Message from the President Over the past year, the Museum worked on a “Sustainability Policy and Guide for Greening the Museum”. I'm excited to present (below) the Museum’s Sustainability Vision and Guiding Principles from our museum’s new Sustainability Policy – believed to be the first of its kind for a New Brunswick museum. Its aim is:
To help us save energy and water; recycle and compost more; and generate less waste To provide clear direction on what we can do, and offer best practices for us to aspire to To inform and educate, so that sustainability becomes a part of our everyday museum
culture Sustainability is consistent with our museum's purpose and mission. Trees and forests aren't just important to our economy; they also play a critical role in our local and global environment. By implementing the policies in this guide, we can be confident we're doing our part to create a sustainable, prosperous future. Let's work together to make our museum a showcase of sustainability!
Phyllis Robinson, President Central New Brunswick Woodmen’s Museum
Our Sustainability Vision
The Central New Brunswick Woodmen's Museum is a model of efficiency, sustainability and environmental responsibility for our visitors, youth, staff, volunteers and community. We strive:
To reduce our consumption of energy, water and other resources by practicing efficiency in all we do
To minimize solid waste through responsible purchasing, comprehensive recycling and composting
To purchase goods and services from sustainable sources and suppliers To educate our visitors, staff, volunteers and community about sustainability and
environmental best practices through our actions and exhibits To foster a culture of sustainability and continuous improvement among our staff,
volunteers and community To communicate our progress and success stories to our visitors, staff, volunteers and
community To serve as a positive and motivating example to other museums and community
institutions.
Our Guiding Principles
As a not-for-profit, community-based organization, we will work within our financial means. We will focus upon and prioritize practical, realistic actions that will make the most significant difference.
The museum’s primary mission is to showcase the economic and environmental importance of forests, past, present and future; our activities should be consistent, either directly or indirectly, with this mission
Sustainability is a journey as well as a destination; we are committed to learning, taking action and leading by example
Education is one of our core functions, and is most effective when people are engaged and having fun
We aspire that this Sustainability Policy be applied to all activities and events on the museum site, including special events hosted on our premises
We welcome the ideas, creativity and other resources of our staff, volunteers and community
We partner and collaborate wherever possible for ideas, best practices, funding and other resources
We are committed to integrity, accountability, transparency and continuous improvement Our team members are most engaged and productive when we maintain a positive,
motivating atmosphere in all of our operations We will measure and report our progress annually

RENOVATION/THANK YOU
The Central Miramichi Community Health Centre would like to thank our patients for their understanding as we continue with renovations to our clinic. We are pleased with the changes to date which will now allow us to better serve our patients with two registration windows as well as adaptations for patients requiring wheelchairs. We are also sporting some new paint and flooring. We will continue with changes to our entrances over the
next several weeks. Again, thank you for your patience during this transition.
WELL WOMAN PROGRAM Do you . . .
• dribble/leak urine when laughing, coughing, or with activity? • have pelvic pain or prolapse? • want to learn more about menopausal issues such as hot flashes, sleep, anxiety, etc.? • want more education on women’s health issues?
The Central Miramichi Community Health Centre now has a Women’s Health Clinic with Registered Nurse Lisa Lovelace. Lisa has received training in treating Level 1 urinary
incontinence and prolapse as well as pelvic pain. She also has extensive knowledge on a variety of health
issues specific to women. She will assess and treat with a non-surgical approach.
A referral from your health care provider is required. For more information, please call Lisa at 365-6100.

KINDERGARTEN IMMUNIZATIONS
For patients at Central Miramichi Community Health Centre . . . A friendly reminder for
all children starting kindergarten in the Fall of 2019 to make an appointment to see a
health care provider for their four-year old’s check-up and appropriate immunizations
prior to school starting in September. Please call 365-6100 to book in one of our
immunization clinics as available appointments are limited.
The Centre for Disease Control & Prevention reports that vaccines prevent an estimated 2.5 million deaths
among children under 6 every year. Still one child dies every 20 seconds by a disease preventable by a
vaccine. Why? Because 1 in 5 children don’t have access to immunization or because their parents choose
not to immunize.

our meetings again in the Fall, we will be assessing the situation since attendance has been
low. For more information, please contact Lisa at health centre at 365-6100.
If you are not a patient of the Health Centre, please get in touch with your family doctor or with Public Health regarding your child’s immunization requirements.

My heart split in two,
One side filled with memories,
The other side died with you.
I often lie awake at night
When the world is fast asleep
And take a walk down Memory Lane
With tears upon my cheek.
Remembering you is easy,
I do it every day;
But missing you is a heartache
That never goes away.
I hold you tightly within my heart
And there you will remain.
You see, life has gone on without you
But will never be the same.

but they get over it (Mark Twain) ~
The Atlantic Salmon Museum is pleased to announce that it will be adding an “on-line auction” component to its website from which we will be offering a wide selection of items for sale.
We’re beginning with a chance to win a three-day fishing trip to the famous Larry’s Gulch on the Restigouche River and will be following that up with an assortment of fly plates, prints and other items that we’re pretty certain will tweak your interest. We invite you to check our website at www.atlanticsalmonmuseum.com – the auction component should be up and running later this week so check it often to see what’s available (look for “Auctions” on the navigational menu at the top of our Home Page).
We kept our promise to restore the age of eligibility for Old Age Security and the Guaranteed Income Supplement from 67 to 65.
Our government is working hard to ensure seniors have the support they need and the secure and dignified retire-ment they deserve.
Our government has increased the OAS & GIS to improve the lives of 900,000 seniors across Canada.
We have invested $6 billion in palliative and home care to help more seniors live at home with dignity.
We have ensured 210,000 seniors are getting all the bene-fits they deserve with automatic enrollment for GIS.

FARMER’S MARKET
The Doak Provincial Heritage Site has a fine new vending area that was built over the winter months directly adjacent to its Barn. We’d like to make good use of it by hosting a weekly Farmer’s Market this summer – produce, jams, jellies, pickles, baked goods, crafts, knitting, quilts, plants,
maybe even some “gently used” items you’d like to see go to a good home.
If you think this would be a good idea – if you’d like to be part of it – if you have some suggestions as to how to make this Market work really well, please get in touch with Site Coordinator Valerie O’Donnell at 365-0049 (Cell) or at [email protected].
