In 1962, the Augsburg, Germany, native and herfamily came to the United States, where GerdaBailey headed a professional operated bakery.After learning the “business”, Gerda Bailey settled with her family in Omaha in 1972 and she opened her German Restaurant and Bakery in Midtown Omaha in 1976.

Growing up in Augsburg, Germany, Gerda learned to cook and bake a variety of her native German recipes.

Over three decades Gerda Bailey, known as an Omaha Icon, has cooked, baked, catered and served the finest German food to her customers including some famous personalities. Many customers enjoy her hearty German entrees at lunch and dinner, but Gerda is also knownfor her pan-fried chicken.
