Lighting For HealthcareToday, people are more aware of the health issues and this has catalyzed

Healthcare Illumination Requirments...

CorridorsThese are the areas where circulations are very large. Patients especially those who are in critical condition are taken on stretchers. Recessed mounted asymmetric fluorescent luminaires mounted adjacent to walls can provide required glare free illuminance levels.

Wards In hospitals, homeliness of its wards is an essential requirement. Glare

free, soft lighting provides relaxed atmosphere to the patient and helps them in recovering fast.

• General lighting can be provided by Indirect lighting with minimum lux level of around 100 lux which should assist nurses to carry out their duties comfortably.

• Wall mounting Bed head luminaire which is a unit of reading light, examination light, night lamp is required to give patients privacy if there are more than one patient in a room.

• Orientation lighting is useful for helping patients find their way at night without disturbing the others in the room. Foot lights are good choice for these applications.

Reception, waiting areasFor any patient or visitor a welcoming environment at the reception gives confidence and reassurance. These areas should be brightly lit. Suspended Up/Down lighters or recessed down lights with diffusers can be used to achieve the desired lux levels.

CorridorsThese are the areas where circulations are very large. Patients especially those who are in critical condition are taken on stretchers. Recessed mounted asymmetric fluorescent luminaires mounted adjacent to walls can provide required glare free illuminance levels.

Wards In hospitals, homeliness of its wards is an essential requirement. Glare

free, soft lighting provides relaxed atmosphere to the patient and helps them in recovering fast.

• General lighting can be provided by Indirect lighting with minimum lux level of around 100 lux which should assist nurses to carry out their duties comfortably.

• Wall mounting Bed head luminaire which is a unit of reading light, examination light, night lamp is required to give patients privacy if there are more than one patient in a room.

• Orientation lighting is useful for helping patients find their way at night without disturbing the others in the room. Foot lights are good choice for these applications.
