptiles, ant eaters and white-faced monkeys. Catamaran Adventure Transportation will be provided by your tour operator to pick you up from your hotel. You will travel approximately 20 minutes to the Quepos dock. A guide will take you to the loading platform and help you board the catamaran. You will set sail towards the horizon and cruise over sapphire hued waves. The catamaran will chart a picturesque course departing from Quepos gliding around the back of Manuel Antonio national park. Your guide will point out notable wildlife and vegetation specimens, so be sure to have your camera ready. You will pass by panoramas adorned with islands, cliffs and rock formations. You can admire aviary nesting grounds and marine wildlife. Beverages and snacks are available onboard the catamaran throughout the trip. After touring the coastline, your captain will set anchor on Bisanz beach where you can take advantage of the pit stop to snorkel at this secluded bay. You are most likely to spot parrotfish, starfish, angelfish and if you are lucky a dolphin! During your chartered course you will be able to savor a tasty barbeque lunch onboard the catamaran while admiring the lovely waterscapes. You will then head back to the dock where there will be transportation waiting to take you back to your hotel. This Manuel Antonio tour does not require previous experience. Water visibility varies depending on the season.

Arenal Volcano & Hot Springs Experience a visit to the Arenal Volcano, it’s almost perfect conical shape towering over the town of La Fortuna, in

Northern Costa Rica. While exploring the National Park, you may walk through trails created by lava formations

towards a look out point from which you can see the dense vegetation, cut by past lava flows, and the beautiful

valley below.

Next stop, a dip in natural hot springs, soothing your muscles and relaxing your entire body. Optional spa treatment

available such as mud baths or massages.

Poás Volcano & La Paz Waterfall Gardens Experience a visit to an active volcano in the province of Alajuela. The Poás features two crater lakes, one more

acidic than the other, changing in color from iridescent greens to sulphuric yellows. Observe the vegetation changes

on the drive up through scenic plantations.

Upon you return, visit La Paz Waterfall, an impressive 120-foot-high cascade. The Gardens allow you to walk through

dense forest, trails, a butterfly farm and exhibits featuring frogs and snakes.

Poás Volcano & Doka Coffee Tour Experience a visit to an active volcano in the province of Alajuela. The Poás features two crater lakes, one more

acidic than the other, changing in color from iridescent greens to sulphuric yellows. Observe the vegetation changes

on the drive up through scenic plantations.

Upon your return, visit the Doka coffee plantations, and learn about the steps it takes to process the bright red fruit

on the coffee trees into the steaming cup you enjoy every morning. From harvest, seed extraction and drying,

roasting and storing, end the day enjoying the final product and choosing from different varieties to share with

friends and family back home.

Monteverde Cloud Forest Adventure A naturalist guide will lead the way as you explore the Monteverde cloud forest. The endangered beautiful Quetzal

makes his home here, nesting in the moss filled trees. Other birds you may observe include bellbirds and black

guans, and mammals such as coatis, agoutis and olingos.

Experience the forest canopies while walking over a hanging bridge over 300 feet high.
